  1. Attempts at bulling and sour grapes will last for a couple of years until the politicians in Europe are forced to wake up and find that many of their own people also want out of the EU. I am proud to be British just like a German is proud to be German and an Italian Italian etc. We all want to retain our national identity and none of us want to be lumped together as 'Europeans'

Boris will do fine and one day in the future I think he will still be Prime Minister.

  2. Your going to be a heading here too early for the deals. There is normally a 'golf festival' in August and September when green fees are discounted by anything up to 75%.

Although the courses are quiet at the moment you will be paying the best part of Baht 5000 to play Black Mountain and not much less for Banyan and Springfield.

Palm Hills is a really nice course and in very good condition (although the greens have just been hollow tined) and that will cost you a little over Baht 3000 with caddy and cart. Same with Lake View and Majestic.

Cheapest is Royal Hua Hin which is still close to Baht 3000 with caddy and cart.

If your not fixed on dates wait until early August and you can save yourself a lot of money.

  3. If it can take 737 / A320 size and the airport is not used why expand the airport - just throwing money away

What i would like to see is a commuter service to Suvarnabhumi.

It is ridiculous to put Tourists, or Expats through a 4 hour , 230km ordeal by road to Hua Hin/Paknampran in a Camry which possibly costs as much as much as their international flight.

If Thailand wants quality Tourists they had better step up.

Take the Hua Hin Airport Bus which has been operating for more than 2 years.... Tickets are around 300 Baht.

Not for me, I want something better, as do many others.

Don't knock it until you try it

  4. All the tuk tuk drivers will know the Sirin Hotel and it's about as central as you can get. You might have a problem getting a tuk tuk from the railway station because it's so close (10 mins walk max) but I would suggest you use the bus anyway.

Around the Sirin you will see the City Beach Hotel and Jed Pee Nong Hotel all close by plus a dozen more small hotels.

  5. There are plenty of small hotels even in the middle of town although I am not sure how busy they are at the moment.

You can find a lot of them, like the Sirin Hotel, on Booking.com and if you can find somewhere around there you will be close enough to restaurants, bars and the beach that you won't really need to find a tuk tuk. There are some meter cabs but not too many.

  6. Got to say I think your way out on your estimate.

Split the people into two groups

    1) Farangs who live here

    2) Holiday makers

Holiday makers are here for 2 weeks and just want to relax and enjoy themselves whether it's in gogo bars or anywhere else they sell alcohol. Holiday makers all around the world tend to drink a bit, or a lot, too much but they're on holiday so I don't think you should put their drinking down just to being in Thailand.

Re local Farangs I don't think more than a small % have a drinking problem. In fact a lot of them don't drink at all because often the longer you are here drinking often looses it's appeal.

  7. I believe there is a bus service direct from Hua Hin to Pattaya. I was in the bus station a couple of weeks ago (Hua Hin Soi 90 something) and saw it advertised.

Based on what they charge to get to the airport your probably looking at 500-600 Baht and about 6 hours travelling time but they are executive (VIP) coaches.

  8. I visited Thailand around 40 times on both business and for holidays with my wife and we spent time in Bangkok, Phuket (only Patong), Pattaya and Hua Hin. When it came time to move here to stay there was only one choice for us - Hua Hin.

I have to admit that was only 8 months ago but we love it.
