About a moth ago I had to go to Bangkok for 1 day and when I returned home I was forced to quarantine by myself for 14 days (even though I'm fully vaccinated). Then we had 2 returnees from Bangkok last week here in the village, and of course no one was forced to follow the mandated 14 day quarantine (I guess rules only apply to white men...)...
so as of yesterday the village have 10 households with covid-19 and we have already seen the first death from covid-19 among those who got infected by those 2 returnees! -
Well, it's a little bit better then the COVID-19 tests... I saw one private hospital doing the test and a "COVID free" certificate for 3000 Baht ... I was quoted $2.50/test if I bought a batch of at least 500 the same test from the producer...

The school registered all staff for vaccination... but the local hospital said that I have to wait until August-September... after all Thai in the district that wants the jab have been vaccinated first!

Thai - Israeli relation....
Every year about a hundred Thai workers dies working on Israeli farms. They all get diagnosed with "sudden death syndrome", that way the farmers don't have to pay anything even though it's 99.9999% sure that that they die because they are working with agro-chemicals (Israel is in the top 3 of countries using agro-chemicals) without the employers providing proper PPE... So save the Thai - Israeli relationship!!!
And Thailand shouldn't really anger the Muslim as one of Thailand's best growing export markets is Halal food!- 2

And then they wonder how Thailand could pass the first wave of COVID-19 with ease but with the second and third wave it just went down hill...

The kink is there to accommodate the water pipe (looks like the one they have here to fill the water trucks for the fire department), and at least they have finished the job! When I got here 8 years ago they were working on the road here.... and they are still working! I can only guess it's a never ending string of brown envelopes that keeps the work going...

Renewing a Swedish passport usually takes 6 days-2 weeks in Bangkok (last time I applied Friday morning and could pick up my new passport Thursday), while it takes about 6 months for my South African friends to do the same thing. So the process time is really different from country to country!

I start to wonder if Thailand have a problem with the police?! Real police officers in plain clothes behaving like a comedy hit team, and a fake police officers shooting a real gun in real police uniform...

I don't know if those numbers are right... I used to teach at Pichit prison and was told back then that the prison was initially built to house 500 male prisoners, but a part of the prison had been converted to house female prisoners... So when I was there there were over 1000 male and almost 500 female prisoners! And each prisoner had roughly 0.8 square meter living space in the cell!!!

Construction workers... read Burmese and Cambodian workers! I mean, the new variant didn't get to Thailand on 2 legs and these workers are most likely not subjected to 14 days quarantine when they cross the border... In the end it all comes down to the greed of the construction companies!

Debatable....
It depends on how you count! If you count the total tonnage of agro chemicals used, then US and China are in top, but if you count the amount of agro chemicals used per ton food produced, then Israel and US end up in top...
that's why many countries, like in Europe and Thailand are skeptical to import American and Israeli products as they use lots of agro chemicals, and many of those chemicals are banned in a majority of the world as they are harmful. Just remember Roundup that is so safe that you can drink it... but it will give you cancer! -

25-30 Thai farm workers die in Israel every year, on their death certificates it just says "Sudden Death Syndrome" so employers or Israeli insurance don't have to pay any compensations to their families! The real issue is that they have no or inadequate PPE when working with chemicals (Israel use most agro chemicals in the world!), and the owners of the farms knows and abuse this as those who complain about anything usually gets fired, arrested and ultimately deported!
So, at least the families of these two will get some kind of compensation from Israel!!!- 5

Since last year it's a hoard of new caddies here at the local golf club... they were all "working" in Pattaya, Pukhet and Bangkok before the covid-19 shutdown!

Not that far fetched as CP owns 7-11 and they also owns 15% of Sinovac Biotech...

I had an experience that could have been the same if I would have worn an helmet... driving from work to home (500m) and the cable hit my glasses and the slid off my head. When I complained about the low hanging cable I got the answer "Cable no problem! You, tall farang is problem! See, Thai people no problem!" and they had a Thai drive under the cable... I guess that comparing 150cm Thai vs. 192cm farang made more sense to them than raise the cables?!

Just checked with the school here, we are in an orange zone, so we will open July 1st if the provincial health authority gives us the green light. Apparently the administrators started to work on the 44 point list already yesterday, and have signed up all personnel for vaccination ASAP at the local hospital. And as a majority of the students here are living on campus, they will be subjected to 14 day quarantine before they are allowed to leave the school and go in to the city.
At least I'm one of the lucky foreigners working in the schools here in Thailand, I get paid for every month of the year, while I have friends that aren't paid when they don't work/teach, so they are already at 2 months without salary! -
Well, it becomes online classes again, then we are doomed... in January internet worked well until 08:00 and after 16:00, between 08:00 and 16:00 average time connected to zoom or google meet was 1 minute before having to start all over again and reconnect, and it was the same on all 3 ISP's that I have available (AIS, CAT and Uninet)! I guess that the local internet hubs got overwhelmed as everyone was supposed to study online?!

Thailand have 150 COVID-19 deaths since last year and 5,250 road fatalities so far this year... maybe they should raise the fees for not following the traffic rules too so that people start wearing helmets and stop drunk driving?!

Well, here in the village we already have the problem that when it's a hot day and everyone turns on their AC, then the BIG fuse before the transformer cuts out... so I guess that every house needs to install solarcells just to charge their EV!

Yeah, US and now even EU have banned all exports of covid-19 vaccines, so Russia and China are having a field day making vaccine diplomacy...

Here at work they were planing for a bus trip at the end of the month, I told them that they were crazy because after Songkran, then Thailand will be back in lock down again... that was even before the **** hit the fan in Thong Lor and this latest wave started!

They started a project to deepen the local retention (monkey cheek) dam here were I live. The plan was that they would dig out about 6,000 truckloads of dirt from when they started until the rainy season would stop the job... now they they are closer to 12,000 truckloads as we have yet to see any heavy rain and the problem now is that they are starting to run out of land to put the soil/dirt that they dig up.
The local river that is supposed fill the dam is also dry... the only water you can see are some big puddles that have formed when it have rained... the rest of it has just turned in to a "green bush river".- 1

Just re-train the monkeys so they can get better jobs...

Well, they keep coming with quarantine and stay at home orders... so I have stocked up with food and all other essentials so I can last a month or maybe two without leaving home!
