1. Phuket Gazette:

Viagra overdose may have caused Finn’s death

PATONG: -- Pekka Juhani Laakso, 47, from Finland, was yesterday found dead in his room at the Sun, Sea & Sand Hotel on Rat-U-Thit 200 Pi Rd, seemingly from an overdose of Viagra.

Pol Lt Padungpong Sukkaew told the Gazette that he had received a call at 3:30 pm from Preecha Nuwongsri, the hotel’s manager, telling him that a corpse had been found in one of the hotel’s rooms.

The door to the room had had a “Do not disturb” sign posted on it for two days before cleaning staff informed the manager that they suspected something was amiss. Upon investigation, the body was discovered lying on the bed.

The lighting and air conditioning was on and investigating officers found evidence of used Viagra and stomach medicine in a waste bin.

Mr Laakso was estimated to have been dead for about 36 hours when he was found, dressed in a black T-shirt and underwear, his hands still tightly gripping the bedsheets.

A doctor, called from Patong Hospital, said that the death was most likely caused by overdosing on the sexual stimulant, leading to heart failure.

Lt Padungpong said there was no evidence of violence, but police are waiting on results from Patong Hospital to confirm the cause of death. The Finnish Embassy in Bangkok has been informed.

    What goes up...must come down

  2. How about swithc off 1/2 the lights on the expressway!!!

Or better still switch off all headlights, woks in Egypt!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Great idea but Mr Big should start by turning the lights off or maybe only have 1 in 4 lights on along his red carpet raod in Sankamphaeng Chiangmai its a total nightmare (excuse the pun) travelling at night along this road as the lights are set to low and there are way to many

There must be more lights along this road then in the entire kingdom...such a waste

  3. <snip>

As for this nonsense it was never said that over 1800cc cars were to be banned. They were talking about stopping future imports of gas guzzlers but even that idea was dropped yesterday.

The three things that are left on the list for discussion are garages closing at 10pm till 5am excepting those on major routes.

Billboard lights to be turned off at 9pm.

Major shopping centres have to be provided with meter taxi parking and the police will have to arrange this.

So as usual it was a load of <deleted> and please try to get yourselves up to date guys as this sort of posting causes unnecessary worry and grief.

Yes thanks Hilly for the clarification

What i read sometimes seems like the brain is not engaged before opening mouth

Lets cut down on fuel usage i have a non imigrate O class visa so every 3 months from what i understand i must cross the border so why not let visa holders like myself just get a stamp from the local immig office instead of having to travel so much

It surely can't be to hard

  4. Hey I have been thinking about this for a while: Inverter aircon uses 30% less power than traditional/basic aircon. How about inverter upgrade kits for your aircon? Can you get ones for Mitsubishi aircon (the most popular/cheapest)? Anyone know anything about this?

Why not try central type A/C unit, my wife and i suggested this to our muu barn poo bar and they just looked at us like we were from mars.

Its simple 1 unit to cool the house with different zones that can be turned on and off ...much cheaper then aunning 7 stand alone units that we are now facing in our house

Thailand sells vision for energy-saving remote control

BANGKOK: -- Turn off the television in Thailand, the Government will do it for you. Amid an energy crisis, the Government has told TV and radio stations to shut down from midnight each night or face broadcasting bans.

TV companies say they will comply if the Government makes it compulsory for all, but they warn that a blackout will not cut power usage.

The blackout was among voluntary measures recommended this week by the Energy Policy and Planning Office to lower energy consumption.

Other recommendations include increasing air-conditioning temperatures in Government offices to 25 degrees, and shutting down systems at lunch and from 4pm to 9am; asking golf courses to switch off unnecessary lights; and asking people to use their cars less at weekends.

"It's time for a serious saving of energy consumption by all the people in the country," Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra said. "I urge everyone to do their part to help conserve energy. We need to tighten our belts really hard."

Thailand's energy crisis is not about a shortage of power, but its cost to the economy.

"We are addicted to oil. We consume it in many ways, household, industrial and electricity," said energy researcher Suthakij Nuntavorakarn.

The Government has threatened to make the broadcasting measures compulsory if power use is not reduced by 10 per cent over three months.
