  1. Subaru WRX or STI are the only options availble in Thailand that are real sports cars and don't require modding.

Expats can get finance, even the WRX has 220 bhp (detuned fro the Thai market) and a 2.5l turbo engine. If you want it can be modded to 270bhp very, very easily. With 4 wheel drive it out perfoms everything on the road except supercars, in the dry and in the wet. It is amazingly reliable and is the real deal.

I have not found anything to beat it - there are no EVO's sold by Mitsu so fogrt them, the GTI has just arrived and is not sold by teh VW main dealer (read spare risk for both).

Forget everthing else and at least test drive the scooby - you will be smitten!

Just wanted to check if you know who can do the ECU re-map on the Thai 220 hp Subaru to take it to the 265 or 270. Would you have any recomendations. Cheers.

  2. Nice condo's in Korat next to the lake, Bung ta Lua, some exosting and next door new ones under construction, project is called the beverly hills, quite expensive though, i think a nice spot and even better view out over the lake, worth checking out..

  3. I asked about this in two places and was told that they must add 3% (not a problem in your case, perhaps), as that's what they are charged.

This was obviously, no serious survey, and might depend upon negotiations. In my cases, I asked only after the price was determined including other factors such as green book, ins., etc.

A friend of mine bought his ER6n on his UK credit card, when he first enquired he was told there would be no surcharge however when he went to make the purchase they pulled the 3% surcharge story, when he refused to buy they dropped the surcharge, processed the payment on his card and he left with a new bike.

  4. I heard about this Bonanza track from my local bike mechanic in Korat, he mentioned it was 90% complete. I drove down to Bangkok last Saturday and there was a bunch of supercars driving flat out back from Khao Yai on a Rally, I had a chat with a guy when he stopped for fuel and he mentioned the same, said the track is nearly finished and should be open next month. Looks good and sounds great, will be a welcome change from the Kart track we are using up here at the moment. Happy days...

I've asked around an none of my Thai friends have heard about it. Very strange.

Thais with sports cars definitely know about this track- it's discussed on several Thai supercar forums, but I still haven't found any concrete information about exact location or confirmed opening date... Guess perhaps we'll know more in about 4 days!

  5. DHL tracking tells me that the stand has arrived and been handed over to Thai Customs. I'll soon find how much I'm in for when it goes to my home address. Fingers crossed the custom duty won't be outrageous..

Looking forward to your review Garry. I did have a good look at the videos on the web site but would like to see the mounting points more clearly plus of course a users review. Cheers.

  6. Amazing. I've lived here five years and never knew there was a Pro Bike dealer in town.

    Thanks.

Take the road to the army camp entrance next to bung talua lake, just beore approacing the lights at the entrance there is a bike shop on the left, look for a big trek sign. This shop has many high end bikes and parts, I heard that they are good at servicing.

  7. Last helmet I had sent I bought from the UK, it was sent along with a couple of other parts for my bike and duty was charged on the lot at around 30%, however having regular orders sent from overseas by various different postal methods it seems like it is just your luck on whether you get charged or not and at what rate. Defo one to avoid is UPS, shower of cnuts, last order I had with them delivering resulted in two fictitious add on fees, when I protested I was asked "do you want the parts or not" in the end I paid over 100% duty. Lesson learned.

  8. It has to be 5w, apparently. I have purchased these things called Ricor "Intiminators" to hopefully improve my ride. The Intiminators cost almost $300! I do not wish to experiment at this stage with other oil weights or mixes. Ricor recommends Amsoil 5w, but it's unavailable here. I found a shop that promised Motul 5w in 2 days... 4 days ago! TIT

Redbaron in Bangkok has the Motul 5W, I was in there last week and bought a couple of bottles of the light 5W and heavy 15W, if I recall they were about 450 baht a bottle.

  9. Fantastic, thanks for that. Are the IRC heavy duty ones a lot thicker than regular ones?

Yes, if you compare them there is quite a difference, much thicker material. Last time I used the second shop listed I had them send tyres and tubes to me on a motorcycle taxi because I did not want to tackle the trafic to get down there from central Bangkok, thought that was pretty helpful of them so depending on where you are at it might also be an option.

  10. Thanks for replys guys, its one of the first things i've ever bought in Thailand that does what its supposed to do, mind you it ought to look good considering the hassle i had getting it painted and carrying half way round the world !!!

Regarding the red temp plate, as you said its a shame the original plate isn't the same size instead of the dinner plate which i'm soon to recieve. Its possible to have them cut down but the embossed logo in the bottom right corner must not be touched. Anyway it was worse when i lived in Singapore, had to show license plate on front also, talk about killing the look (see attached pic of my baby)

To NormanW... judging from your avatar i take it you have Orange also, have you made enquiries about who can colour match yet, seriously, as my bloke in UK said its a biatch to get right...

