Just make sure that the remitting bank uses EXACTLY
the right account number and the right account name
including MR or MISTER (no offence to the ladies)
so the Thai bank's computer is not confused.

How about the farang who serves on the committee of his or her condo building.
No reward. Damn hard work.

Gourmets do not search for hygienic kitchens.
Whoever heard of Michelin checking the chef's
finger nails.

Richard Smith should decide where to sit in a restaurant; not "wait to be seated".
We are not in Paris or New York.

roguewo is talking rubbish. I had a eye watering amount stolen from my
card in super safe Aus, whereupon the (Euro) bank blocked my card
for "high risk LOS". Any country is at risk. Those which appear safest
offer greater opportunities for thieves because folk are less vigilent.
Of course don't use an ATM on the street.

Shouldn't the government know there are 77 provinces, including BKK, not 72 ?

The only time it is acceptable to go topless (man and woman: latter not in Thailand) is on or very near a beach.
If I am unfortunate enough to find myself in a lift with a person not appropriately dressed I get out as soon as
possible and take the next one.
OP good on you for bringing this up. If you have the courage tell them politely, but do not expect a nice answer.

There are Subaru Dealers here - Motor Image comes to mind. I see a few on the road. Looks very good in black. The orange is hideous.
Where are you located?
Thanks bkkjames. Located Sattahip. I believe geographical groups of dealers are franchisees of Motor Image. Pattaya "showroom" has a torn banner but no Subaru XV and I believe is part of Laem Chabang, which is hardly a hive of activity. Thus nearest functioning workshop is at Samut Prakarn or BKK. I was in Malaysia recently where they are assembled and saw two or three in a week. The declared target last year was to make 5,000 for Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand but I cannot find out how many have been sold in LOS. Some years ago BKK Post had a weekly motoring section which monthly gave statistics of all makes sold but it seems this has been discontinued. I do not want to buy a failed import with no chance of dealer backup. Shame because it is a very nice vehicle and may be a best seller in some parts of USA. I still want one so any additional info would be gladly received.

I am a reluctant committee member of a large condominium and the owner of a unit has passed away.
We have no details of who he is except the copy of his passport. I have written to the embassy concerned asking to be put in touch with his executor. The reply states that the embassy will give no help due to the country's privacy laws.
Where do we go from here? May we enter the condo and search for clues to his heir, if any? Ask the local Police if they know anything? Put a notice in the appropriate column of a national newspaper of the country concerned? Sequester and auction the contents to defray mounting maintenance charges?

I am interested in a Subaru XV, but I cannot find any statistics on the number sold in Thailand
and the dealer/servicing network seems to be very sparse.
Does any TV reader have a Subaru XV?

Don't expect to receive what you think is due.
I had a fall and was patched up in a hospital. Told to return next day to change the dressings. Insurer would not pay anything after 24 hours. Another fall and pain in lower chest after four days. Fractured ribs. Nothing covered aster 24 hours. Abandoned BUPA International several years ago. Premium increases of up to 15% each year. "Medical inflation". Refused to pay for follow up treatment. As soon as possible insurers will exclude this or that - but not reduce premium. They insure only what you do not really need and can pay for yourself, so read the fine grey print (if you can see it) before signing on.

So please kind ladies and gentlemen, where to go during April and May?
Not too cold nor too hot.
Not too far and not too dear

I bought Air Asia tickets on line then the card lapsed but not before my
bank in Europe had sent a new one by air courier, together with a
strong recommendation to cut the replaced card up, which I dutifully
did. But I never had any problem at check-in. It's only shady
people who get asked for extra proof of identity, how they paid, who
they eat with, who they sleep with and so on.

Thanks Jitar for your info. Part number very helpful.

I am interested in buying a Mitsubishi Pajero but it lacks the cargo cover, although the slots and
anchor points are already part of the interior. Frankly, dealers do not appear interested in
helping to complete this otherwise excellent vehicle. I do not want the public to be able to see
my tackle and will be obliged to buy another make if the item cannot be supplied.
Any ideas please?

Would all those who boast how much they can withdraw from an ATM
kindly post their card numbers and pin numbers so TV poorer members
take some without going to the trouble of tearing apart the machines.
Personally I make a point of using only those ATMs which are inside
buildings such as shopping malls and not in the open.

Believe it or not Bangkok Bank has many forms printed in Thai !!!
I was asked to sign one that was not completed, which I refused.
After a little hassle the form was duly completed and with smiles
all around the job was completed. Try it.

I write from south of Pattaya. It is the same here. Every tree is chopped down except a few draped in
faded garlands. But worse maybe ~ every metre of every road is littered with rubbish, be it plastic bags
or builders' rubble. The streets are filthy. I ride a bicycle and the stench of rotting garbage is nauseating.
The only Thailand that so far remains intact is the North and parts of the Northeast. .Civic pride is
evident. But the air pollution, if the press is to be believed is "totally unacceptable". Where shall we go?

Native son: No, not all Thai banks are the same. Some time ago I walked into
Krung Thai and before I was three meters inside a girl stops me and says:
"Work Permit minimum three years". I had not uttered a word. Around the corner
Bangkok Bank was pleased to open an account with just 1,000 baht and sight
of my passport.

Thais use a lot of water? Well, what would you expect?
My gf insisted I shower twice a day in cold water when I
was already shivering during the recent record cold
winter. Yes, I am a faring but truly I do not smell and my
clothes are clean. What is this almost religious obsession
with constant washing?

I get sick by these so-called RUNNING LIGHTS on big shot cars and now being added by the little guys.
"Get out of my way. I am so connected" Yeah, just like a dog to a bitch.
-
Yes, Thaiways, except in supermarkets, everything is rounded (up of course)
to the nearest five baht.
-
Should the authorities (sic) not be thinking of introducing a twenty and/or twenty-five baht COIN,
abandoning the green note and also those tiny satang coins which slip through holes in my pocket?
For taxis always carry plenty of fifty baht notes: that is why they are so rare.

To my mind Phrae and surroundings have a lot of charm, but needs looking for. If you want internet beware Maeyom Palace Hotel. Not available on every floor. Place full of foreign coach trippers. Try Phoomthai Gardens. Clean, friendly, good kitchen if you are tired of the family ~ and internet worked well in my room.
Good Luck. My idea of a fun Songkran is to be well clear of any Buddhist country.
What is happening with prices, and Thanks to this forum
in Chiang Mai
Posted
Why does it take 4-5 hours for my TV to arrive?
Prices? Be selective. Shop around. Buy fruit that is in season.
Ngo I saw yesterday at 10 baht a kilo.
Bon Café sells 4 x 250 grm bags for 99 baht a bag
One bag makes 20 enormous cups. That's 5 baht a cup.
Tell me a European city that is cheaper than Thailand, na khrap!
