  1. And after the extension is granted, the money can be used up during the next 9 months, then a "refill" from abroad (if you prefer).

Generally it is also possible to convert/send back the money (if you have proof of transfer from abroad).

Yes, I do worry somewhat about the economical future of Thailand.

Big crash of the Baht? Not likely if civil war can be avoided.

Don't forget that if you dont have a Thai will& anything happens then the Thais keep whatever is in their banks in your name. It dont matter if you have a will in your own country. Personally think that is really the reason for this rule on long term stay visa's & extentions

Untrue! Wills made in other countries can also cover Thai assets, where specified. The benefit of having a Thai Will also is because it simplifies the probate process.

I prefer the advice given me by my UK solicitor & my Thai Lawyer who both said the same. Another rule is that the Thai will & he UK will should be in both languages

  3. I keep as little as poss in banks ,Im a firm believer that banks & government agencies can't be trusted .I stay here on a tourist visa because I refuse to reveal any wealth to get a visa where I need not go on visa runs. I have turned my runs into top trips rather than missions. However it is my misstrust & the certainty that officials when then know you have something want to get their grubby hands on it.

The banks are the same just different scam. I couldn't believe they charged for putting money in one of their own accounts robbing Bs

  4. My take on reading this thread was that Abhisit and Suthep could be charged with abuse of power........

Maybe I'm reading between the lines and missing something........

You are missing something. The court is saying that he issued orders without reasonable grounds for doing so i.e his actions were not proportionate to the threat faced. This means that any "protection" afforded abhist, suthep and any the security forces by the State of Emergency is nullified.

Bangkok was burning and there were no grounds for issuing orders to clear the reds! Actions were not proportional to the threat faced! trying to re write history are we?clap2.gif

No it wasn't burning at the time the shootings started .dear me trying to rewrite history are weclap2.gif

  5. You live by the sword, you die by the sword! If they murdered some one what should happen to them?

I find it hard to believe all 529 people murdered one policeman. It sounds like those who believe they are in charge went into the area, rounded up everyone who was within the vicinity and have decided to exterminate them.

A good 10-20 years of civil war will decimate Egypt back to the level it deserves to be at : a barren wasteland in the desert.

it would only be the poor that suffers as always

  6. "The defendants argued that they were exercising their political rights protected by the Constitution"

The Yellow supporters are saying exactly the same thing.

But Chalerm is after them, trying to send them to jail.

    Double standards at it's best.

Why double standards ? The yellows get their day in court & the court will decide so no double standards

  7. In BKK if there is any spare land it is soon gobbled up with rubbish mostly from refurbishments. There is also plenty of dog sh*te . However feeders love the smell of that stuff. When you think about it there are no council yards to take your bigger rubbish to.

As to the red shirt site , they would of rented it & in the rent would of been the clean up fees but maybe the owner don't want to pay people. I would love to know how he knows they had ugley faces , is cause they is brown Also has the op ever seen Blackpool after a weekend .

  8. With all the new social media (as they call it) are forums on the way out ? I think they are. Once upon a time forums was fun as well as a place where maybe you could ask for info about things . Now theres no fun just for most of the time the same few members that have lost the fun side of forums. Just what I see from where I am sitting.

    Rehearsal march

BANGKOK: -- Rally leader Suthep Thaugsuban on Monday leads a five-kilometre march to meet people along Rama IV, Surawongse and Mahesak roads.

The march which he said was a rehearsal for the major demonstration scheduled this Saturday was made under tight security.

  10. I will keep restating the obvious, this whole debacle is a direct result of allowing a fugitive on the run from Justice the freedom to dictate policy, appoint the prime minister and Gov actions from Dubai. That fact negates everything else going on due to the scale of corruption and abuse being perpetrated across the country including in the so called Issan heartlands.

The Shins are what are preventing the development of real democracy in Thailand. PTP need another leader untainted by the shame of the Shin clan and then some semblance of Thai politics can return.

The notion that the Shins will be allowed to just carry on is a fantasy and step by step they are losing control. The next obvious move is legal convictions against Shin sister No1.

Forget your ideological dreams of democracy, this is Thailand. It works differently here and the likes of taksin give no hope to the whole nation.

    +1000

It really starts and ends there. All this BS about elections, rice scams, mega projects, committees, red shirts, yellow shirts etc. is all a smokescreen for the real issue. The fact that a convicted criminal fugitive is running the country through his sister is the root cause. I'm still surprised that all this didn't happen sooner. I guess it took the 4 AM amnesty bill for the fugitive in Dubai to finally push things to this point. What kills me is the guy doesn't even try to hide it with statements like "she's my clone" and campaign slogans like "Thaksin thinks, PTP does" How many times has TS stated he's finished with politics? The guy has some serious ego issues.

As the poster states above, until Thaksin and his "clones" get out of politics and stay out, this will just be one continuous series of violent protests, invalid elections, and military coups. At the end of the day, the Thai people are the ones who are getting screwed.

