BKK, is not my cup of tea, and I prefer Isaan, such as Amnat Charoen (near Ubon) !
I am renting now, a little appartement in Amnat charoen (4000 Tbath/month), but i would
like to buy (condo/house), and business there ! (and Have work permit)
I know law restriction about buying land for farang and working !
I am only 43 years old.
Can anybody help me, and know Amnat Charoen ?
How can i stay and work in Amnat ?
What sort of business is possible to create ?
What should be the price of a condo / land / little house ?
Do you know a good lawyer there ?

Is there an increase? What are the comparable statistics??
See this site: http://www.murderuk.com/misc/stats.htm
In the UK, about 15 murders every week.
I 'acquired' this statistical information from an apparently reliable source, but I don't know how accurate this is:
THAILAND
1995 - 4,542 (only 2,075 arrested)
1996 - 4,474 (1,934)
1997 - 4,485 (1,091)
1998 - 5,717 (2,168)
1999 - 4,648 (1,802)
2000 - 5,135 (2,043)
UNITED KINGDOM
2000 - 850
So in the yr 2000 the per capita then the percentage is UK 1.42 murders per head of population, versus 8.38 in Thailand.
In the same period in the USA, it was about 5.51%, of which 71% were gun crimes!
So in Thailand in yr 2000, the per capita rate of murder is six times higher than the UK, since the populations are roughly equal. But, only about 30% of murderers in Thailand are arrested, so the clear up rate is very low.
Would be interesting to know how many out of the murders in Thailand were ferang.
I know Thailand is not Brazil, for farangs or tourists. But in Year 2000, the 5135 murders in Thailand seem to be incredibly too many ! In comparison with the 850 murders of UK, that are so many !
And only 30% of murderers are arrested !
One weak ago, Pam was assassinated, tragically !!
The land of smiles, is turning very bad !

RIP fellow Australian.
Hopefully the ones responsible for this murder are punished to the full extent of the law. Tourists needn't put up with stray bullets whilst on holiday, travelling is dangerous enough as it is.
I agree, the criminals have to be punished, who ever they are and where ever they go, they will be punished, i wish that at least for pam memory !

the world is going more and more monstrous and unhuman
I don't think so. The world has always been so and is going to stay so. It's just something some people don't realize.
Hope the girl gets a full recovery.
OK you hope Pam will get a full recovery, I would have believed you very much.
But I think it si unfortunately a very hard wound that hurt her so much. I can not imagine myself if i were her, a 26 yers old girl going on living with such a real wound .
I would like her to survive and without handicaps at all for the rest of her life ! But I do not know if it will be possible.
Her life and her family circle have been broken anyway !

Nurse shot in neck in drive-byFrom correspondents in Thailand
June 19, 2006
A BRISBANE woman is in intensive care in Thailand after being hit in the neck in a drive-by shooting.
Pam Fitzpatrick, 26, of Springwood was wounded when three shots were fired into a crowded bar in Kanchanaburi, about 130km west of Bangkok early today.
The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFAT) tonight confirmed the shooting, saying Ms Fitzpatrick, a nurse, had been "seriously injured".
"Thai police are investigating the incident and a consular officer from the Australian embassy in Bangkok travelled to Kanchanaburi to assist the woman," a spokesman said.
"She has since been admitted to hospital in Bangkok."
Channel 9 reported Ms Fitzpatrick had been in Thailand just 24 hours after being reunited with younger sister Jenny, who was returning from Europe.
Waratora Jiamjai, a friend of Ms Fitzpatrick, said they were at the bar when two men approached on a motorbike.
"I heard bang, bang, bang ... and then I saw the guys on the motorbike," she told Nine.
"We saw Pam was laying on the floor with her blood on the floor."
Ms Jiamjai believed her friend was the innocent victim of a local feud involving the bar's owner.

Fast Heartbeat
in Health and Medicine
Posted · Edited by ErikaG
Hi Orchis,
I advise you, to make a complete blood checkup (ionogram...)!
Many factors can make your heart beat faster !
For example a low potassium level, or medecine ...
Do not panic, but go to make your checkup as soon as you can !
