  1. Amazing when phrases like "on my land" or any business set up by farang to circumvent any Thai law, truly amazing. do they think for one moment in time that whatever they have set up in any way gives them a "right" here in Thailand, they can and will be swatted like a fly when the time comes

Knew one guy years ago,had it all thought out ,set such a complex web up that he was regarded as untouchable. One day a kindly reminder to go along ,with passport ,to immigration. Once there big red stamp over his visa, and ejected within 24 hours ,leaving house, possessions, the lot(including wife) behind.

Would you care to enlighten us all as to why? Was it property related?

The guy in question had been there for ever and a day,had fingers in many pies, but for sure had beautiful house, guess he got more than a few neigbours jealous of a foreigner Had a blog site, quite a wise guy too, foretold all the happenings of 2008 couple of years before it came to being

So he got banned from Thailand because he had a blog site, a beautiful house, jealous neighbors or just because you wanted to dream up a sensational story ?

Someone who gets deported don't get an "invitation" to the immigration office, he get hauled and deported. That was the give away.

  2. So the Windows trouble shooter told me I had to manually remove Explorer 9 to be able to install IE 11. I removed IE 9 successfully, but still wasn't able to install IE 11, so I gave up on it and installed FF 31 instead.

A few days I got a notification that I had 1 important update waiting. It was an update to install IE 9 facepalm.gif

It is fear of the folk who get caught on a red and and think "fugg it, I ain't stopping" and jump the light.........sad.png

That may be true when lights change to green, but what gets me is how slowly they take off when it's safe to. It's almost as if they take their foot off the brake, but forget to put any pressure on the accelerator sad.pngw00t.gifbah.gif

They think it saves them gasoline by moving that way.

  4. Just to add, on the same road a few miles down the road, I had a traffic cop stop me, and try to fine me for driving in the 2nd lane. I had to point out to him, that I was actually driving in the 2nd lane so that I could avoid hitting him while he was stood in the middle of the road talking to a driver.

I had something similar happen to me.

I asked him if he expected me to jump over slow moving trucks, he starred at me for a few seconds then without saying a word waived with his hand that I should move on.

  5. However the price of diesel is to rise by 14 satang per litre.

I know it isn't very much until you consider that 80% or more of goods in Thailand are moved by road mostly in diesel vehicles so if the transporters raise their prices due to the extra cost it will have a knock on effect.

I think you will find that the majority of those diesel trucks drive on CNG/NGV.

  6. Here we discuss the disaster called 'rice price pledging scheme'. That was ill-conceived as a self-financing scheme with some golf caddies even calling it profitable. That has nothing to do with subsidies.

To "look at it from the point of view of whether all subsidies are bad or good" suggests you try to ignore the topic and deflect and distract.

    What disaster?

The system has been closed, and exports are back to 9mn tonnes.

I'm sure you do understand the difference between, expect to export 9 million tonnes, and export them in real life. Or do you have any figures that show they exported 8 million tonnes since the 22nd of May ?

  7. Consult a lawyer specializing in family law to get your paternal rights. You may find some info in the family and children forum as other TV members have been through this.

I know about this procedure, but it means that if I go that way I probably will be able to get him out of there in a year or two if I'm lucky, while I will not see him anymore during the weekends or after school until that date.

  8. As others have said, this is not any legitimate Thai herbal treatment.

It is also quite likely the reason your son is so often sick, especially if the illnesses in question are GI in nature.

it is NOT normal for a child of any age to be sick twice a month and the concoction you describe is almost certainly harmful.

For your child's sake I urge you to take steps to change the care arrangements. You are not going to be able to alter MIL's behavior so need to change his living arrangements. His health depends on it.

BTW the fact that he messaged you re the HA sounds to me like a cry for help. There may be more amiss with his care than the quackery. Get that child out of there, whatever it takes, is my advice.

I don't know how stubborn the involved person are. But if he just refuse to take the "medicine"?

Some 11 year old can be very stubborn and some grandmas weak....but could be also the other way around.

He has told me that in the future he will refuse to take the "medicine" but I don't think he's strong enough to go against his grandmothers demands.

Airplane seats were designed to recline. The ticket price includes the right to recline the seat. Those who become physically uncomfortable when the seat in front of them reclines should pay for a seat in premium economy or business class.

