Sad to see victim blaming here. Each of us has fallen for a deception at some time but maybe not as bad as this. Human trafficking has millions of victims every year, sometimes fatal consequences, there is no excuse for the perpetrators and to blame victims is pure arrogance and bastardry.

If I have any dreams about my former wife, they are usually nightmares. The marriage ended back in the mad century.
agree completely, after seeing recent photos of it I'd say a nightmare

In BKK for a couple of weeks in April and the bars I frequented were same as 4 years ago - just a new batch of ladies and not as many customers. Can't comment on closing time, in bed by midnight at my age.
The reopening had pretty well already happened.

not at all scientific, but a few girls I have met here say that when they test positive they just go to their room for a few days until negative. I'm betting the numbers are already very high and the reported cases the proverbial tip of the iceberg.

Great advice until you try and fail the verification despite giving them everything you have including the name of the first cat you ever owned , and then you read all the posts on the crypto forum and realise you are not alone.
I had 3 or 4 tries - their email communications to me were quite good. The platform is good, like everything Thai you just have to roll with the punches. Zipmex was also fairly easy.

Wrong question on my part regarding the annual renewal. What I want to know is, does the Elite Visa still require you to report to an immigration office annually? I have heard that you get a 60 day window of time at the end of your annual stamp to report to immigration. The reason I ask, is I travel in and out of the Kingdom often, sometimes for extended periods, and if I should not be here during my 60 day window, then when I return, theoretically, my TE Visa would not be in effect? If you (or anyone else reading this knows) could clarify the actual annual reporting requirements beyond the 90 day requirement... Thank you in advance.
Each entry you get a 12 month stamp, you can come and go any time. I suppose you may need to go out and re-enter 12 months from last entry to get another stamp, or perhaps the Elite Visa people help arrange the next 12 months, seems you would need to get stamp renewed in some fashion I suppose. I have not needed to think about this. I have found the office very responsive to any queries, unusual in Thailand for sure.

For me... I have looked at this issue for several years now coming in and out on tourist VISA's... as my current work takes me in and out of the kingdom frequently. But, when I fully pull the plug and slow down on work, it will be clear enough for me and for my peace of mind, body and soul, instead of parking the 800,000 in a nearly non existent interest bearing account that I won't be able to use the entire time I am retire here, I might as well just give them the money and for 20 years I have no worries, No worries about any current or future changes to all the VISA issues. The 20 year TE VISA works out to 4,166 baht per month. I would pay 5 times that amount in taxation costs living back in my home country... I am still getting a deal in Thailand.
The elite visa suits people that have the cash and don't want any future hassles. I am currently on the 5 year visa, got it when baht was a touch lower, paid it on a rewards credit card which gave me half an economy round trip to oz. I come to Thai 6 times a year, they meet me at the gate, take me through immigration and provide transport to my hotel. When I leave same in reverse and put me in the first class lounge while I wait for flight.
They say they assist with 90 day report, banking and drivers licence etc but I have not needed.
The 20 year is actually 4 x 5 year back to back visas, there is no annual renewal. When my current visa expires in 2 years I will decide which way I will go, I place a bigger value on lack of hassle than many people and will probably take on the 20 year visa. I really find no joy in ongoing dealing with bureaucracy as many people seem to do, then they get to complain about it.
In the end it is as they say up to you.

when you enter on an elite visa you get a 1 year stamp, I think this is what he meant.

I have the 5 year one currently, the cost was 100,000b per year. because I’m not full time my annual travel insurance covers me. Once I go full time living here I don’t know that a deciding factor on another elite visa will be health insurance. More likely not doing the annual renewal dance etc is more to mind, and the exchange rate when it falls due.

I'm with Bangkok Bank. the atm card is also a visa card - but does not offer credit, works as a debit card I suppose - in other words you spend your own money but can still use visa payment method on the net etc. I had heard there was some tightening of issuing bank accounts use of internet banking to farangs recently but I have had no communication from the bank that changes my existing arrangements..

