  1. I often catch a taxi from BKK to Phimai ...50kms past Korat on the Mitraphap Highway. From the airport taxi rank it is always 2,700 to 2,800 all up for tolls airport surcharge and fuel. the most I have paid is 3k. Also I buy soe drinks or snacks for the driver along the way and often a tip. This is the price given to me no haggling. Last time the guy put the meter on and it came to 27k. Good value whe the guy has to drive back.

  2. Agree with Coulson. Driving in Saudi with a declared 21 road deaths a day at the site of the accident plus those that die in the ambulance and those in hospital make it the most deadly place in the world to drive according to a recent independent report. Driving in Thailand is much safer based on first hand current experience in both nations every month.

  3. Check the maximum duration out of your country of residency - many policies have 30, 60 or 90 day limits. I have difficulty finding an affordable travel insurance policy for work with holiday. The best I could buy was a yearly contract with a maximum 120 day combined out of Australia on any one journey. Seems there are much more competitive options from the United Kingdom.

  4. I have been involved with our village for about 12 years. Now making ready 4 rai on the edge backing a lake with house site + odourless (Philippino design) pig pen (yes it works), 6 large commercial fish ponds (looking for barramundi fingerlings and yabbies for the last 2 ponds), a lime tree orchard, bananas, crops for the pigs to forage, chook house, greenhouse etc. I am implementing the Kings closed biosystem step by step. I love the place and can only share a history of positive experience and acceptance. However with the sage advice from my wife I/we have worked conscientiously to participate in village activities and make a contribution to the community. My farung family has always been warmly embraced. Being involved has at times been a challenge but certainly worth the effort. I am 55.

  5. I fly to Thailand continuously. Generally using a return tkt to BKK from BKK. I am always departing before the 30 days for work. Australian pp. Several years ago I was asked for my return tkt in BNE at check in. I showed my pp which indicated the constant travel and means of support (credit cards) and explained I was waiting for a client to specify dates before making a booking out of Thailand. I have never been asked again- by any airline. Lufthanza, Air Asia, Qantas, Thai, Qatar, Emirates, Air India, British.

  6. Have to confirm that the village I live in isaan is not 'red'. They were swooned by the THB1,000,000 for each village. Now there is more debt than ever before. The rice scheme hss compounded the debt. Many families are losing their ancestral land to black market money lenders. They are hard working family oriented people who want to farm and feed their families. Their key focus is on keeping life going. They seem to be sick and tired of BKK politics with little faith in politicians of any persuasion. It is an incorrect assumption that the North East is 'red' or any other colour.

  7. OP: The URL below should guide you in the right direction. Note within the Section headed “Partly foreign owned Thai real estate holding company” it states:

“The foreign heirs as the actual owners by succession have the right to claim the company assets by legal action, but will have to sell the real estate involving land pursuant the Land Code Act within 1 year from the date of acquisition by inheritance”

    http://www.samuiforsale.com/knowledge/inheritance-laws-thailand.html#3

Excellent straightforward legal advice and available in Thai and English combined documents - a big help to my wife and I as we ensure we are both protected in Oz and here in Thaland - THANKS!
