Thanks to all replies. Seems it'll be ok but with my luck I'll probably be the first one they'll ask. Just sad they don't have a system where poor people who can support themselves adequately can stay with their wives in Thailand. I've been here 4 months now and my pension is fine for both if us. Not a lot to spare but quite adequate.

Cheers for that. Next time I will stay with my wife longer but was iffy about it this time as someone somewhere told me that if you left the country even for an hour they would ask for proof of finances on re entry.

This post is further to one I posted recently about 60 day extension by reason of being married to a Thai. Thanks to all replies this one was sorted at CWarner. The only glitches was that when I arrived in BKK in October they stamped the wrong type of visa into my passport, one that didn't allow for extension of stay. They acknowledged it was their mistake but took a lot of paper work to get it changed adding an extra 1 1/2 hours to my visit. But as I said all sorted now thank you. My next question , and this will show how new and na I've I am at all this. Next time I come into Thailand on a multi non imm. 'O" and show my 20,000 baht bank statementioned. When do I have to show that amount again or is the initial time when I apply the only time. As I mentioned in previous post I don't have enough money in savings or monthly income to stay permanently but could stay up to a year with a multi entry visa. My point is , do I have to show that amount of money on each re-entry or 90 day report or is the first time the only time. Sorry if this seems stupid to readers but cant find an answer anywhere. With what I show initially and my measly 25,000 baht nz pension I can last a year easily as we have a house in Thailand so no rent. Any helpful replies much appreciated.

It will be the standard 1900 baht fee charged for all extensions.
Thanks Ubonjoe.

I'm sorry to be a nuisance here but maybe Ubonjoe or someone else can give me a heads up on best course. It's probably been asked before but I'm new at all this. Been married to a Thai lady for 11 years but because not enough finances can't stay permanently as much as I'd like to. This time I'm on a multi entry non imm O visa of which tells first 90 days expires on Jan20. I am booked to fly back to the States on Feb 20. (By the way I'm a Kiwi) Am I best to do a border run and get another 90 days or can I go to immigration. Dept Chaeng Watthana and just get a 30 day extension. My concern with the latter is that 30 days from January 20 ends on Feb 19. Would that be a problem or would they give me an Xtra day to leave if I asked them. Thanks.

I agree with lots that have been said but still doesn't alter the fact that for a modern/developing country it is a bit backward to all go to lunch at the same time. Its a bit like the inner regions of old Mexico. Get up to Date Thailand.

Rotten little swine, I knew he'd done it right from the start. No remorse or sadness, never heard three shots. Worried mid afternoon, rushed home, yeah right, Plenty of motive, gun in right hand, Thai Police may have faults but sure got this one right. Hope they throw the book at the spoilt little drunken Brat.

Ive been married to a lovely Thai lady for seven years now and during all that time Ive often wondered ,"Does she really love me"Its sometimes very hard to know but as some of the writers have said its the little things that tell you.Always going out of her way to make sure you have something to eat etc. I don't know if its just my wife or not but not too long after we were married it didn't seem like she wanted to be intimate much anymore. Certainly different from when we first met. Someone told me this is common with thai women. Im not sure though.Sometime seems that as long as you continue to give them what they want they will stay with you but sometimes you feel youd like a little more. Maybe Im just hard to please but there is always a nagging doubt in the back of your mind.

married in thailand, could wife go to US to divorce me?

I was married in NZ and my wife left me. A divorce in NZ takes 3 years separation first so I went to visit my sister who was living in the States and found out that if I lived in the state of Nevada for just 6 weeks or get someone to vouch that I had been there six weeks I could get a divorce which I did and NZ recognizes that divorce. So someone on a tourist visa can get a divorce in three US.
