    No problem. Don't forget 2 passport photos, the completed form (both sides if Tourist Visa) and a photocopy of your passport bio page.

    Let us know if you need more info, and please post again here if there is anything different or unusual when you apply for your visa - helps everyone out to have up to date info!

    Just to confirm, my wife went this morning to the Embassy. She went by car (coming from Samut Prakhan) and she has been blocked in a trafic jam for long time, but once there everything was ok: she waited 2 hours in a queue and was number (about) 250 , then other 30 minutes at the desk. She asked for a standard visa in 3 days.

    We are just coming back from Myanmar with my german husband. We booked everything via http://birma.com/

    Like you, we didn't want a guide, the agency gave us only what we asked for (flights, hotels and car). Quality of service was pretty good and we were able to pay by credit card (to keep a track for the travel insurance). smile.png

    Myanmar was amazing, people are so friendly but food is not as good as in Thailand...

    Thank you KellyKa, I'm already in touch (and waiting for the final quotation) with another agency that I was suggested by a private message here. It seems very good too, but if the price will be too high may be i will ask to birma.com for a secpond option.

    No reports at all to suggest any problem with the embassy at the moment.

    Just be prepared for queues - last week the embassy staff reported numbers of applicants as 1,600 people on Monday and 1,300 people on Tuesday.

    Tuesday-Thursday always best for pick ups, so aim your application day with this in mind.

    Remember that there are 3 available turnaround periods:

    Same Day - Must show proof of air ticket for travel that day or the next. Apply morning, pick up same afternoon 15.30-16.30

    Next day. - pick up following afternoon

    Second Day - pick up afternoon 2 days after applying

    Embassy is open 9.00am-12.00pm for applications, 3.30pm-4.30pm for collections.

    I will go for my personal visa only on Feb 3rd.., I hope situation will be less messy for that time

    Considering the worst case scenario (well, perhaps not even the worst ..xunsure.png.pagespeed.ic.E7Vo3qsmeC.png) .. in the case of a military coup .. I'd like to understand the impact on the daily life of a tourist .. those who lived through the coup of 2006 may remember what happened? airports closed? curfew?, difficulty moving? .... everywhere in Thailand? and how long the situation has been really difficult?

    The search has probably more to do with the posters own stuff, then the missing. The poster even admit they talked on a forum only and have never even met and is basically going off a forum exchange letters and what someone had said behind a computer screen.

    I suspect hte poster is someone who wants to disappear on his own, but can't. Or is somehow projecting his fear and anxiety onto a penpal he has never even met.

    Donniereadit your Freudian supposition is simply crazy (but funny I admit..). Sometimes the reality is much more simple then you can imagine and I would like that for a moment you could realize the facts are as I told.. Write to me privately and I will give you all the evidence (Italian Forum) related to this vanishing. Of course you have to translate from Italian. In that debate I’m not the protagonist, cause as I told you the search was not opened by me but by one of the best friend of the missing person, a friend of me that was talking to the missing frequently by skype, until the disappearance

    And It is not important whether I am or not a close friend of him ... I have already explained the dynamics of group from which it was born this search. May be my English is a bit more understandable of others of group, then I can write here..

    I think that to have an answer when almost certainly it happened one of the hypotheses that I have indicated, is a human duty not towards the relatives (who are not) or towards his best friends that guide the search, but towards the same missing person

    However, everyone is free to help or not, to agree or not…. On this thread at the end, a polemical aspect prevails.

    Therefore I kindly ask the Administrators if they can close it.

    Who really wants give insights to help can write privately. Thanks to everyone, including those who have civilly criticized (Dionniereadit included) this initiative cause, however, has provided food for thought

    You just could be right. Especially if the OP doesn't deny it. I had one searching for me here in LOS for 6 years.

    To answer to Fullstop: People chasing people for money or interests make me sick….as I stated in my previous post there is any money involved in this story. It is only a story of a friendship, not mine with the missing party, but of my friends looking for him (that are his best friends). I’m not a detective, I’m not a debt collector. Up to you to believe me or not.

    Why do people chasing people for money make you sick ?

    Run from your debts and you deserve to be chased.

    You are right....I mean people paid to punch people they dont even know...

    If they wanted to contact you they would.

    So, the search is being made on the unlikely event that:

    1. They are in a coma and can't lift a finger to call or are on one of those ventilation machines and may need emotional support or help with hospital bills

    2. Something unsavory has happened and you want to get even with the culprits

    3. They have been stranded on a remote desert island and may be in need of rescue (like 'Gilligan's Island')

    4. They are being held hostage by pirates and you want to help with the ransom

    5. They went rock climbing alone and their arm got caught in a craggy peak, and they have a week or so before they have to cut off their arm.

