I see. So do you mean for the first 90days renewal, you only need to show the 800k in the bank (which came from overseas), and that it doesn't have to have been in there for 2 months already. Because obviously wouldn't have been in Thailand long enough to open the account and season it with full 2 months.

But for the 1 year extension, then yes can show the 800k has been in the bank for 2months already.

From what I've read, depending on the bank and branch you visit, its easier at some than others to open an account (even if you don't have any type of visa). All you needs is residence certificate (which you'll have to get from immigration first). I've read that Bangkok Bank is the easiest to open with, or Kasikorn.

The problem is how will you transfer the fund if you don't have a bank account? You probably should show your fund at the airport and get a receipt that you had this fund with you when you enter the country. You can tell them it is for your visa or condo etc.

  2. There are few options

1- You must have 800 000 in the bank for at least 2 months which in your case it may be difficult if you don't have longer visa. But you may open an account and put the fund in it and wait. You may have to exit the country one time and re enter again and get another 30 days visa. At this time you had the money in the bank for more than 2 months.

2- If you are on pension and your pay is more than 65000 Bhat a month. You can get a letter from your Embassy and can immediately apply for Non O if hopefully they will still do it. That is how I am going to try.

3- I heard there are agents that charge you more money and they will manage everything.

    Good luck

  3. It depend which country passport you have. My friend had Denmark passport. He could not speak English. I went with him to immigration in Jomtien. Filled up a form to change his tourist visa to Non immigrant O visa and paid I think 1800 Bhat, then got a letter from embassy that his retirement pension is more than 65000 Bhat a month. Next day went to immigration again filled up retirement application form and paid 1800 Bhat and got it after a day. Next applied for single re entry visa and paid 1000 Bhat. So total payment was 4800 Bhat.

If you don't have 800000 Bhat in the bank or your pension is less than 65000 Bhat a month or you are from certain countries you have to pay much more probably between 13000 to 25000 Bhat.

  4. The question I have is are you planning to move there because everything is better than Thailand or just because it is cheaper. Why should anyone move to another country just because they are the same as what Thailand was 20 years ago? I will never move to Cambodia because of cheaper bear or food. I had been there twice and in fact I didn't like it the second time. All the things you mentioned are cheaper than Thailand I found them even more expensive as lots of Korean, Chinese coming there. And to me honest I didn't see anything so wonderful that worth leaving Thailand for it. On the other hand if I leave Thailand for any other country I will rather choose Vietnam or Philippines and may be Indonesia or Malaysia.

  5. We should remember that all businesses have been effected in all the countries and not only in Thailand. Many millions have lost their jobs all over the world. Even if tomorrow Thailand open the border to the tourist even then not many people even have the means to travel. As it is even before the pandemic there wasn't much of European tourist due to increase in prices and strong Bhat. I feel we can't see many tourist coming to Thailand for the next couple of years , of course there may be good numbers of Chinees and Indian tourists.

  6. Just check aqi in few Indian cities like Delhi, Noida, Faridabad. They are usually around 500 it goes upto even 800 or more. I think Pattaya is around 60. Why not move there

Probably not before an international vaccine passport or registration has been agreed; and furthermore, as other have mentioned, the vaccines shows to be effective.

If they don't make it compulsory like vaccine passport to be able to travel etc i am not going to take it

  8. Go for non immigrant O visa in your country it will be valid for 3 months. If you are retired and your pension is greater than 65000 bhat a month get this letter from your embassy in Thailand then go to immigration, apply for retirement visa, it cost you 1900 Bhat. You have to apply for reentry visa if you want to leave Thailand and come back on your retirement visa, it cost you 1000 bhat for a single reentry and 3900 bhat for multiple.

If you don't have pension one you enter the country you have to open a bank account and transfer 800000 bhat to your account, after 2 months get a letter from bank and go to immigration and get your retirement visa. So as you see retirement visa is much cheaper than elite visa

  9. When I came to Thailand many years back I got Non immigrant O visa that was valid for 3 months from Thai visa section. In Thailand I got a letter from my embassy that my income is greater than 65000 Bhat a month. Filled up the retirement visa application at jomtien, gave all documents needed including letter from the embassy and within one hour I had the retirement visa which was valid for additional 12 months. You may also be able to get the retirement visa from the embassy in your country by showing them the pension letter.
