  1. I feel very sorry for unmarried guys under 50 who have purchased condos here.

Until last year you could always get a O visa by showing your chanote to a consulate (though they never advertised it) starting last year they say they can't do that anymore.

It's a disgrace that the law allows a person to purchase property in a country but then potentially won't allow him to stay there.

Don't feel sorry for them. When there's a will, there's a way. And there is a way, infact there's multiple.

  2. If you're able to obtain a Visa for "Studying Thai" 4 hours per week, then perhaps you should also be able to obtain a Visa "Teaching English" 4 hours per week...

Makes alot more sense giving out Visas for Farang who are doing something that's actually beneficial...

Thai authorities should really think more practically when it comes to issuing Visas, why not give Farang the option to do some kind of good will or charity type of work for X amount of time in order to obtain a 6-12 month Visa. I know in Australia foreigners who want to extend their Visa have to go slave it out on a country farm/ orchard for a few months frist.

The whole Visa issue here is abit of a joke really. They talk about cracking down of Farang doing Visa runs/ staying here illegally etc, however now all you have to do is become a "student" or pay for some ridiculous "Elite" card. Also, who calls a visa entitlement an Elite card? It's like they're tying to sell it as some sort of hi-so club entry.

You got an Elite card? All good, you can come in. Stay for 5 years if you like.

    Only in Thailand....

  3. I'm in the same boat, I work online and have been staying here on tourist Visas for the last 18 months. I'm planning on leaving next month when my current lease runs out. I have friends in similar situations, some of whom are going down the Ed visa route, but I'm not wasting my time doing that just to get a Visa. There's no way i'm paying for an "elite card" what a joke, i'm not staying here for 5 years! If you're in your 20's then how can you know where you'll be in 5 years! Maybe one year would of been nice. I have enjoyed my time living here, love the food, the girls( non working girls), and basically enjoyed the bang for your buck. I also got to live in a fancy condo that would of cost 5 times the price in the city I last lived in ( Sydney).

As for obtaining a work permit if you "work online", what an impossibility. I trade on a foreign stock market, and pay taxes in my home country. I don't even have a Thai bank account, the fee structure I currently have doesn't make it worthwhile.

  4. Okay buddy,

I'm not sure if anyone has mentioned this already, and I'm not going to read through all the pages and check.

However If you're in your mid 20's, then the easiest way to pick up Thai girls in Bangkok( especially if you're shy and lazy) is to use an online dating App like Skout or Badoo!! It is unbelievably simple, and you'll also get the chance to meet Uni girls, good girls who are shy and don't go out much, or even "Hi-So" type of girls- girls you would likely never get the chance to meet in a club/ at the mall/ at the gym etc. I used to use these apps for abit of a laugh in other countries I've lived in ( Australia/ UK), however in Bangkok it's really like you're shopping at a candy store. I guess if you're young and decent looking it makes things easier( If you're old then you're probably wasting your time on there), but i'm sure if your young and can speak Thai then that gives you a distinct advantage aswell.....Have a chat with them, add them on line, meet up with them and there friends for a drink etc etc...Then thank me later. These type of dating apps are probably more effective in Bangkok than anywhere else in the world. In surveys Asian girls that go on these type of dating apps have a preference towards White guys.

Note: On the likes of Badoo there's alot of ladyboys/ working girls , and girls you just don't need to waste your time talking to. So make sure you filter though and find the ones your like- don't even bother talking to girls that look like they might be working girls. The quality of girls is generally better on Skout, but there's a little bit more competition on there aswell.

  5. Douwe Egberts at makro , 500 gr for under 150,- THB if i remember correctly.

I bought some of this the other day at Macro was affraid it was going to be trash based on the price . But its pretty good coffee for the price .....

Spend another 40 THB per kg and you can get Duang Dee grown right here in the North of Thailand, freshly roasted. Very nice tasting coffee and I am a 'coffee snob'. They have 3 roasts, medium, dark, and one other. I always buy the original which is the medium roast. Highly recommended. Drinking a cup right now...

Couldn't agree more, Duang Dee is decent coffee. I used to live in Sydney where my local coffee house would freshly roast beans everyday, so no coffee has ever tasted the same since. Obviously Duang Dee is never going to be that fresh, but I always manage to pick it up relativity fresh( within a month from when it was roasted). Also the price is half most of the other stuff that comes from the North.

  6. I don't see what the big deal is. Now you just have to go to an embassy/consulate outside of Thailand and apply for a tourist Visa, which will either get you a 3 month or 6 month stay depending on whether you get a double. I'm not sure why people who live here were willing to trek to a border every 15/30 days for a re-entry. What a waste of time. If your worried about not being granted another Visa after multiple attempts, then fly to a country that's not neighbouring Thailand and apply there.

  7. Might be hard to find at a shop, your best bet for a timely delivery would be to buy online from a Thai store and save the hassle of shopping round.

    http://amino10.com/catalogsearch/result/?q=L-Theanine or http://www.thaimarketshare.com/product_detail.php?productid=859

As per any supplement in Thailand, prices are inflated. So the best bet could be to just order from one of the nootropic websites, be sure to keep your order under $50-60 so Customs don't pick it up and add on some BS import duty.