    I appreciate your sarcasm ..but may be you forgot some points :

    6) he committed suicide and his body still waits for a name..

    7) he has been killed and his body put under the basement of his home. Somebody has bought a brand new car with his money and unpunished roams the streets of KK..

    8) he lost his memory and put in some center more similar to a prison then to an hospital…

    For all these reasons it would be nice to have an answer...

    I presume his Thai number is a mobile number? If so it could be your best way of finding the lost friend, with the help of the service provider. The question is why is he not answering calls? Have you opened a missing persons report at the police and embassy? If not why not?

    HuaHin62 we have already considered to ask to the Thai provider of the phone… I think somebody of the Italian Forun is already working on that.

    The number is switched off now but the strange thing is that last summer the phone ringed once. Once only. After that switched off again and forever..

    The Embassy has been asked by mail directly by one of his best friends. They answered they don’t know anything about him. But the impression is that if the request came from a relative they would have checked better. May be it is necessary one of the friends go there personally.

    To involve the Police I guess they need more information then those that we have just now, but after that the friends going to the Immigration Dpt of KK come back with an address and more details I think it will be possible to have their help

    Who I’m to the missing person, I had already written in my first post and of the post that has been closed on the Isaan Forum ...I’m nothing to him, as me and him simply had shared the fact of writing on the same Italian Forum for over 5 years . Actually, I personally would never have thought to look for him because I don’t know him well enough.

    On the Italian Forum there is a 30 pages thread about this subject. I cannot post the link of that thread because there are all data and photographs of the missing person, but if someone wanted to check simply must write to me in private

    On the Italian Forum too there was a long debate about whether or not to look for him after 8 months of silence and at the end prevailed the reasons of his best friends, those who met him often and were still in touch with him, and they are absolutely sure that this person would never voluntarily ​​disappear without a trace .

    Consequently to that decision, many have begun to get busy : who is in Thailand is organizing visits to KK, appeals to the Thai TV, who is in Italy like me, is making search on the internet, sending mail to Embassy and Authorities (eg Tourist Police) and writing on the Forums

    Close friends of the missing person have authorized to search and I think, for how deep their friendship was, they are entitled to do this , especially because this person has no family

    About the principle of the right of a person to disappear, we all agree, but it would be a shame that situations of need, discomfort or crime do not emerge simply because the principle of privacy must be taken to the extreme , even when everything makes you think that something sudden and severe occurred ( and this can only be said by those who know him well)

    But I’m not so personally involved not to sleep at night and if my request for advices must unleash the suspicious minds of some, ok forget it ... it doesn't matter ..

    On the other hand I thank all the people (including those who wrote to me privately) who have recognized intuitively my good faith , demonstrating interest and sympathy for a human story that I hope not to have to remember a day by posting the link to some news story like the one that user mrtoad reminded a post before...

    Next February I will be in Yangon with my Thai wife. We have planned quite a intense trip through the main attractions of the Country.. we have only 8 days and we would like to travel during the nights by bus, traveling from Yangon to Mandalay, then to Bagan and Inle Lake, finally back to Yangon...

    Since during the day we have no time to waste we would like to book all the transports and the accomodations on the first day at the arrival in Yangon..

    we don't need to buy guided trips packages as we are used to plan them by ourself

    do you know some travel agencies in Yangon that could provide all the tickets and the accomodations for the whole trip according our selfmade program?

    we have also considered to do it in BKK before leaving..as i remember i read somewhere there is an agency next to the Myanmar Embassy managed by burrmese people that can book hotels and transport at an honest price...

    But I have not enough information to find it.. :-(

    Who are they missing from? No family. Most people don't keep in touch with friends after moving aroad.

    Ok, some people may prefer for many different reasons to cut with their past.. That’s understandable… But, since this person has no a family caring or looking for him, we think it is not wrong to know at least if to cut with past was his voluntary choice ..

    If it is voluntary, then “ciao ciao” and good luck , otherwise we think it is important to have an answer...he may be in a urgency of help, be in some hospital, or victim of a crime…for which it would be even more important to make clear what happened and responsabilities

    Good luck with the search.

    My sister went missing for 1 year and during that time my parents assumed she was dead or abducted.

    When she finally re-surfaced my parents didn't know how to react.

    So yeah, some people don't want to be found, but for those left behind you assume the worst

    Of course we took in consideration the fact he could have deliberately decided to "disappear" , and, at the end of the day everything is possible, though not credible..

    But his best friends at least deserve an answer... may be just a.." please let me alone forever"