The course is finally open but certainly not finished. There are six holes open for play and there are a few caddies. Course is walk only but i see some concrete cart paths being constructed. Course has potential, narrow fairways, some water and greens should come on well.

Both Nok Air and Air asia have the bus transfer included in their price. Just book to Mukdahan not Ubon Ratchatani. However if one wants to get there later evening, there is a an AA 18:00 flights that is does not have the option of pre-booking the bus.Hi,
I have a house in Mukdahan and travel there several times a year. To get to Mukdahan the most cost effective way is Nok air Don Muang to Ubon Ratchatani then taxi. the Nok flight should cost you about 2500b return, the taxi is about 2200b each way. you can get the VIP mini buses cheaper, Ubon-Mukdahan but I refuse to travel on them.
Laos visa should be paid is USD to avoid exchange scamming. E.g. various nationalities pay $35.The taxi will take you to the bridge for crossing. Visa entry to Laos for most is currently 1700b and you will need a passport photo.
True, but when I crossed in August they had taken down the sign for USD various nationalities and were charging baht, guy gave me dumb look (you know the look) when I asked about USD.

The bus from Bangkok is less than b700 and puts you in before 0700.
Did not know flts to muk ftom puk direct, stand corrected.
Yes the bus is cheap, and you can get VIP minibus cheaply as well. I won't travel on them as have seen too many off the side of the road after accidents. Will happily pay an extra couple of thousand baht and maybe have a better chance of arriving in 1 piece.

The taxi will take you to the bridge for crossing. Visa entry to Laos for most is currently 1700b and you will need a passport photo. Bus over the bridge is 40b (i think) and in Laos there is a variety of taxi's - tuk tuks to get around on. take a fair amount of small baht denominations as taxis etc want to give change in Laos currency which is useless outside Laos.
Alternatively you can fly BKK - Savanakhet direct, the daily flight has been cut to about 4 per week but is quite good, only 50 minutes or so and the service is efficient (for SE Asia). This costs about USD150 each way but is hassle free. Savanakhet has a good variety of accommodation I am told.
-
Ubonjoe is absolutely correct. Go to Savannakhet, it is the soft option - much more relaxed with far fewer people making applications. I was there a couple of weeks ago and obtained a Non O for looking after my young son and they were issuing multi entry visas no problem. You can get direct flights from BKK to Savannakhet, but they are costly and infrequent and may involve an extra day in Savannakhet. Maybe better to fly to Khon Kaen or Roi et and take a bus to Mukdahan.
Laos air is now flying daily to Savannakhet. the cost is about USD120 each way.

by the way the old course is now 9 holes two par 4 - 7 par three affectionately called the Dog Track
Hi, just finished small home in Nikhom, I found the small 9 hole near the city but heard there was another course in the area as well. Maybe the one you refer to as the old course? The course had no hire clubs so suppose will need to buy a set here or bring a set from home next trip. If you are free for a hit sometime would love to join you.

fly bkk-ubon on nok several times a year - planes are relatively new, you get free seat allocation when booking and seats are roomy enough for a 1 hour flight. will put up with the transfer bkk to DM and rather fly nok than thai.

Well an airport in mukdahan would be nice , heard they planned to fix the old nikhom khamsoi one
But guess its just wishfull thinking
Didnt know there was anything near nikhom, agree this area is a pain to go to and from, i usually go in via ubon and out via savanahket, expensive pain in the behind.

Try and buy one ! I'm in Mukdahan, been trying to buy one and all i get is stupid looks. Asked Toyota dealer, and been to nearly every large shop in area, nobody has.
TM30 for the first time

my situation slightly different as staying at home with wife. went to Mukdahan office with wife, girls sat with me showing how to register wife as TM30 host on their PC. Their system gave her username and password based on my email but only did 90% as could not attach files to their PC.
When home logged into the account, loaded a scan of her house book and ID and she fully registered - logged in again, entered my details and I am registered for TM30. Each time I come now no more TM30 hassle, log onto wife's account and report myself for TM30.
