  1. Can anyone shed some light to the process and possible pitfalls of making a prenup in Thailand and/or give answers to the below questions?

By default assets before marriage are separate and everything after is common with a few exceptions, such as inheritance?

Is alimony a thing in Thai law?

What are the default rules for inheritance in case of death wrt a marital partner - how much is my partner entitled to? Can I override those rules in a prenup agreement? If that's not a possibility, can I override them in a will/testament? If so, should I legalize that will in Thailand, my home country or both?

  2. Hi

I arrived back in my home country yesterday from Thailand and planning to go back in two weeks again. I have 3 back-to-back METVs in my passport and will be applying for a fourth. Granted I get another METV, I'm uncertain if I should just get a flight to Subvarnabhumi or get a connecting one to a neighbouring country to cross back in via land-border. I've heard stories of people being denied and send back where they came from in Subvarnabhumi, even though they came with a valid visa.
    Thoughts?

  3. Hey

I am trying to plan a trip to Paris with my GF. She is Thai and I am Danish. She's traveling there from Thailand and I'm traveling from Denmark. She works for Cathay Airways and wants to go there for a recruitment day event for Emirates Airlines. Our stay there is less than a week after which she will return to Thailand.

So my question is can I be her host as an EU citizen but from a different country than she's going to? Or should she apply as traveling alone?

  4. Thank you all for the advice, I appreciate it.
However, I was mainly looking for advice on where to obtain information for things such as tax, specific legislation for serving food and beverages, employee payment/contracts, rent in diferent locations etc. Not so much whether you think it's possible to be successful (though that's also appreciated)

  5. Hi,

I have been thinking about the possibilty of openeong up a sandwich shop in bkk for some time and thought now is the time to do some actual research as to what it takes to start up and run a small business like that.

I am looking for information on salary. How much should I expect to pay a full time worker and how many hours a week is a full time job? How about part time workers, is it possible to pay some of the staff by the hour and not commit to giving them any minimum of work hours?
How about accounting? What should I expect the cost to be on a yearly basis?

Are there any specific legislation I need to be aware of when running a shop that serves food - ie. Hygiene, licenses, taxes?

As to my knowledge so far company tax in Thailand is a flat 30% - can I count on that?

Lastly I'm looking to obtain info on rent in different locations. I'm specifically interested in malls that have a big foreign clientel. Any suggestions on how to obtain that information?

Any advice will be much welcomed. Also links and references to where I can obtain some of the above information.

    Thanks :)

  6. Hi,

I am about to start engineering school in a few weeks and I am curious to know what my chances are of possibly working in Thailand one day with my degree.
I still have a few days to decide if I wanna study health technology or export technology - 3,5 and 4 year bachelors including 6 months internship.
I am curious to know which field of engineering has the higher chance for a foreigner to find a job in Thailand. I came across www.jobtopgun.com, when googling around a little bit and it seems there is pretty high demand for engineers. Does anybody know about this site? Or the job market for foreign engineers in Thailand in general?
Any info and inputs will be much appreciated :)

  7. So I plan to go tomorrow. Was planning on taking the bts to phothinimit and then taxi to major hollywood - does anyone know if that should be a problem? - I heard that ploen chit and chit lom stations are shut down but I suppose trains will just run through without stopping? Also, the immigration offices aren't affected by the coup, right?

  8. My two months tourist visa will expire on May 26th and I just wanna know if I am correct in that I can get the 30 day extension at the immigration office (as opposed to having to cross the border)?
Also, which office should I go to? It seems there are a few to choose from but some are still closed down due to protests? I am staying in Huay Kwang/Rama 9 area.

    Thanks in advance

  9. Hi,

I am looking to escape bkk for Songkhran with my gf. I would like to go no further than Hua Hin and I am looking find a place near the beach within the prize range of 1,500 Baht. Does anyone have any recommendations? Also, I wanna leave Saturday returning Monday - will it be an issue to get a taxi? And will traffic be an issue?

    Thanks in Advance,

    Andreas

  10. I am sure there is info on this somwhere but I have been looking for about an hour with no luck.

I am a Danish citizen here in bkk and my exemt stamp will run out on Friday and I am looking to stay here another 2-3 months. I meant to book a trip to Vientiane with one of the visa run companies tomorrow, but called up the Thai Consulate in Denmark and they told me to go to the immigration office here in bkk before anything else, and see what they can do for me. So my question is:

Is it possible to apply for a tourist visa at an immigration office? If so, which one should I go to?

  11. Hi,

I am here in bkk and my visa exempt stamp will expire on Fri, March 28th. I wanna stay here 2-3 more months and have been looking into doing a vise-run to Vientiane for a double or single entry visa (and then hopefully get a 30 day extentsion on that). However, I would really love to avoid the hassle of a 3-day-trip to Laos. When I was here last year, I found a visa service company that helped me extend my stay with 3 months after my double-entry visa had expired. They took care of everything. Picked up passport at my hotel and returned it with a valid 3 months stamp (2 days later i belive). I have been searching but I can't seem to find that company or any alike. Does anyone know of any companies providing such services?
