Hi,
If you apply via the new method then you don’t have to submit your passports.
The new method requires you to upload copies to a website.
This is what my wife has just done.
Fill the application form online. Upload all your docs and then book an appointment to submit your biometrics.

Hi,
I have figured out the special character issue.
It won’t let you submit and proceed to the next section if you put commas in??
Still don’t understand the reason for the question though.
Thanks
Anton.

Hi,
Currently filling in the application form online for my wife’s leave to remain
She’s been here 5 yrs now.
There’s a page with questions about the applicants family and friends back in Thailand.
I have filled them in with relevant names and details but when you press continue it says
‘Answers must be in English and cannot use special characters’
What the hell is this???
For starters what has this got to do with the visa?? And secondly I am writing it in English so what the problem?
Has any else experienced this problem??
Thanks
Anton.

Hi,
Just a heads up to everyone that needs to do the life in the UK test.
They availability is shocking! Especially for Leeds. Nothing available to book at Leeds for months.
I have got to take the missus over to Preston!!
Visa renewal isn’t until Jan but if there’s anyone out there that needs to pass their test sooner rather than later then I suggest you get it booked ASAP.
Thanks
Anton.

Thanks for all the advice.
Some good advice on offer and also some bitter people offering nothing but negativity. [emoji849]
And for all you doubters. It really is a mate of mine. He’s 26 and she’s around mid 30’s blonde, tattooed etc etc...
I offered him my 2 cents and also what’s on this forum.
Good luck to ‘em.
Cheers

He doesn’t own a house in England or Thailand. He doesn’t own a car. He has no assets at all really.
Would he have to get a lawyer in Thailand?

Hello,
Looking for some advice for a friend.
No really it is a friend. I’m happily married and we have a cracking 6 month together.
My mate married his Thai lady in The Pattaya amphoe/ registrar office.
This happened last February and he has been in uk and she’s been in Thailand ever since. She was due to apply for the settlement visa soon but they have had a big fall out.
She now wants a divorce and is demanding 500k baht.
What’s his next step? Can she claim anything and what’s the easiest way for him to divorce?
Thanks in advance.

Hello All,
My missus is over in the U.K. on the 5yr spouse visa. We applied and received FLR last year. (All good)
Will have to apply for the ILR in a couple of years but can she take the Life in the U.K. Test now?
Is there any reason to wait until closer to the application?
Thanks
Anton.

Hi,
I'm visiting some of the wife's family in Klaeng soon.
What is there to do? If anything?
Any good hotels or rentals around?
Recommend any restaurants Thai or ferang?
Thanks
Anton.

Hey Everyone,
Going to Krabi soon and would like to get a rough idea of costs from Krabi Airport to ao nang beach area.
If you lot can tell me the going rate then it saves this pale traveler from getting slammed.
Thanks
Also what's the weather gonna be like beginning of October?
Thanks again.

Hi All,
Bit of a silly question but I would like to make sure my wife's application goes perfect.
When applying by post for the FLR, how do you send all the docs, passports, payslips and application form?
Should I just put it all in a folder and send recorded delivery?
We've got everything in a big plastic folder/organiser with certain files organised into different categories.
How's everyone else done there's??
Really don't fancy paying £500 to do it in person. Crazy price!
Thanks.

Hi,
Me and the missus are due to apply for FLR at beginning of May.
Thanks for the updates and info.
-
Actually the premium service is gonna be £500! Plus the visa plus the brp. Total cost is going to be around £1900.
Shocking prices and it's gonna get worse when we get to ILR.
-
So then, I'm looking at £500 for the NHS surcharge, £400 if I want to use a premium centre. What's the new cost of a FLR visa gonna be?

Hi,
In our supporting docs I'm going to include my birth certificate. Do we need to include my wife's (Thai) birth certificate?
Also going to include my annual mortgage statement, do they need anything else with regards to accommodation? Apart from the numerous correspondence letters with our names.
Thanks.
-
I believe if you can't produce 6 items with both your names then you can produce something like 8 each with just your individual names on it.
I too may struggle to provide 6 items so hopefully 2 or 3 with both our names and then another 3 each with our individual names.

Hi,
Good to hear about the FLR being granted.
What does the PEO stand for?
Did you have to supply just the Thai marriage cert? Or do you need it translated?
Thanks

Hi,
Sorry to jump into this thread but got a relevant question.
Me and the missus are in the same boat and will apply for flr next April/May. I earn 24k a year and have the payslips and bank statements.
Does it matter that some months I go into my overdraft? Bills and expenses here and there mean every now and then I might go to minus £50 - £100.
Could they look at this as a problem.
Cheers.

Great news thanks.
Do you know anything about her FLR visa (if and when we get it) in her current passport. Will that transfer or still be valid? Will the ILR then go into the new passport.
Cheers.

Hi everyone.
Hoping to get some advice and ideas.
I'm sure the answers are up here already but hard to find and you lot are good at solving problems.
My wife (Thai) is over here (UK) on the Spouse/settlement visa. We are due to apply for FLR next April/May. Her passport expires 2018.
We plan to go to Thailand for a 2week hol at Xmas before we apply for FLR.
what to do about her passport? Get a new one at Xmas? Yes I understand her passport and FLR visa will be fine at the moment but what we don't plan on going back to Thailand for a while after this time. So what about the ILR application?
Can we renew her passport in UK?
Thanks.
Anton.

Why pay in dollars?
Don't you apply in England?
Or is this a NHS surcharge at the start of a visa and not the second FLR stage.

Hello,
Has anybody recently applied for Indefinite Leave to Remain via the online application?
How long before you received a decision?
We applied at Christmas and then submitted the biometrics in person 2nd week in Jan.
I have received an email confirming our application and they state it should take no more than 6 months.
Do they usually come to a decision before 6 months? Has anyone else had a decision made in less time? Perhaps 3 months.
Thanks
Anton
