Hi guys... I was just wondering if anybody has any information and can answer a few questions I'm currently living in Georgia (Republic) with my Thai wife... but I want to be nearer to my elderly UK parents in future and I was wondering about getting my Thai wife to Ireland. (We married in the UK 6 years ago while on a visitor visa then returned to Thailand, Home Office approved us to get married as long as we left when her visa expired) I also have a friend in Ireland, I would happy to stay there. My great grand parents were Irish and would like to sight see. I'm not keen on the UK spouse route as its too harsh... so I wondered about getting her to Ireland but don't want to return to Thailand to apply...I see you can apply online(but it says you have to do it from her country of legal residence)...I'm not keen on posting her passport to them from Georgia as our apartment here doesn't have a proper mailbox although there could be some way around that. Also it asks for police background checks, not sure if thats for her or me, which sounds a PITA . Article here: Joining your UK national family member - Immigration Service Delivery That was just my thoughts, any tips appreciated

I press cancel and then it shows my account number like ***0**123 and says do you want to cancel for this account? and I click confirm, it takes a while processing then returns with something like "account is not registered on this service" .... but I definitely get a SMS everyday in the evening with my balance or whenever I make a transaction. And I definitely get charged 30 baht every month on the 20th (for 4 years). I never get charged 15 baht I only have 1 account, opened in 2020 20 Jul 2024 20:01 Commission/Annual Fee 30.00 20 Jun 2024 20:01 Commission/Annual Fee 30.00 20 May 2024 20:01 Commission/Annual Fee 30.00

My sms service for my Be1st Card / Savings account takes 30 baht a month for SMS every evening telling me my balance, I tried to cancel it by phone a few months ago and they told my wife that we'd have to go in to the branch. I'm not here to debate the fee anyway, maybe my service is different because I get texts for transactions and a balance everyday. Mine takes 30 baht every month on the 20th anyway, I've had the account over 4 years. * If you would like to change your mobile phone number or cancel service, select “Update mobile no.” or “Cancel service” and follow the on-screen instructions, then press “Confirm”. <Thanks but I tried 2 different ATM machines and followed the instructions and it wouldn't cancel.....I tried all the options... I might just leave it, they can cancel my account if they want, I don't see why I should go running around for them,I went today and they were closed...we're not planning on coming back to Thailand for at least a year

Yeah I doubt I'll transfer anything to it. I know with my Kasikorn bank that I left it for quite some time a few years ago and they never closed it but BKK might be different. Doesn't matter as we won't be coming back for a long time, I just didn't know if it would go in the red or something. I might still go into the branch and inform them I'm leaving I tried doing it at the ATM as it allows you to cancel some sms noto's there but I tried all and it didn't work It's actually a real PITA, I went out today and the branch near Icon Siam was closed for some reason....and you can't cancel via Phone...what should I do..I don't care about the account I just wondered if it will go in the red or something when they try to deduct 30 baht each month I don't really have time to mess around, flying in 3 days I might just call them again tomorrow and ask

Hi, I'm leaving Thailand and I'm taking all my money out of my BKK bank....when I opened the account they set up this service where I pay 30 Baht a month for the daily balance SMS notifications. I tried calling them once to turn this feature off but they said I had to go into a branch to do it. I was just wondering what will happen if theres no money in there for them to take, I think I'd like my account to stay on good terms in case we return another time.... I'm guessing I should pop into the branch before I leave?

thanks, it looks good, will try

Thanks, I was trying to reduce things because I don't want to be stuck with it days before I fly.. but my other half wants to play hard ball. I guess I will try posting more on Facebook. I did well with Facebook when we left there 6 years ago but this time I'm in BKK

Hi, I didn't know where to post this but I've been trying to clear all of our stuff out of our condo before we leave Thailand. I've tried Facebook and progress is very slow with some scammers messaging and some asking and then going quiet. The best progress we had was handing out flyers around the condo but someone snitched on us and the office won't let us put up a poster. Luckily we sold some of the big items but my wife has a ton of clothes we can't take on the plane, I suppose we can get someone to come pick stuff up for peanuts near the end? but we still have 2 weeks to go Anyone know any ideas?

95-105 Baht for 2 Litres of Milk on Grab and in TOPS... thats around £2.20 ... My mate just showed me £1.49 at Tescos in the UK. I always noticed Milk was not cheap here, I call it "White Gold" in this house...But Why? Do Dairy Cows go on Strike here?

thank you whats the exit certificate you're referring to? do you mean for my wife to exit Thailand? I don't know about PH as I've never been there but I'm thinking of traveling out of Thailand for a bit because want a break for Agents andImmigration trips here...also I heard to can get a fresh passport online(Brit) while in PH
-
I heard its fairly easy for farrang to extend their tourist visa there but what about Thai's? anybody stay there with their Thai wife beyond 30 days? I've been in Thailand 12 years but never been to PH... but having stress with visa's, just looking at options

I've had this True SIM card for several years now but the last year or so its started texting me every month saying your Phone number is about to expire..Top up to avoid SIM suspension. Theres a code *934*30# I type and then it extends another 30 days for 3Baht... I'm sure this never happened before. I know in the UK you can leave a PayAsYouGo SIM untouched for 6months-1 year before they cut you off I used to top up often but I just don't need money on there as I use my WIFI all the time, but I do need the SIM number to receive OTP codes for my bank which is what annoys me is I have to remember/fiddle about looking at text messages every 30 days to make sure they don't cut it off. I'm sure it wasn't like this before, this only started happening the last year or so.... **I have to Clarify, I leave money on the balance 150 baht etc but it still texts me, its like they are just nagging you to try and get you use their packages

