The money would be a gift.
Is this 'gift' taxable? Or am I allowed to give my wife any amount of money I choose and she can do what she wants with it?
(trying to avoid the 'that wasn't your wife's money she used to buy that land, and you didn't pay tax on that 'gift' so we are now taking your deed' scenario that people are worried about.)

Interesting.
What motorway were you on?
Do you have to visit a police station to pay?

For those of you who think the blocked sites are only related to rebellion, lese majeste, public order etc...think again.
I hit blocked sites all the time, just the other day i was trying to download SOPcast to watch some TV online...BLOCKED!
www.sopcast.com now goes to w3.mict.go.th
What does downloading streaming TV software have to do with the government?
streamtorrent.com and tvants.com are also blocked - why? Because the RedShirt TV channel is broadcast on them.
So, because of that I'm having trouble finding software to watch the world cup.

Overlooking Nawamin road just past major ratchayonthin . Usually 200+ cars a minute, from 9pm onwards I would say about 1 car a minute. Never seen it so quiet.

Please post this video for the world to see.
Thank you.

Shortly after the red leaders surrendered or went on the run it went up in flames, they did say previously that Bangkok would burn and burn it is in parts, IMO this was preplanned..
Now the debate will rage on like the fires in Bangkok and some people will say it had nothing to do with the reds, whoever it was it's a sad time for Thailand at the moment.
Yep. My GF showed me a video of one of the red leaders saying (effectively) "If we (the leaders) get taken, then you (the protestors) have to burn the buildings".
Please post this video for the world to see.

Who is that in the picture and when was it taken?
-
Does that mean it is actually happening?
-
Does not look like there are any dealers outside of Bangkok.
12 in total according to http://www.suzuki.co.th/webpage/network/index.html
Having said that, I am actually quite interested in the new Vitara. Pretty decent reviews on youtube...

The Toyota Vios G model is best value for your money, and gets great gas mileage compared to other models.
Barry
I would be wary of the Vios if you are tall. I was driving my cousin-in-law's around last week and my hair was brushing the ceiling. (I am 188cm)
The Jazz however, has lots of head room.

Good start. Now they should head across the bay to Bang Saen - It looked like this when I went last summer.

and hence I have less personal stake than I would in my real job.
This opens another interesting side to this discussion, what do the mods do for 'real' jobs? (and how do I land one of these jobs which gives me gobs of free time?)

Boring solution: Wait until 2020 when the ASEAN (or whichever one I think I'm referring to) agreement lets Australian wine into Thailand with no tariffs.
Until then, I'm drinking out of the Mont Clair tap with everyone else.

Thank you for that useful update Dave, this is the kind of post that makes thai visa a good place to visit.
Shame about those beer choices though...

I just flew here from the Seoul airport last night. There were two flights to BKK, one at 730pm (mine) and one at 830pm.
Both were less than half full so they cancelled my flight and put everyone on the 830 one.
At immigration last night the foreign line was actually faster than the Thai one, first time I'd ever seen that...

Does the OP have a picture to upload of the crash?

Thanks to everyone for your informative replies. Would like to update this thread to note that the sister in law has decided not to buy a car because every single person's opinion on the matter was negative towards buying such an old car.
She is now considering a motorbike, which is an even worse idea in my opinion (northern BKK roads)
I'll suggest the March idea, that seems like the best deal around.

I thought this model went out of production, or at least it wasn't on the Nissan website last year.
Then walking by a Nissan dealer yesterday I saw one on the dealer floor.
Now I see this thread.
Since this is 250k cheaper than a CRV I'm going to have to look a little bit harder at it.

* Fix the value of your car to whatever you want. So long as you're not unrealistic, the difference in the premium is negligable. Our cars have been fixed at 90% of new price for their entire lifespan (3 years now).
Wouldn't that give you an incentive to 'accidentally' wreck your car a few years down the line, then recieve 90% of what you paid for it? You would make more for crashing your car then you would by selling it!

I was there this afternoon and I've never seen it packed like that. Here are a couple pictures I took (sorry about the second one, my cameraphone sucks). Reminded me of Jatujak it was so crowded.
-
yes, I was there last night, today many items are up to 90% off, last night was up to 60% off. the missus has gone tonight, I don't have patience with slow people when it is not busy so tonight I would probably explode. I am not sure though whether it is the whole shopping centre or just the department store to be renovated.
Thanks for the info.
Any idea when the sale ends/store closes?
-
So I heard today that Central Ladprao department store is closing for 6 months soon (or possibly forever) for renovations.
Apparently everything there is on sale, as the merchants don't want to have stock leftover.
Anyone else heard this? Supposedly it has something to do with the Central group and the owner of the property being in a dispute of some kind.
Is this true? Anyone have any more info on this?
Thanks

Isn't this just basically just a rebadged Isuzu MU7? Any noticable differences?
and 1.3 mil for that limo isn't all that bad considering what the other options for cars with refrigerators in them must cost over here.
-
Chevrolet vehicles are more expensive to maintain and repair
Pickup NO is one of the cheapest as it is a Isuzu [even with genuine parts] but re the cars YES as mostly all parts are genuine , where as Toyota have many copy parts so can be much cheaper
This actually might be a good reason to buy a Chevy. Lack of 'copy parts' might be a good thing.

Red cats?
Probably not too popular on TV...
