  1. how many of the "provisional" bids are eventually accepted but I suspect we'll only hear reports of "another successful auction" in the press releases masquerading as newspaper articles.

The reason for that is simple. The man backing this so far farce is the publisher of a dirty newspaper and a small so called house magazine which is full of his own promotional crap about these wonderful auctions

  2. Going back to an earlier point you made (about how much to factor in for the cost of maintaining your Thai boyfriend), I'm with those who don't think it's good to pay a guy to live with you...... i.e. it's way better if he has some kind of job. Against which, no way do I see it as appropriate to think in terms of splitting my household bills with him. He's welcome to benefit from living with me and I would also be happy to look at some way of giving him a bit extra (i.e. on top of his earnings) - on the basis that I should be able to share my good fortune with him. BTW, that's "fortune" as in luck - not as in financial assets :o .

Well said, agree 100% with you on this. I had a relationship with a guy for 6 months. When we started to go out I told him he had to work as I was not a money tree, and also because he was young and I work full time here and was not going to support him. He did get a job. I told him I would rent a room for him and bump up his salary a little. After a couple of weeks he left his job. I again told him he had to get another one, or how was he going to live. He did, realising that I was not going to be a push over. Eventually we split up due to him keep leaving jobs for stupid reasons, hoping eventually to wear me down I guess.

You must set the rules, its your money.

  3. If you want to talk about barboys there are other forums you can go to which will allow it. TV are rather shortsighted IMO in stopping this topic. TIT

Well I'm sure It'll be no loss to TV if you go to those "other forums" and post to your hearts content... :o

    totster :D

I am sure you'll be no loss to. Interestingly I have noticed a very prolific poster here has recently found the same forum. He has just said how pleased he was with the replies he got to his question.

  4. I have today received the following information from Sophon Cable TV which I am sure will be of interest to board members who subscribe to Sophon Cable TV. As from 20th July they are revamping their channel line-up. Reality TV, Eurosport News and Living Asia Channel and one of the Sophon Movie Channels are a selection of discontinued channels.

If you wish to voice your opinion on the changes (I have aleady complained about the removal of the Reality TV channel) please contact Sophon Cable directly as per their request.

How many names is this guy using? PCN, Howard The Volunteer and now this one!

  5. I did professional youth work for many years, raised six children through their teenager years, and spent the last two years teaching Matayom 1 and 3.  The guy who delivers the groceries to our condo looks 13.  He's 23.  You can't tell.  You can guess, but experts don't even guess because it's way too hard to guess well.

The first day my 36 year old Thai b/f and I went to the public pool, I spent some time taking to a young man I presumed to be 18.  My b/f guessed the guy was in Matayom 1 (which I was teaching then).

Child prostitution is wrong, regardless of gender.

Yes of course its wrong, and I am glad to see someone with some sense and not

just creating a problem out of something he mis-judges. When eljeque (French maybe?) looks he see's a kiddie fiddler, when the majority of others look they see a parent and child, or a man with another 18 year old man, or a 20 year old man.

  6. Khun Guy is a woman.  She used to hang out in front of McDonald's - Royal Garden.  A friend of mine pointed her out to me noting that she had been out there for at least a few weeks selling the children.  He did not know why the police, who walk up and down the street all of the time, day and night, had yet to pick her up.

I live here in Pattaya, so I do not know if Bkk is the same or not.  The other night I was in Friendship Supermarket and saw a foreign man come in with his younger (13 years old) male friend.  I was in Royal Garden the day prior and watched another mature foreign male hop off the baht bus with two young (15/16 year old) male friends.  There was no doubt as to the relationships.

It is on a far smaller scale today than it was 15 years ago, when 14 year old girls ran up and down what is now called Walking Street and also Beach Road.  Now, girls in that age range are the exception.  I assume that boys are as well, but the boy areas are not where I frequent, so I cannot claim to be an expert on the subject by any means.

I hope I do not meet you when I am in Pattaya with my 13 year old Thai son and his friends.

I dread to think what you would be imagining.

How true. People like these need to be careful what they say about others. If I am walking down the street or in Royal Garden with my 14 year old step son and I grab his hand to help across the road which is a NATURAL parental thing to do and you take my photo then post it on this forum accusing me of being a kiddy fiddler you better pray I don't find you.

You are making a judgement on something when you are not fully aware of the truth. You are guessing as is your gf. I was talking to a Thai businessman the other day and I complimented him on how well he had done with himself whilst being so young. I'm not that young he says. I guess you are early to mid 20's I say. Thanks he says, but I am 36. I couldn't believe it. He only looked about 23 to me. This is what I mean, I was 13 years or so out with my judgement. You only need to be 3 or 4 years out and you are accusing someone of something that they haven't done.

And BTW Mattnich you're talking cr@p. 20 is the legal age for taking somone into a bar/club. 18 is the legal age for prostition, and legally they can work in a gogo bar at 18, just leagally not be a customer. So if I was to take a 19 year old off I would not be committing anything against the law.

  7. How can you be so sure of the ages? Its a very dangerous thing to start quoting ages of Thai's. Do you know these boys? If not, how do you know they weren't 18?