I'm aware Agent's only facilitate the stamps, I was using it as short hand for "Stamps from Immigration offices facilitated by Agents" its only 1900 if you've never used an agent and go and do it at i/o yourself but I don't have 45 days left now so I can't do that, I only have the option of waiting on my agent. It was usually 35-40K a year for the last 3 years now there seems to be an issue this year
-
How long does a new passport take at the Trendy Building? I did it once before but I can't remember.... However, I can't do trips to immigration myself as mentioned(the 400K route requires 45 days prior) and my existing one runs out at the end of this month Its the cost of the agent to do it which is annoying me because its gone from $1000 a year to around $2000 ...thats crazy... so traveling for a bit was an option and I was wondering if I could apply for a fresh passport while I was away.. I heard there might be a Bird Flu Pandemic so it might not be wise to go traveling after all
-
Like I said above I've only got a few options now, 400K not possible, one being travel and the other being fork out crazy money to agent (over 3 years they've had 120K off me already) I'm just wondering if we could get out of Thailand for a bit(Ive been here since 2012 and a bit bored of it now), maybe find another country to settle in....I'm fed up of the Visa hassle here and the under the table fees if you use an agent I'm wondering if I can get a new passport at some point if we travel somewhere else..I've still got about 12 pages still left in my current one that doesn't expire until 2029..so no rush...would just be nice to get a clean one without agent stamps for if we did return... Don't know what to think but not keen on 75K fee this year, seems like they're taking the pis$.....I'll be hemorrhaging money each year if thats the case... 40K was bad enough Maybe it is different for all of you replying but don't forget I'm married...its not just like I'm deciding on a retirement visa...if I don't get my visa I have to leave my wife of 7 years
-
thanks for commenting/advice ....can you see my last comment......400K is an option(maybe not because they get funny if you previously used an agent) but I'm not keen on going to i/o either...I've been used to the luxury of doing nothing the past 3 years. (Last trip to I/O was in 2020) Edit: I can't do the 400K now as its too late..I was relying on the agent who I contact a month in advance each year, I've also done that 60 day visit family extension once in 2019 so thats not an option. So I only have a few options, potentially throw 75K away on the agent or try traveling somewhere....I'm not keen on the immediate countries either like Phillipines, Vietnam... they all have that seedy vibe to them as well..(Wife likes South Korea)

Thanks. That sounds very similar to FritsSikkink above. Like I said I'm not keen on border run's...I've done all that in the past too many times, it eats up passport pages and is hell in those little minibuses. I'm not keen on the 400K in the bank option, that will be an issue now I've used an agent previously....and is hard work Which leaves me with 3 options? 1.)wait and see if Agent comes back with the previous cheaper option...which risks me being forced to do the 75K baht plan B if we run out of time 2.) not worry about it and bend over and pay 75K baht anyway 3.) Travel together

I did the laos multi entry at Savannakhet several years ago and I don't like doing the visa runs, I've been in Thailand since 2012 and done it all, Ed visas 12 hour minibus trips.. tired of all that now. Did the 400K in the bank after 2020, me and my wife both sick of trips to immigration/anxiety so I paid Visa Agent the last 3 years.. Thanks for your suggestion though

Hi, I have a number of concerns, my marriage extension expires at the end of this month and I have already been in touch with my visa agent who I've had no problems with for the last 3 years they come and pick up my passport, I paid and they got the stamp. I don't want to divulge too much information about that, I'm more interested in getting answers to my questions below.... A few years back I did my marriage extension the in person way and put the 400,000 baht in the bank but after that had to pay an agent because it was easier and my wife got really stressed with the running around to i/o etc. This year is a different story, the visa agent is apparently having problems reaching their contact at whatever immigration office they usually get it and they told me to wait for a week or so...they said if they are unable to do it their usual way there is a back up option but I have to pay ฿75,000.. which is almost double what I've paid the previous 3 years. As you can imagine I'm not impressed by this proposal, actually I'm starting to get tired of paying the agent from year to year altogether...it was around ฿35,000 previously (+ extra ฿5K for them to update my wifes tabien bahn as we liked chilling at home letting them do everything). I hear retirement is much cheaper but I'm under 50. (41) I heard its a bit hard after you pay an agent to return to the official way of doing it with the 400K in the bank, I don't want to do that anyway for the time being as I hate doing all the running around as well.... I also heard if you travel out of the country and then come back with an agent visa stamp in your passport they can give you hassle coming in I would really like to take my wife to South Korea, its her dream but if we go there we'll only have 3 months and then need to up again ...we may end up traveling around a lot and that could get costly ...Does anybody know about long term visa's for SK or neighbouring countries?...I don't really want to teach or do anything I just want to live somewhere. I'm a Brit and its a big hassle to do paperwork to go back there and the prices have gone up for spousal. Just having a rant, I guess I need to decide soon...if the agent doesn't get back to me with the previous cheaper option I'm not keen on being bullied out of ฿75,000 What would you do?

Why True Fiber is so slow connecting abroad?
SteveJames replied to artotle's topic in IT and Computers
I'm trying to upload to Rumble as well, as far as I know their servers are not in Europe and are in US/Canada and the upload speed is shocking.. so it must be something more than the Cut Red Sea cables...plus you say Youtube videos are stuck which should also be US based...I wonder whats going on?:
