Good bye Thailand

You raise an interesting point and given the very recent 'tinkering' of tourist visas, one can only speculate about possible future changes.
One thing I have learned from living here is that there is always some Thai official ready to alter or amend a decent system, generally to the detriment of we foreigners.
Sure, there are many sanctimonious so called 'experts' on here that will either berate or rubbish your thoughts but I believe that as foreigners we should never take anything for granted. Experience shows that officials here are never happier than when diluting the enjoyment if living here in our senior years.

The vans are a problem of course as are the lunatic red bull fueled drivers.
They need to be properly trained, licenced and above all, accountable to the people they serve. -
No. Its necessary to either take the shuttle bus to suvarnabhumi then catch the VIP bus to HH or go into the city then onward by train or mini bus or taxi.
-
The police in hua hin are enforcing the legal closing time of midnight for all bars. Previously they allowed places to remain open later - provided they were paid of course.

Amazing that there are so many so called 'experts' on this site that seem to know what happened. There is even one who says he was in prison and treated with respect so this unfortunates story is therefore false.
So many sanctimonious 'sofa sitters' that voice their expert opinions - perhaps it is they that should be beaten up by Thai guards rather than a person with diminished mentality.- 1

So typical of Thailand - let's piss off tourists in general.
Honestly, a Chinese person that has saved some money to cone to Thailand should be embraced as opposed to be now told that they are unwelcome.
The lack of vision and general uneducated thoughts and comments of so called Thai authority is astounding. TIT.

Try the moonlight bat in the town centre to hear a great rock band fronted by cartoon, the lead guitarist. Just awesome.

Ever looked at the so called Thai driving test? Its a complete joke.
Absolutely no point in road safety campaigns when any half wit can get a driving licence and drive on the highway. Add an over abundance of very thick, stupid and fueled up people that have no consideration for others and you have a formula for carnage - just look at the facts.
-
How on earth can Thailand expect to be taken seriously when for a week they resort to throwing water at everyone and do nothing about the carnage on the roads.
Thailand ha and always will be a 'joke' country.

Well done - a good post and good advice.

Would it be possible to pin or double sided tape to a sheet of perspex fitted directly onto the frame.
I have done this before and it has a good effect on noise isolation.

Wow - she can put two words together all by herself - amazing.

What an appalling response from this government agency. They have completely dismissed the very obvious fact that the financial woes for the farmers have been brought about by the governments failure to meets its own financial responsibilities.
In addition,, they have instructed non qualified and inexperienced leaders to provide counselling services.
A further example of a shower of jokers spouting off whilst their collective head is firmly buried in the sand. So typical.

Sadly, phi phi has gone down hill rapidly over the last few years. Sure, it looks stunning on approach from the phuket side but beyond that, it is awash with drunken louts that seem to regard screeching and loud fiul mouthed abuse as a perfectly normal activity.
The main beaches are generally filthy and dominated by very loud beach bars all pushing out different music to satisfy the young misdirected hippy types that flock to the island for the alcohol and drug abuse.
Generally, it is significantly more expensive here for most things be it an ice cream or a bedroom. Expect to pay way over the odds for some poor quality food served by disenchanted and rude staff in 'most' eateries. There are however a few decent restaurants that take some pride in serving good quality food at reasonable prices.
Phi phi island does not offer much for families or those seeking any resemblance to a quiet or relaxing holiday. More suited to young drunkards that are on world trips and treap the island as a party location.

Sitting in my local bar right now and the police have just come in and told the manager to stop serving alcohol. Its 2010 on a Saturday night. What are these people thinking of. Tourist numbers are way down and those that are here are now told that they can't have a drink - its lunacy.
Thailand eh - always trying to find new and exciting ways to stuff the country. And, they are suceeding.

Honestly, talk about burying ones head in the sand - hotel bookings are way down already and the number of foreigners on Bangkok's streets are noteable by their absence.
This is just another bunch of meaningless statistics geared up to try to convince people that all is not so bad really. Typical Thai mentality.

One over zealous police officer with a baton will spark a riot situation. Time to get out.
