Somewhat normal for that very small area of Pattaya and at that late hour.

I believe that was the year that the Liner QE2 visited Thailand.
I recall that some of the QE2 guys challenged the local Muay Thai fighters to a boxing competition. It was held at the Marine Bar on WS and just happened to coincide with one of my many trips to Pattaya. Well, never was so much fun had by the Thais with their boys knocking over the sailors one after the other. I think the final score was 10-0 despite the sailor boys being, on average, at least 2 or 3 weight divisions heavier than the locals.
Got to the stage that the Thais were clearly holding back on their level of assault (unlike nowadays!!) and were even seen to be wincing when a punch they had thrown caused the sailors to collapse to the floor. Maybe they had been instructed to hold off, wanting to extend the entertainment time.
I recall that there was a 'Whicker's World' TV episode shown on UK TV with a few shots of the mayhem.
Good times!!

They actually are not giving the beaches back to the tourists on those cleaning days :D
More like giving the beaches to the cheap charlies during those 2 days. Anyone of sound mind does not call Pattaya beach any kind of resort beach.
I agree. I have no interest in sitting on Pattaya Beach, the odd time I feel like a beach day I go to Jomtien and when get there I realise it is Wednesday, as I tend not to keep track of what day it is when I get to Pattaya!!

Why not alternate the days for different beaches? That way if you want to sit on the beach with an umbrella you could go to Jomtien or Naklua when Pattaya is given back to the tourists? Makes sense to me. That way they could keep the beach cleaning crew 6 days per week,

I can never understand why people wait until the last possible few days or in fact last day to extend or do business with immigration. Not a personal reply to this poster, but in general in Thailand.
My friend went early last week for the same expiry date and was told to come back this week. I would sooner get it extended the day after I arrive, then I do not have to think about it!!

- Monday to Wednesday. Closed on the 31st and 1st.
- The extension starts from the end of the 60 days.
Thanks for the prompt reply. I like it when I am right!!!!

Does anyone know what days they are open over the next week or so? I have to go for 30 day extension before Jan 4th.
Another question, does the 30 day extension begin after the 60 day has expired, or at time of issue? I was sure it is the former but my friend strongly feels it is the latter.

Hi
I have a related question, a couple of others have already been answered on this thread without even asking so Thks to the posters who replied to OP
I have a single entry tourist visa, expires March 16.
I want to extend it by 30 days, at Jomtien.
Question is : will I be asked to show proof of exit( flight booking ) from Thailand after the 30 days is up?
I will be heading back to the UK on or about April 12-14, probably via another neighbouring country but would prefer to leave booking travel plans until just a few days before end of that 30 day extension period.
Many Thanks
I went down to Jomtien on Thursday to get a 30 day extension. The advice I was given on this thread was accurate.
I do have a couple of things to add that may make it easier for a first timer like myself.
- I got there around 11 am and was told to come back at 1 pm. Went for a massage to kill the time and returned at 12:30 and was given a number. I was all done and out of there by 2:30.
- I went to the lawyers/visa service office next door and they made the copies I needed for 10 baht, she then offered to fill out the form for me, I tipped her 20 baht. The form is not complicated but for 20 baht I will let someone more familiar fill it out.
- When your number comes up it is about 30 seconds, stamping your passport etc. then they hand the passport and 1900 baht fee to another desk, I then waited a further 5 minutes for my number to come up on a different screen to retrieve my passport and receipt.
All very smooth and efficient.

I am sure this has been answered before.
My 60 day visa expires on Feb 10th and I need to go to the Immigration office in Jomtien to get a 30 day extension.
Does the extension start on the day I get it or does it start after my 60 days is up?
What do I need to take with me?
Thanks for your help.

They are designed to be dismantled with an angle grinder in a day. Actual construction cost is very low, and most of the steel tubing can be used again.