  8. Pattaya`s Tourist Police Division is determined to eradicate child prostitution here in Pattaya. It is however a sad fact that some foreigners come to Pattaya and indulge in this illegal activity. An operation using three foreigners posing as potential customers took place on Pattaya Beach infront of the Royal Garden Plaza.  Using marked bank notes, the three men spoke with a suspected pimp later identified as Khun Guy aged 25 and requested three under age girls for a total of 5,000 baht.  An arrangement to meet the girls was made just outside the Kiss restaurant on Pattaya Second Road.  As soon as the transaction was complete, Police moved in and arrested Khun Guy and detained three girls aged 11, 13, and 14.  Back at the Police Station, Police Captain Chirawat, who was in charge of the operation, questioned Khun Guy who confessed to using the girls as prostitutes.  She was charged and transported to the main Police Station.

Police are now attempting to locate the parents of the three girls.

    Pattaya City News

    Friday 8th July 2005.

It is perhaps a sadder fact that this horrible business is more frequently kept behind doors for Thais only. When will the police sort out their own instead of (again) blaming the farang.

Here here. And you can bet your life none of the police forces will do sting operations on thier own to catch them. This guy will come uner the wing now of the police and they will take thier cut and of his income.

  9. Whether you like it or not people read articles in PCN - people love watching train wrecks.

Yes, there are some who are entertained by watching another persons pain and suffering...and there are others who don't share their morbid fascinations.

Well u read it, so you are part of the morbid crowd!!! :o:D

Nope, the interest is not the content of the articles. It's curiosity as to the motivation

behind numerous PCN postings and the possible affilication of the poster.Negitive articles posted on (this forum) will not help bring business to Pattaya. It is a disservice to the business people in Pattaya, and perhaps a little selfserving.

Um, interesting! Never noticed that toklong but you are right. Every article quoting PCN was started by britmaveric. Whats the connection do you think?

  10. just shows what a sad lot live in Pattaya if you look at the poll results. Just a few weeks ago people were slating PCN/TPV/snitch for reporting and photographing the rape girl. Now you're telling him its alright to promote crap on his TV station. You can't have you cake and eat it.

  11. I had never eaten a subway sandwich prior to doing so in Thailand. I really don't what all the fuss is about. I guess most of the positive posts are from homesick yanks, because for the rest of us they are sh1t.

If a subway sandwich in Thailand is the same as a subway sandwich in the US, then I can't understand how they have become so popular worlwide. Give me a good old fashioned British sandwich made from a freshly cut loaf of bread, stuffed with English Cheddar and pickle ANYDAY.

  12. 180 local business operators discuss Tourism problems here in Pattaya.

At Pattaya City Hall, Khun Niran, the Mayor of Pattaya chaired this meeting along with Khun Sansak, the former Sport and Tourism Ministerial Adviser along with Khun Raiwat from the Chonburi Provincial Council. 180 local business operators were invited along to discuss ways to increase the image of Pattaya in Thailand and the rest of the world. Many delegates offered advice to the meeting including Mr. Drew Noyes, who suggested that Pattaya City Hall should utilize the private sector more to assist them in this matter. Recent events such as the Asian Earthquake and the suggested over-reporting of crime in local newspapers and television were also brought up as reasons behind the low tourism numbers being experienced here in Pattaya at present. A further meeting is expected in the coming weeks.

So I guess they will now try to stop the newspapers reporting crimes ! !

I think Mr Drew Noyes is the man behind the new Happy News Channel. Says it all really doesn't it?

  13. Of course the R.C caters for Thai clients. There are many well off Thai's who frequent the R.C.

Its a nice hotel, but as others have said now starting to show its age in someways, and IMO over priced.

The Areca Lodge hotel is nice I agree, and the pools are great as is the location and it offers value for money, but its not in the same league as the R.C.

  14. Becareful fourbaht, you'll upset the fat bald guy :D

What a scope for the fat bald guy revolutioning english news in fun town this week. The guy who gave the young lady a dose of clap 12 months ago clapped eyes on him smacked him over the head with a bottle. To the rescue of this falang with a headache THE I WANT TO BE A COP FALANG BRIGADE marching the pair of them off to the nick where the young lady was charged with assault. The sad part about this is the PRETEND COPS standing behind the couple grinning and pointing the finger all shown on PATTAYA SH TTY NEWS what a sad state of affairs if that is the best the fat ALLMIGHTY PRETEND COP can come up with please put every one out of misery and look for a different pastime cop work is affecting your day job.

Talking of day jobs for the fat guy, I understand from a mate of mine who has a property development company in town, that the PSN reporter is now a real estate agent working for an office somewhere around Jomtien. Wonder if he has a Work Permit for this as well as his famous job and the pretend cop role? Should equal 3 W.P's for Khun H? :o:D

  15. 35,000 for a 1 million B company is expensive. That is the usual price for a 2 million baht company.

By shopping around you will see the average is 25,000 Baht. And that is by reputable well known lawyers also such as Magna Carta on Pattaya Tai plus others.

  16. why don't you go and ask the already moved in people who are living there?

if they are happy they'll tell you, if not they will definetely tell you!

unfortunately there are quite a few very vocal anti farang developers who post on here so all you will get is negativety.

personally I have seen the houses first hand as I went to the launch party last year and I think they are very good, thats coming from someone in the business who hasn't got anything to gain from you buying there.

p.s if you do buy one, go for the basement option that looks out to the pool :D

Yeah, and don't believe people who say they are developers, or "in the business" what does that mean? Partial? I don't think so!

If you think they are ok, then you go for them, its your money, not ours. Personally I think that usually theres no smoke without fire. As you said, there has already been stuff written about this developement. They do seem pricey, but so does a lot of stuff to me now. Not like the good old days, when I bought my first place here :o