There is no given "right" to recline, in fact, when flying over, some states of the US you MUST, by law, have your seat upright at all times.

"Passengers are currently allowed to recline when flying over Pennsylvania, Illinois and Indiana but are required to return their seats to an upright position over Nebraska, Kansas and Missouri."

    giggle.gif

Don't be ridiculous. That's the most absurd thing I've read on this forum since----well, fairly recently.

So if I write an article in the FT that by law over Thailand seats have to be reclined in a 150 degree position, then you gonna believe that also ?

  10. Maybe think up a new story line, they all are basically the same, nasty mother

with equally nasty daughter, mother wants her to marry hansom rich man,but

hes in love with a sweet young girl, enter overtly gay man stage left, and a

couple of maids, thats it folks!, change setting but keep story line.mind

dumbing tv, oh and don't forget the bells and whistles for effect.

bye the way i don't watch them, but watch the wife watching them.

    regards Worgeordie

You forgot the hero going temporarily blind after being hit over the head or grazed by a bullet which enables a trip to Europe to see a specialist. Unless it's a costume drama of course when the trip will be to a palace in Ayutthaya.

Pretty girl always marries the hero and the nasty girl is either gang raped by a group of Burmese labourers or her family goes bankrupt.

You think they still need Burmese laborer stand ins ?

  11. Governments aren't run like businesses. I think both you and I come from a part of the world where subsidies are very much part of agribusiness for many reasons.

One of which is the fact that is if a farmer is going to feed me, its quite useful for him to feed himself.

Now please, could you pay attention for just a moment without trying to run around the fact that the RPPS was not a subsidy. Any time you mention subsidy you seem to try to negate the negative effect of the 500 or 700++ billion Baht lost in this idiotic brainchild of a criminal fugitive who running the country from abroad.

It is a known fact that TaH has moved abroad several years ago, so looking at his posts continuously apologizing the rice scam, would you think that .......................

  12. Quote: "Of course, the prices here in Thailand are way high, but here too the Bolt has the Sportster 883 beat by 120,000 Baht."

Come on, let's talk again after 2 years riding both bikes. Depreciation will likely have eaten up the 120,000 Baht difference. Moreover, H-D's reliability has improved dramatically more than a decade ago.

Ride both bikes for a decade and then you'd be lucky if you get 165,000 B for the Bolt. And parts prices are pretty reasonable when you order in the U.S.

    Ride on!

Wasn't there a rumor some time ago that HD was gonna build a factory in Thailand for their smaller cc bikes ?

If this is true I bet prices from HD may get hit.

  13. Don't know where to post this for the best, so I will do here, but feel free to move it to the appropriate forum.

My son spent the first 4 years of his life with the grandmother in Ubon and was ill at least twice a month. Maybe normal for children, I don't know.

From the age of 4 till 81/2 he stayed with me in Pattaya, and was sick maybe twice during the whole period.

Since then, he is now 11, he stays with the mother during the week and with me during the weekends. Actually the grandmother takes care once again since the mother isn't able to take care of herself, other than financially in which she's superior, if you understand what I mean.

So during the past few months he has been ill a few times, as has been his sister. I know the grandmother likes to play medicine man. A doctor is only consulted when I get angry and take him there.

The other day he messaged me that he had a headache, so I told him to take a paracetamol and a hot cup of milk and go sleep early.

The next day I picked him up from school, and he still wasn't well, so I asked him if they had given him paracetamol.

He said they hadn't any but gave him two other medicines, which made my hair rise on my back already.

At the end it became clear that he had an aspirin and somthing else which he doesn't know how it calls, so I asked him to show it to me.

He went to the back of the house and after some time he came back and told me to follow him since it was too heavy to carry w00t.gif

He led me to place under the house where several 5 gallon buckets with cover were stored. When I opened them a sour stench came out of it, and I noticed that they were filled with water with a lot of vegetation inside, that was yeasting and rotting I assume.

Each bucket had a different substance inside, some green, some orange and some purple, but they all had that same sour stench coming out of it.

It was clear I had entered the medicine men's laboratory.

He told me that for the past 2 years they had to drink a small amount of it every morning.

You will understand that I became furious at that point, but I can not do anything of course.

So anyone has an idea what the brew may be, and if I should take drastic action, or that it is a harmless substance.

I assume that people who live in Issaan, particularly in Ubon, may have experience with this and can advise me .