On the aftermarket plastics, I got some pieces from Ermax in the UK, they took a while due to the fact that they were painted to the order, they came through in the orange and when I hold them up to the original parts on the bike they are a pretty good match. I never got the seat cowl and now I'm wishing I did after seeing your pictures, looks really good.

  11. Tony, have you managed to get an aftermarket air filter for your bike, something like a K&N, all the mail order sites I normally use only have listings up to a 2007 model, any pointers in the right direction appreciated, cheers...

    Hiya Kev_O,

Haven't looked for an aftermarket air filter as the stock filter is so incredibly thin and porous that I can't imagine an aftermarket would breath any better than stock.

Have you ever looked at the stock filter? On a bike this cheap I expected it would be a standard paper filter but actually it's about 1/8" think sponge soaked in low-viscosity oil. It's washable too which is cool. I really can't see how an aftermarket could breath any better than this:

Found this one on eBay but still not convinced it would be any better than the stock air filter above-

Here's the link to the eBay listing if you're interested: BMC Air Filter for Kawasaki ER6n, ER6f and Ninja 650R

Here's another one you might want to check out: "Pipercross ER6 (Ninja 650) Performance Air Filter" Link: http://www.twinshack.co.uk/prods/100.html

    Happy Trails!

    Tony

Thanks for the links and information, I did not realize the OEM air filter was as you mentioned, will take it out and have a look and will more than likely stick with that..cheers

  12. Well, since it seems it will be a while before I can get my ER6f I've decided to go ahead and do some upgrades to the ER6n.

Have some Spiegler stainless steel 2 line brake lines on the way-

And, since Dynojet still doesn't have fuel maps for the 2009 ER6n I've decided to go for a Two Brothers Racing Juice Box Fuel Controller to go with my Two Bros pipe instead of a Dynojet Powercommander-

Should receive my new goodies in about 2 weeks and am looking forward to better brakes improved fuel efficiency and a few more horsepower!

    Happy Trails!

  13. I was planning to buy a er6n, but I heard that kawasaki thailand are apparently out of stock for the next 3 months...

So my question is, would it be really boring and uncomfortable to go touring around Thailand for a couple of months on a ninja250 or d-tracker.

I also need to specify that my girlfriend would be behind me on the bike most of the time.

Are they too small and weak to cover long distances comfortably?

Would really appreciate some input from peoples with experience about these 2 bikes.

    Cheers.

On your search for an ER6 it might be worth calling the Kawasaki dealer in Korat, MPC Bike Shop, they have always had ER6's available when the other dealers were asking for a one month delivery after order. A couple of weeks ago they had 3 in stock, two orange and one black. The owners there speak good English and can be contacted on 044 255011 - 2

  14. Dropped in to the Kwaka dealer on Rama 9 today, they had an orange one in the showroom but much to my disappointment I was told that I could not but it as it was reserved, they reckon that there is now a month wait from placing an order. Does anyone know of any dealers that have available stock, as month is a long wait, cheers, kev :o

  15. To follow up from my misplaced post on the Yoshi, payment by credit card, no problems. I also ordered a K&N filter but when it arrived I realized it was for an old model, never got round to stripping the airbox to see if it fitted but in reading the other posts I doubt it will. When I was last in Bangkok I dropped in to TP motorcycle on the corner of Rama 1, got a Puig dark tinted wind shield, the guy there opened his laptop to show all the parts he could get, reckoned they were all available within half an hour of sending someone out to pick them up, he had a rear hugger, various carbon bits, braided lines, footrests and tail tidy to show, the prices he quoted were pretty steep though. Cheers.

  16. For anyone interested, I recently ordered a Yoshi carbon can and stainless system for the ninja from here http://www.morepowerracing.co.uk/?gclid=CJ...CFQKfnAodsQKtCg

delivered to Thailand with no issues.

I've ordered a couple of other things through here, http://www.babbittsonline.com/pages/catalo...hrome-ends.aspx

same deal, delivered to Thailand with no issues.

The exhaust system was shipped via the us postal service and took just over two weeks to arrive, picked up from the local post office and to my surprise there was no tax charged. The second company listed delivered via UPS, delivery time was about 5 days.

The Yoshi system looks the part but is very loud, a bit to loud in my opinion. As part of the kit it comes with a low volume insert, stuck that in and it is quieter and probably sounds nicer. Worth mentioning that the exhaust header pipes do not have the ported adapter to fit the sensor so needs to be modified. Cheers.

Meant to post this in the ninja 250 forum, oops.
