    Naturally not.  It will be in the ticket price, as mentioned in the article, however "expats" will have to cough up;

"This is because airlines are only able to recognise passenger information, such as nationality, and not the immigration status of a foreign national residing in Thailand."

Of course the airline doesn't necessarily know the nationality of the passenger at the time of booking/payment (most, including TG, don't ask in my experience) so will either have to charge everyone the same and refund Thai's later or collect the money when they finally learn who they are carrying, neither seems workable.  So perhaps all airlines will have to modify their booking systems to accommodate this.  I can see a further delay coming.

When I book my ticket for LOS with Air France, I have to show my passport at the same time. Otherwise, no ticket.  So they certainly know my nationality.

Do you think all these sophisticated x-rays, sniffer dogs etc catch everything?

It's very likely they've been succesful for some time or do you think this was their first attempt?

I watch an Oz series.  It's amazing just what lengths the senders will go to.  They come up with new ideas all the time.  But the post office people are upto the mark also.  To start with it's the countries that they watch.

I used to think Mrs. Shrdlu was daft to go around the house unplugging all the electrical appliances (save the refrigerators) from the mains.

Nowadays I'm not so sure after reading many times that electrical faults are suspected of causing fires here. Of course, "electrical fault" could be modern shorthand for arson the way "rats in matches" was many years ago.

Actually she is right, but not for the reason. It saves a lot on the electricity bill.  There are lots of articles and comments on the TV about it nowadays in France.

Ahh, the joys of peacefully meandering through wooded areas and paddocks and the sheer joy of discovering this delectable fungi ... It appears my mushroom foraging days are passed. Many gold tops enjoyed as a young hippie soul-surfer ????????

I won't bother to tell my story, as it has already been told by the other posters.  I will only say that it is in France and all about cepes.  It must be the same in lots of countries.

I agree with Scuba.  I would n't want to go.  I'm already b......   by the 3 plane trip.  I usually have 20 or 3 thousand baht on me - enough for the taxi.  The hotel usually wait until the next day for the 2 months due.

I meant 2 not 20.  Didn't know how to change it.

Thanks!  I'm due to have one eye done on Tuesday (Europe).  I thought it was just a simple old thing. just half an hour and another half resting.

I'm from a place where one never asks "Where are you from?"

The most banal question in the history of conversation.

No.  It's Are you English?  As though it's the only English speaking country.  When the answer is a terse No, we then go around the British Isles.

  9. I have had this one day biz about 3 or 4 times.  Never had to pay.  They just puta comment under the stamp in my passport.  I once was going to Penang by train and I was 2 days late and I had to pay the 1000 baht.  It was rather funny, at the same time there was a group of English girls, who had forgotten the date and were almost a week over. They were all rather gorgeous, laughing etc.  The Imm boys took it all in fun too and just made them pay the amount due  i.e.the train was held up because of all this.

He also bought the prisoners each a lunch from the market. It was all over Thai Twitter yesterday.

But the Salim run news media don't want you to know that.

He's a genuinely good man, Thailand need more of him desperately.

    He sounds good.........so far!

I go.or went.to a resto. in CM.  It had a pleasant garden part. just off a main road. and the stink sometimes was unbearable.  It all came from the drains.
