It doesn't mean that. I have always extended it by 60 days after the first 90 days ran out.

Done this 2 months ago. Forgot my bank book at home just showed a bank statement for last six months showing around 100k/month income, no funds in the bank. Very easy.

Just bought train ticket to penang, I am on ED visa for 9 months but not gonna extend it anymore, looking to get a tourist visa from there.

I also had 3 tourist visas from Penang before i got my ED visa.

Possibly an even poorer clarification. Maybe it should read:

"... if your most recent visa is an ED visa (with or without an extension), then the Penang Consulate will MAY refuse to issue you a Tourist Visa."

Your experience with showing an onward ticket from Thailand seemed to buck any blanket prohibition that Jim alludes to so good to note and thanks for the update. Hopefully some others will update on their Penang experience upon the expiration of their TD's.

Yes, poor choice of words. I should have said, if your most recent visa is an ED visa (with or without an extension), then the Penang Consulate will refuse to issue you a Tourist Visa. This is according to Jim. How strict will they be? This was my situation: my 2nd year ED extension from Phuket was expiring on April 3rd. However, I had already purchased a ticket to the USA for May 24 and so the print out of the ticket was presented with my application. They went ahead and gave me the Tourist Visa.

Any more info on this ?

Had the best holidays ever with her and thai gf sleeping same bed.

So stop beeing a cheap <deleted> and buy your gf a plane ticket. Can prob find offers for like 500€ or so 2 way if you know where to look.

Just came from penang with a visa run company, one of the well known ones, it was very very easy, got the single entry but didnt set foot into consulate, they took care of everything.

I think you can get the same services by flying and then checking in at banana hotel in georgetown. Basically hotel manager or somthing like that took care of everything visa related.

I'm from Romania and can confirm internet is godlike there. Think maybe fastest in the world or top 3 anyways.

That's cause infrastructure is brand new.

Nope. My first visa was from my home country.

Heard last week of this thing happening and I'm happy I haven't booked a flight back to Thai yet.

So after I spent whole morning waiting in line (it was basically full room and full outside, got there at 9:45) they rejected me and asked for more docs.

They were doing this to most of Falangs there from what I've seen.

Few questions:

My bank account although pretty large is in my country's currency (Romanian). Should I just give the statement like that and hope they get the picture?

I can get the letter from the company I work for but what is form 49?
