  1. Hi, thanks for your replies. To clarify, I would NOT be working for a Thai company. Any supposed work in Thai would be in the form of meetings as they have an office here.

I have not accepted the position with the Singapore company at this stage and only just looking at my options... so may just return as per usual to my occupation overseas (US ) soon. I see the multiple entry non-b visa would be the best option IF i took the job, so will look into it . Just wouldn't be looking forward to the paperwork etc, not my favorite activity!

    Thanks once again

  2. I have been working overseas (US foreign company) and coming to Thai for sometime for breaks between contracts, it hasn't been a problem as I always come back as a tourist and return overseas for my work. Legit.

I will outline my new situation and see if anyone out there can give me the right advice on my visa commitments

I would be working for a company based in Singapore, however would be coming and going regularly between Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand up to 3 times a month, multiple entries. The job contracts with the foreign company will be short up to 2 weeks per month, the other time i would like to stay in Thailand (Not working) as my base.

Note that I would be doing some work in Thailand as well but for the Singapore company as a contractor and paid by foreign company outside of Thai.

That would be a lot of 30 day entries yes? I already have a 60 day visa with 3 entries, but even that would be used up in no time.

What sort of visa could I look at? would it be a 1-Year Thailand Non-Immigrant Visa?

    Any advice is greatly appreciated.

  3. Mmmm...guess it may be good for the economy but i find the abruptness and attitude of the Chinese doesn't go with the smile vibe in Thailand, the most polite and nicest people in the universe. Mind you it's in the Chinese nature to be considered a little rude as they are from a country of 1.3 billion people, there's no time for politeness ,you just gotta be first in line.

I just don't want to see Thai people jaded by just putting out for cold tourism for the Chinese and getting nothing back.....I'm just saying thumbsup.gif

  4. Thanks all for your tips, Idnguy gave me a boost when he said, basically, get a grip. I had seen the earlier post "Tourist visa holders denied entry" at the southern border and it's been bugging me all day. I wonder if they had proof like i have, return tickets, work contracts etc....

I apologize for my confusing description, yes it would be tourist visa 60 days(90 days valid) with 3 entries, which will take me 6 months to complete anyway as I will be away working. I travel to a lot of countries so i just refer to multi-entry as a general term for that kind of visa.

I guess I will be asking in the near future if a bonafide and regular long term tourist who spends a lot of money here (not working) is something they want.

Either way i respect Thai Culture and would probably opt to do voluntary work on my breaks here as a genuine choice if not.

  5. Ok: Let's say:

Denied entry into Thailand via Don Mueang airport on a 2nd 60 day multi-entry even though holding proof of work outside the country, and flight tickets out in the next 3 weeks (reading the latest post it seems realistic)

1.What happens to your bags out on the carousel? do you kiss goodbye to you luggage? do they go with you to collect them or ,send your bags back into the arrivals area ?

2.I guess you just book a flight from the arrivals area and go to a new international flight from there? maybe stay a long time stranded behind immigration.

Anyone know how it works in the "Worst-Case Scenario"? Sorry, I'm not trying to be negative, just want to know in case it ever happens, fair or not.

  6. Hi all, firstly I sincerely appreciate the time that some of the long time forum members, senior etc, spend on answering peoples inquiries, it's really cool to get advice and do with it what you will!

    Simple question from me today.

Leaving and coming back to Thai for 3 weeks then returning to work contract OS

Currently have been in Thai for same period, 3 weeks.

I am a NON - working tourist for break purposes only, bonafied and with all return tickets and documents provided.

I do have around 5 exempt stamps and 1 multi-entry visa from last year in PP.

Is leaving the country by air for 1 week considered a "Back to Back" ?

    Cheers

  7. Hi....hope my questions get noticed after 12 pages of comments. Oh well, anyway. if any one can advise on my situation, would be much appreciated to help relieve stress!

I stay in Thailand in between my work contracts overseas on ships (all documented and signed as proof for immigration).

I usually work 2 - 3 months overseas and return to Thailand for a 1 month break on usual Tourist visa (NOT WORKING) or a 3 month break on Multi-entry tourist visa.

I pay for a room here even when I'm overseas working and it's here when I get back with a lot of my belongings in it. I enjoy Thai culture so much and staying here in my break and would like to look at longer term down the track E.g, B visa, Ed visa etc. But for now I have work contracts the same as above booked until March next year.

Yes, even though I have proof showing I'm not working in Thai and just having my breaks here(max 3 months), I am really concerned that I might not get back in with all the crackdowns. Maybe my current system of staying here will be denied.....sad

  8. I fell in love with Thailand, it's people and culture around 12 months ago now, stayed in BKK for 5 months. It's heart breaking to see what's going on and my thoughts go out to Thais who just want to get on with their lives.

For now I'm out, have been in other places than BKK this time but have a gut feeling and enough info to think things may spread out to the rest of the country.

So I'm out 2 weeks early, before I can't get out at all and miss my job contracts OS. Leaving a partner behind also is tough, but it's harder to get an Aussie visa for them than it is going through a coup!

    Praying for Thailand. Cheers.

  9. May I quote " it's better to be safe than sorry". Just need to make sure I can see an immigration office in Chiang Mai, i think I'll do the office and 7 day extension if possible.

Personally, i never like to show any disrespect to the laws culture of a foreign country, and having an overstay stamp in my passport is something that would contradict that respect. Happy new year all and thanks so much for your advice !

  10. Thanks for the advice, yep i did a 90 day visa last time, this time is shorter, my company only pays for tickets only (cruise ship) up to me to get a visa, kinda hard when you work on a ship and they have your passport till you leave.

Anyway i guess the main thing is I am trying to avoid going to the immigration office out past Mo Chit Like i did last time for the 30 day extend, in case of the looming unrest in BKK.

Any idea if i can do it from Chiang Mai??

    Cheers P

  11. Hi I have really slow internet so couldn't go searching thru the posts for info. I'm flying into BKK going to be leaving from there a month later (if there's no trouble around Feb 5) .Thing is, my company is flying me out 5 days after the 28 days expiry, can't change it because it's work contract and is a nightmare to change the date.

So it's gonna be a 5 day overstay.

is it procedure to just pay an overstay?, or is it a risk of getting into trouble?

Also any advice if i can extend or see an immigration office in Chiang Mai? 3rd option, do a visa run i suppose from Chiang Mai....?

Any advice greatly appreciated! I'm new here (not to Thailand, just to Thaivisa). Thanks P