Thaksin Thaksin Thaksin its like a broken record. If he died tomorrow for the next 100 years the Thaksin obsessed will still blame him .Why ? well because they have to blame someone for their own failings by not being able to listen to the people & not being able to change their policies so they can become a electable party that the people feel they can trust.

The fruitcake wasn't shouting for reform when the military wormed him & is nutters into power. Now he wants reforms ,hahaha this isn't about reforms it is a power grab. He wants in there to rape the country before it needs every Baht to save the country from sinking & drowning. They know that they will never ever get into power again so they blame Mr T , its really sad that grown men be them fruitcakes or currant buns need to blame someone for them being empty-heads .

I know one thing & that is I want to be in the north when the country splits

  11. Still, while unpalatable to see, better than cheering the murder of pdrc members in grenade and gun attacks, hey?

Also not good to see all them paid for protesters (all50 of them) camped in Lump-em-in-the-river Park) is it .I mean they could get kidnapped & lumped in the river after they have been tortured of coursesmile.png Oh I forgot their not the sort for that to happen to are they smile.png

  12. Fact

The Thai people did note Vote Yingluck in at the Thai PM

They voted in their local area MP

These MP then voted for Yingluck to represent them as a Figurehead

If at any time these same MP's decide they want to change the PM, this is totally democratic

If at any time the numbers of MP's in the government become less that the opposition

The the opposition MP's have the majority of votes and can vote in their own PM

This is the democratic system used in Western Countries

I wish many posters on TVF and the crazy Red Shirts would get this into their heads

The people vote the MPs in to represent them in Government matters which inclueds selection of PM so voted in by the people through their reps biggrin.png

  13. What's democracy? Not what PT were doing.

Previous poster said pitchforks beat bayonets every time.

History shows the truth of the Marxist theory, when people are disenfranchised to an extent where the elite are very removed from the normal populace then there will be uprising.

strange that you rant but dont understand what democracy is. ITS ABOUT VOTING IN OR OUT simple really .

the previous poster as you put it is right.

  14. If he want talk, Abhisit must pressure Suthep to go to negotiation table......

Abisit is pulling the strings & he knows that his UNDEMOCRATIC PARTY has made a right Co*kup of all this & now have lost the backing of what few people that used to vote for them. Yes even the Dem voters hate Suthep & his kiddnapping mafia so called guards.

The Lump-em -in - the - river Park mob. As to talks , what about ? That movie that Suthep seen THE 300 which are the FB friends that Suthep has mentioned . Yes a 400 committee where the Fruitcake gets 300 seats . Even though he has no support.so why talk to him he is nobody & a criminal ,yes criminal that word that gets chucked about here every day to the bordom of the majority.

Anyway its about time he turned up to face the new charges against him isn't it. While the party that the people want stay in power for ever at this rate . The yellows ball's up last time when they was plotting with the military to hold on to power forever once they was put in power. They gave people just one opyion on a new constitution & that was their way or no way. The people voted for it because they didn't want to be oppressed by the serial killers in the army . Hand picked for all the committees Judges to maintain Yellow power but the people didn't forget did they & they wont forgive the UNDEMOCRATIC Party for their murderous crimes against them.

Im not very good at predictions but my money is that there is going to be civil war here & it will seem like the insurrections in the south will be nothing when compared with what will happen North vs South

  15. What a devious, lying little snake this Abhisit is! He's now trying to present himself as some kind of honest broker between PT and PDRC when we all know that he is joined at the hip with his corrupt crony, Suthep and the PDRC!

Sorry Mr Abhisit, but you share full responsibility for all Suthep's criminal activities in blocking the democratic process over the past couple of months, just as you share his responsibility for (allegedly) murdering demonstraters in 2010. You can't wiggle free.

The snake is one of the Oxbridge mob , That says it all really dosn't it. They are schooled to do murder . Serial killers of the highest order.

Those doing continuous visa runs probably cost the country more than they contribute overall as read coupla years ago foreigners were blocking up parts of the Thai health system.

This morning walking the main street in Auckland, there were several English/Irish accented asking for money: amazing to have 20 begging for money in the space of walking two blocks.

It's become a bit of a problem with those from Europe staying in backpackers/hostels, then returning to steal food, have showers etc. after they have left....they would pass unnoticed having free meals/getting donated food bags from charities here too.

I meet many who go to Asian countries to teach ESOL and on returning they have no job or little or zilch savings.

However, I'm aware that many European retirees have contributed with initiatives and are putting money into the economy and contributing towards the Thai community in lots of ways. But they wouldn't be those doing sneaky visa runs and not working legally.

    I

I dont do sneaky visa runs as you put it .Having said that can I ask what is a sneaky visa run ?

People go to the border get a stamp in their passport what is sneaky about that ? As to working well thats up to them & if they get caught working then they will be kicked out . Although it is only by an accident of birth that they are breaking the law if working.

