  1. 1. Not wearing a helmet

The police can take along a good selection of helmets with them and apart from the usual fine, make the offenders purchase a helmet, so they can legally drive of after having paid the fine.

    2. Anyone purchasing a vehicle must produce a valid Thai driving licence. If not give them 7 days to present themselves at nathon police station with a valid licence, remembering having no licence invalidates any insurance you might have including medical.

    3. Anyone driving without lights impound the bike inposing a daily storage charge until they have corrected the problem.

    4. Children driving motorbikes, impound the bike and fine the parents.

i am sure many more to be added.

  2. In recognition of the massive growth faced by Samui, Phangan and Tao over the past years the Surat Thani Governor has vowed to dedicate 100% of the income from taxes from these islands to help develop adequate infrastrucure; rebuild roads, install sewage systems, and to ensure adequate water and electricity. There is also a plan to purchase water desalination plants and purchase "green" rubbish incinerators.

Better late than never, but i suspect he is just trying to silence the critics with regard to his refusal af granting samui city status although it meets all the requirements as layed out in the constitution

  3. As SBK say's,wonder if any punishment will be dished out too this low-life. Let's hope it goes the same way as the fisherman, that raped on Lamai beach, they were put too death, hopefully this scumbag is as well. :o

I think their sentence was commuted to lofe

  4. Depends on location, day of the week, and how the BIB are feeling that day. Friday closing lower Suk at midnight was a bit extreme. There are a few exceptions – bars and areas that have been able to remain open after most places have been closed, but 1AM seems to be a fairly regular closing time for now.

1am seems ok as i understand that is the law, midnight surely is abuse of power by the BIB, i CANT IMAGINE WHAT TOURISTS ARE THINKING, you go on holiday to be packed of to bed at midnight.

  5. I believe that it is not possible to have road tax without proper insurance, ie you will not be issued with road tax without purchasing insurance prior or there and then.

However i have heard of 2 incidents recently where drivers of 125cc bikes have been told after accidents that they were only covered to drive up 2 a 50cc bike.

I would assume Surrathanni has a database that would show drivers or their bikes that have no road tax and hence no insurance, information that should be passed on to police. Surely it would not be to difficult to stop all bikes etc with no number plates or suspended number plates. A nice big fine should help pay for addministration man hours required for this task.

Where do you find a bike under 50cc?

    Most bikes are 49cc

  6. I HAD A similar thing happen to me last year when i was leaving the airport.

As i got thru the scanner thing,a couple of young Indian, bangladeshi i presume young guys just so ever without hesitation walked up to me and pushed in front of me,im 6ft and 150kg but that didnt bother them.

I told them to get out of the way until a lady customs officer come up to me and told me to stop shouting so i left the 3 idiots in front of me.

Funnily enough they were getting on the same plane as me back to Australia.

When the plane arrived in Sydney the next morning i followed the 3 amigos to customs and showed my Australian Govt ID Badge to the customs officer reporting the 3 males as suspicious, they were all taken to a room i presume to be searched,i waved and smiled at them as they were led away to receive the gloved finger.

    Absolutely Brilliant, :o

  7. anyone know the details?...incredible!...Samui has got to be one of the least safe places on planet :o , especially for western women, they are constantly raped and killed here! :D Sorry to say it, but I am ashamed of this island.

    Daily News, March 28.

At 8.00 am on March 26 the Koh Samui police received a report from Ban don inter Samui hospital that a foreign tourist had been raped. Police found 'Cherry' aged 20, in a state of shock, with a fellow Australian girl comforting her.

'Cherry' and her friend had rented rooms at Samuang House Resort, before the incident Cherry had been sleeping in one room whilst her friend was in an adjacent room.

A man had then entered her room, dark skinned, wearing a black Tshirt and shorts and armed with a sharp knife, he warned her not to resist or cry out. Squeezing her neck, he raped her before fleeing with her mobile phone, cash and passport.

Police believe the villain is a man from the local area and said his arrest will follow soon as the crime seriously damages tourism.

  8. The 'International Sports and Cafe Bar' is officially opening on 1st October and i would like to thank all members that gave support and advice. We are having an opening bash starting at 9pm on the 1st October, with happy hour prices all night long with a barbie or buffet.

On Monday 3rd we then open from noon until 2am, so if you fancy a coffee or light lunch, watch a movie or whatever, we look forward to being of service.

We dont play excruciating head banging music.

    Hope to Cu There

    Robert

  9. Also dont forget about a liquor license and cigarette license.  Cheap to get at the Nathon Ampur, but without it expect trouble if visited by the 'locals'.  They both must be displayed along with copy of company papers, etc.

New pool/snooker tables available at BOSS snooker, about 2km past Nathon on the left on the way to Lamai.  Cost 38K snooker --> 55K pool +/- (non-coin op.)

Best of luck and see you on opening night!!!

In the process of getting the license and got my pool table from boss, fridge and 80% of furniture arrives tomorrow and plasma tv on saturday. Still scheduled to open on 23rd but may delay official opening until 1st October.

    Thanks for the advice

    Robert

  10. How about the wicker chairs, stools, tables etc, you often see them for sale in shops around the ring road and there pretty cheap and I think look good.

Where is your new bar by the way?

New bar is at Green Mango, before the head banging zone. the current motorbike parking is being removed and paved over and the Bar is opening (hopefully on 23rd September, it will be called '1st Impression's' or something non girly.

    I will keep you posted.
