  1. Hi all,

I rode a C90 in the UK for years - took my test etc. It didn't have a clutch, just a 3 sp manual shift. As for step throughs - yes it defeinitely referes to the body/frame type (in my neck of the woods!). Still, what the hel_l. All bikes are fun, some more than others. I used to be Chief Motorcycle Riding Instructor for the National M/C Training Course in the UK - anyone remember that? Wow, them were the days - I was getting paid for riding bikes!! I've had all sorts of bikes since, but I still really like scoots. Living in Aussie now, but have ridden Waves, Dreams, Mio's etc when I'm in LOS. I took out an Aprilia Scarabeo 500 last week for a test ride (yes 500 cc scoot!!) Unbelievable. But I've got my eye on a Gilera Nexus 500. The Suzuki Bergman 650 (and other maxi-scooters) don't do it for me. Google them and have a look. Good grief, if only I could get those in Thailand when I come to live! Anyone know if there are maxi-scooters in Thailand?

    Cheers

  2. It all seems way too complicated, me married to a thai, with 1/2 thai son, will, in 5-10 years want to go and build a house and live in, now no problems for the mrs and son but what about me, i want to set up a small business or 3 on the wifes behalf for her family or try and set ip a mail order business run via friends family in the uk. and live off that nothing big just enough to get buy, now only being 32 say 40 at the time it happens what are my best options regards to visas?

Goodness knows. I'm somewhat in the same situation. I've been with a Thai girl for nearly 2 years now and am currently saving to move from Australia to Thailand (North East). Last time I was there I helped her set up a business (going very well too !) and I have another 3 that I want to start when I get there. I love Thailand - the place, culture, food and of course my fiance. Her family and friends are truly wonderful and I feel completely welcome and the happiest I've ever been when I'm there. We're to be married there, but good grief it all seems a lot of hassle for me to come, marry, live and work with all the visa requirements etc. I'm not even sure how long I could stay with her in Thailand after we're married. I mean, do I have to leave the country for a period of time after 12 months? Yes it's harder to get in to Australia now - probably like many countries - but you can do it with the right checks done and even get citizenship after a qualifying period (I'm English, but now hold Australian citizenship and passport). I may suggest she comes here instead, but I've met Thai (and Malay, Filipinas etc) girls who now live in other countries and they really seem to lose their "Thai-ness" and take on a lot of the ways of the country they live in. If I wanted a western girl I'd get one. It would be like taking a Bird of Paradise out of the jungle and sticking it in a zoo. Hence I'd prefer to go there, contribute positively to the Thai economy, have a family, set up more businesses and be happy!

  3. Hi all,

Yes I think it's about time I gave up. Male 42, only been smoking for the last 8 years at about 17 a day. Ok, I promise to stop having these stupid cancer sticks, and I start tomorrow. I'll get patches tonight then I officially get started (stopping!) tomorrow!

PS Good luck to us all! Hey it's good knowing I ain't the only one trying to do this!

  4. I just want to say thank you to Totster. I really had a laugh when I read your comment about the mental image. I'm thinking of sending the original news item to my dearest in Thailand (I'm in Australia) so she can see that she will have to spend a large amount of time playing hide the salami to keep me fit and well.

    Cheers

  5. :o Hi all,

I've only just found this forum - I think it's great! I've a few questions that I hope someone can help me with.

Having met a lovely Thai girl, it is more than likely we will eventually get married in Thailand (Udon) and then live in Australia (where I am based). I'm an Australian citizen.

From the Australian side, as I live here and am a citizen I can find out what I need to do (Spouse Sponsorship) so that isn't a problem.

What I'm having trouble understanding is what is required from the Thai side. For example:

    1) What visa do I need to get to enter Thailand for a visit and to get married? (Different visa's required?)

    2) What documentation do I need to provide for marriage to a Thai national in Thailand? (passport presumably - other?)

    3) We both have been married before and neither of us have children. I know that I have to present a translated divorce settlement to Thai officials. Anything else I need to provide?

    4) As she has been married before (and I read a post about someone not being able to get married because the spouse had not finalised her divorce), what do I need to check so I am sure she is divorced? (Yes I will ask her, but I want to know what steps she should have taken to get divorced).

Can't think of anything else right now. Just hoping someon has gone through the same - gone to Thailand, got married, come back to Australia with Thai wife.

    Thanks for reading my questions!

    Cheers

    Phil :D
