  1. Hello

Does anybody know of a very good and skilled prosthodontist who can insert a quality crown (not metal) on a front incisor tooth?

I'm trying to avoid the pros and cons of some of the dental clinics in Bangkok but I need a prosthodontist who will charge for a crown at an honest rate and will know what work that needs doing on my tooth without getting ripped off or overcharged.

Just need a prosthodontist that will honestly know what's best for you and sell a crown at an honest price?

Also does anybody know of alternatives to crowns? A crown may not be needed but are there other options?

Please be happy to post from your own experiences and give names of the clinics and the prosthodontists that worked on your teeth, you can tell me from good experiences or from bad I don't want to walk into another con clinic. :(

    Thank you

  2. I think many members here would benefit from any recent personal experiences with urologists in Bangkok.

So if anyone has had any recent visits to a urologist I personally would like to know their experiences.

After all we are here to help other board members are we not? :)

Thanks for the reply! I completely agree with you, I think a majority of people may feel too embarrassed to express their experiences with this kind health issue or some May feel it's too personal to comment on but I think such issues should be expressed in open, like you said were here to help other members with all types of questions that arise! :)

  3. I can't recommend an ENT doctor per say, but I can recommend a hospital where I visited the ENT specialist.

A few years ago, due to prolonged exposure to loud music coupled with a bad infection, I 'felt' my hearing was getting impaired.

Went to St. Louis Hospital; fast and efficient with excellent service, didn't have to wait long at all,

Got to see a doctor within 15 minutes, who spoke English reasonably well too.

I had to get 2 tests done: an audiogram and a ear pressure test.

Within less than 90 minutes, I was in and out of the hospital, with some minimal medication as prescribed.

And this was on a Sunday.

Thank you for the reply that's some really good info!

  6. It's possible that this view is true in general, but my own, limited experience contradicts it. I used both Asavanant and a dentist on Park Avenue, Manhattan for about 7 years while I visited Thailand annually before settling here a couple of years ago. Both the dentists had good qualifications and each knew about the other. It was very informative to have them review each other's work every year. The Park Avenue dentist examined the ceramic fillings done by the Asavanant dentist and found that they were done correctly, in particular, that radiographic cement was used as required. The Asavanant dentist however once found a small problem with the crown done by the NY dentist. I can't know if this problem had only just appeared and the NY dentist would have found it and corrected it on her own, or if she was aware of it and took no action. When I reported the problem in NY, the dentist immediately offered to replace the crown at no charge, which she subsequently did.

So in my very limited experience the dentist at Asavanant outperformed a New York Park Avenue dentist. As you would expect at the time the Park Avenue dentist charged about $1300 for a crown while Asavanant was charging around $250 for a CEREC filling. These two services are priced comparably in New York.

My view is that the quality of medical care in the US is vastly overrated, particularly once you exclude the top quality which is not available to the middle class. The average quality in Thailand may be lower, but service at least as good is available if you can find it.

I feel like people sugar coat this subject here. I could go into my theories why, but I wont. In short, if a good solid dentist in the US is say a 10 for example, I would call the average dentist here about a 6 or 7. If you have to get your teeth cleaned it may move up to 9 or 10, but for anything serious, forget it, the quality is going to be way lower.

People who think the docs here are good must not be living here. Have you been to the schools? Seen the way they train people? Seen the way they do things in general? This is not top notch care people. Places like Bumrungrad can put a nice cherry on the top and make things look good, but it is really just very expensive lipstick put onto a pretty darned ugly pig.

Having said all that, if you must go here I recommend asavanant.

Do you have a specific name of the dentist that did your dental treatment?

  7. Hi

    Thank you for your replies!

There's another question I need to ask?

Do you know of any dentists at any of the clinics that have a good reputation for really good and humble service and have very high professional qualifications?

Need to find a dentist that has a good history of dental experience, quality of care to patients and has international qualifications as well as local qualifications from the universities in Bangkok?

If anyone knows of any dentists that meet the description please give a name and clinic.

    Thanks

  8. Hello!

What's the difference between the Prosthodontics Department and the Periodontics Department at BIDC?

Seems that both departments have the same role in diagnosis, treatment planning, rehabilitation and maintenance of teeth and providing maxillofacial tissues using biocompatible substitutes for teeth that are deficient?

Does anybody know if there is a real difference between the two?

    Thanks
