And finally maybe try reading through some

I'm also going to go out on a limb and assume she is going to be following a Lonely Planet guide book. In which case she will have info on trusted hostels, bars, tour groups and more. I would guess everything she does can be found in this book and all of it is double checked by backpackers. The LP forum has up to date info on places as well as security risks. These books are so thorough they can actually take some of the adventure out of traveling but they help ensure you are talking to and dealing with trust worthy people and businesses.

Thousands backpack through here every year. Not all are solo females but some are. Yes there are risks but there are risks leaving your house anywhere. As long as she has a head on her shoulders then she won't have any problems.
I backpacked SE Asia and never had a problem. I backpacked Central America including the murder capital of the world, Hondorus, and never had a problem. And enjoyed ever second of it even though everyone backhome believed I would be kidnapped and beheaded. SE Asia has an extensive network of backpacking trails where it's in the interest of locals to make sure foreigners have a safe and good time. You talk to travelers and get an idea of good places and bad places.
Yes she needs to be self aware, yes there are risks, but if this is something she truly wants to do than she should do it.

We got the chip at the Nakhon Ratchisima Veterinary Hospital. 500 baht. I read the going rate for a chip in Bangkok is 600-800 so 500 in Isaan sounds right. The scanned it in front of me to show it was working. They gave me an ID card and are mailing me all the needed paperwork.

I just need one because I'm bringing my dog out of Thailand to the US. Apparently he can't leave Thailand without a microchip.
when the wife gets back I will get her to ring our vet,i know he would understand as he spent a lot of time in the us.
we have a place in korat for you egg7,the wife is trying to locate where it is the telephone no is 044-245219 the name sounds like ittiwait.
Thank you Meatboy!
I think that place is on 557 Yommarat road and is called Itivet. I have been there before. I called the other day and they said they didn't have microchips but I was speaking English so it could have been lost in Translation.
My Thai speaking friend found a place by the Night Market that said they could do it for 500 baht. I'll post the name and number once I get it for future reference. If that place doesn't work I'll just show up at Itivet and try it that way.
Thank you to you and your wife for taking the time to help me out!

Does anyone know a vet that can do microchips in the Korat area? I've contacted 5 so far and none do. Even the Chaiyaphum area would work.
Any guesses or numbers would be appreciated.
Thanks

Think I found an answer to my own question. A vet told me there was a shop that sells them across from the Mall. Not sure of the name though. I'll post it when I find out for future reference.

After becoming attached to a very young puppy abandoned at our house in a rice paddy, I've decided to send him home (knowing it won't be cheap). I need a crate that he can fly in and was wondering if anyone knows a place in or around Korat that sells them. I would really prefer not to take the 5 hour bus ride to Bangkok to get one if possible.
One other thing. Because he is so young I am flying him to Koh Samui while I am in Nepal so he can be taken care of, get his vaccines, and become old enough to fly. I called Thai Airways and they said all he needs is a medical certificate to fly within the country. But they were unable to say if it is a medical certificate I can get at a vet or if it has to be the one I get at the Vet in the Airport.
Any info would be appreciated
Thanks in advance

I flipped through the forum but haven't found much recent info so sorry if this topic is like beating a dead horse.
My single entry Non-B expires in Feb and I plan on leaving the country about 20 days later (US citizen). I have a Work Permit. I'm feeling cheap and would like not to have to spend the 2,000 baht on a 90 day visa if at all possible. Can I get a double entry tourist visa (if I only get a 15 day overland tourist visa)? Do I have to leave the country or can I do this where I would get my Non-B (Khorat (Nakhom Ratchisima)). Can this be done? Is this legal? Or should I not be cheap and do this the proper way.
Any advice is welcome. Again, sorry if this is one of those topics every 2 time poster to this forum creates.

Hi all
Just wondering if anyone has seen Borax in the Khorat area? I'm currently in Dankhunthod but will will travel to Khorat to get the stuff if need be. I've seen several topics about Borax in Chang Mai and Bangkok but not in central. I'm looking to try the Borax, hydrogen peroxide 1%, and water solution to treat a dog with the early onset of Mange.
Any help, advice, or opinions on finding borax or treating mange would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks ahead of time.

And finally maybe try reading through some other forums, including the libel planet horn tree forum for info for backpackers by backpackers. Seems like some people on here are scared of their own shadow or have the " it's okay if I do it but if others do then they are irresponsible" mentality.