All these mega rich farangs wanting all these people kicked out . Lets face it if the posters on here really was up in the HISO range they wouldn't even see these people.

Anyway another day & I just love dosing around . I will like it even more while I think about the nice people at work conning people into buying timeshares . Then claiming a border runner is scum & not wanted. Land of scams . Be lucky you border runners

The rant against the rich farangs and the timeshare stuff is getting a little old. Try something new.

I think the problem you're having with this thread is you seem to be unable to distinguish the statement of facts with people passing judgement. I could care less if you have abused the tourist visa system. I've done it before. I don't even care if you work. Doesn't bother me or even concern me in the slightest.

But, I don't feel sorry for you or anyone else who has abused the tourist visa. Just like I don't feel sorry when I see someone getting pulled over for a speeding ticket (even if I was speeding too). You exit my conscious thoughts before I get to the next offramp. I don't look down on you because I assume you're adult and you can make adult decisions and deal with adult consequences of those decisions.

I may think getting caught sucks but just because I explain to you that the speed limit is 100kph, doesn't mean that I'm looking down on you or think that I'm better than you. It simply means, the speed limit is 100kph and the police have done nothing wrong in issuing you a ticket.

Now, the fact of the matter is that you've chosen to live in Thailand and you have to live by their rules. If you don't like their rules, you're free to leave. As much as your personal beliefs dictate that you are a citizen of the world and should be able to live where you want and do what you want, in the real world, there are rules.

Oh dear you seem to do alot of selecting when you post

1 where do I say that I that I work ? I have clearly stated that IDONT WORK DONT BELIEVE IN ME WORKING & I LOVE DOSING AROUND. I also dont have to work.

Now why are you trying to make out that the people (YES REAL PEOPLE) that do border runs are complaining about the rules ? When in fact it is the ones with GOOD JOBS that seem to have the problem with the people that just obey the rules & do it by not doing lowlife stuff like conning tourist like selling timeshare con packages to the less wise.

Now the fact of the matter is that YOU have to work to stay in Thailand & I don't . You hate the fact that while you compeat with the neighbours to have the shinniest car & the best curtains to twitch .Their are people who seem to be doing nothing & having a much better life than you .

I find the people that you complain about & are trying to lable me as ,real human beings not cardboard cut outs.

It is you that have put yourself in the straight jacket NOT them. You wanna be HISO so much that you ruin your life trying to get their & get off on trying to run people down because that sort of makes you think you are better when deep down youknow your not.

Now just because I have afew quid it dont make me better than you or anybody else. Yes money dont make me better but you think the opposite . The mere fact that you came on this thread with your only motive to support anything that makes it hard for others (NOT YOU) because that would be so wrong wouldn't it.

It stands out that you hate having to work especially when others don't. You also think that if you can,t live the dream nobody should.

Now you say you dont look down on me . Why? I have loads of money yet choose to live in Thailand on tourist visa's , The fact that you say that is that really you do because you have it in your head that timeshare con men in suits are ok .

principles principles principles hahaha have you ever met a con man doing border runs ? You already have said that you have bent & broken visa rules yet still you look down on the none complaining border runners

  17.

Interesting to see all these attempts at a "judicial coup" unfold.

This is what Suthep and his handlers are waiting for, while hunkered down in Lumpini......They have passed the baton to their buddies in the judiciary.

Here, yawn, yawn...is another peel to this unfolding onion.

The electoral majority is on to this Elitist, anti-democratic game, and watching....watching....... preparing.....preparing.

There was a media hiccup in this headline however.....Where was the "caretaker" thing they have inserted at every opportunity....I don't recall ever seeing that in the media of other Electoral democracies, between when a Govt. calls an election and the election itself.........Just PAD-Dem folderol.

She screwed up so if the courts bring her down, it's not a coup because prime ministers aren't above the law.

Red sympathizers are funny. I mean they really don't see it's wrong for cabinet ministers to attend a rally calling for secession? That's treason. And for the PM to do nothing about it is at best, negligent and at worst just as treasonous. So if the courts strip her of her premiership, she deserves it for this and all the other crap she's done, including the rice scam.

Dear me I feel your pain , life must be really sad if that is the best you can do . Hows things going at kidnap park you know that Lump -em-in-the-river park . If the courts remove her it will be twenty years of pain for Thailand . Sadly

  18.

    sounds like play money

Yep play money that has made many of my friends Millionaires that didn't have a pot to piss in 2 years ago

many more Millionaires will be made with Bitcoin as it becomes the way to pay online and transfer money around the world. Western Union will be history as will Paypal (although paypal is working to integrate bitcoin)

Those that dismiss it as in the guy above will be the ones kicking themselves they missed yet another boat coming in.

I invested and have made a ton of money so far

Prove it then .Come on don't be shy . We cant steal it as it isn't real . Can I see please nice rich man
