  1. Hello,

Could someone tell me if there are any BIG auto parts stores in Bangkok?  Not Big C or any of these part stores that only sell lubricants and windshield wipers etc.  Are there no stores like Auto Zone or NAPA?  Need stuff like shocks, windshield washer pump etc.

    Thanks!

  2. The wife wants to add some concrete around the house and cut down on the yard work. Everyone I spoke to that does concrete has no idea what expansion joints are of course. Has anyone added concrete and had this problem? Wondering where on earth I can buy this stuff without dealing with international shipping costs or is there something else that will work?

    Thanks,

    Richard

  3. This is old news. It was brought back last year before December. I switched to Chang when they did their sneaky switch downsizing and raising the price as well. Guess they lost too much revenue. I started buying it by the case since late last year as Chang gives me a headache.

  4. Passport

    medical certificate

letter of residence from immigration, or your embassy

Current foreign licence - if its not in english you (may) need a translation

without a current licence, thai or otherwise, you'll have to do a driving test

Thank you Jon. I appreciate the information. I a license in English. So i just need to get a medical certificate and letter from Thai immigration. Thanks again!

  5. Okay I bought a new Garmin Nuvi 55. I just registered it online and updated the software. Now every time I turn it on I have to change the language to English from Thai. I emailed Garmin and they said when you choose your locale it which is Thailand of course, it will default to Thai language. I guess they think only Thai people use it. Anyone have this problem or a solution?

I don't have that problem with my cheap Nuvi 55. It always comes on in English. I also updated the map via the Internet. I'd have to study the thing on how to even change languages. Garmin has very poor customer support. Morris from Eagle GPS helped me overcome a problem in one of my old Nuvi units. I bought the Nuvi 55 from Eagle GPS, so his previous support gained him a customer.

Do you have Thai and English available on the unit? The guy at the store pointed out on a typed piece of paper inside the box that says if you download an update from Garmin that is English only then the Thai will be wiped out and cannot be brought back. Strange because Garmin has a program to download to the computer for updates. I don't get to choose anything just updates it automatically.
