sugar would definitely be the number one cause. The vehicle for the delivery of that is the ease of consumption of it in all the processed foods and drinks thru convenience stores now.
Of course, lethargy or lack of exercise is number two. You can fight thru bad diet if you are a physical labor machine (see Michael Phelps diet when he was competing). 12,000 calories and a huge amount of carbs while at it.
For breakfast, this is what he ate:
- 3 fried egg sandwiches with tomatoes, fried onions, mayo, lettuce, and cheese
- One five egg omelet
- One bowl of grits
- 3 slices of French toast dusted with powdered sugar
- 3 chocolate chip pancakes
- 2 cups of coffee
It seems that his intention was to start the day off really well. For lunch, he took it a little easier:
- A pound of enriched pasta
- Two large ham-and-cheese sandwiches with mayo on white bread
- 1,000 calories of energy drinks
For dinner, he had perhaps his lightest meal of the day:
- Another pound of pasta
- One 8-inch pizza
- Several energy drinks
Sugar and grains are pretty much the quickest way to add kilos/pounds, and yes, not moving much speeds up the weight gain...!
I left Thailand in 2016, after living there for 3.5 years, I saw quite a lot of obese kids, and I saw what they ate (my wife's little shop was less then 100M from the school in her village)... sugar is definitely a huge (pun intended) problem in Thailand now...! ????- 1

If you can't defend yourself, your family or your property, without fear of prosecution, then humanity will continue to fail, and the criminals will ALWAYS win...!!!
If criminals continue to get away with committing crimes, then obviously they will continue committing crimes....!!!
If punishment is swift and very severe, then only the stupidest criminals will continue to commit crimes, and if they continue committing crimes and get caught, then locking them up for a very long time will solve many problems...!
If this criminal gets beat up for breaking the law, and if he didn't go to hospital quick enough after being beaten up while committing a crime, AND if he refused to be fed through a tube to help save his life, then HE is responsible for his own death...!!!- 6

Yep, if they make the choice to drive while drunk, then they chose ALL of the possible consequences associated with driving while drunk, so killing someone while deliberately choosing to drive while drunk is effectively murder...!!!

personally I would make an example of him ,he needs to do time in
jail , not 6 months or a year , minimum 5 years , until the authorities
start taking DUI more seriously , more people are going to die needlessly .
regards Worgeordie
I agree, even 5 years in is jail isn't really enough, but at least it would be a step in the right direction...!
I was hit by a drunk driver in Australia in 1972, and I have been in debilitating pain since that night... 50 years of suffering, not having much enjoyment in life, not being able to do much physical activity at all, just because a man thought that he was a hero for being able to drive home drunk...!!! ????- 5

Hi lopburi3,
Thanks, but I am very new here and all I get when I click on the first post is a pic.
But never mind, I don't want to annoy anybody by asking a lot of questions :)

I have spent 2 years in Thailand being the only farang in the small village.... it is nice mostly, but very lonely at times, even though I am married to a wonderful Thai woman, I am still the odd one out and am often left out of many things because (mostly) I don't drink or gamble or screw around, so I have absolutely nothing in common with Thai men and Thai women don't seem to want a man hanging around while they natter on...!
My wife does attend to me regularly, but occasionally her family take precedence over me... and that's fine... I just have very few people who I can sit and have a good old D&M conversation with...!

OP, I love being the only farang in the village.
Feel like a novelty here, wais all over, smiles from everybody.
My only problem is, can't approach the sexy girls, as everybody knows the farang and will immediately go to my wife.
But I'm working on that.......there are other villages around.........
make a choice man.... if you love your wife, then stop looking elsewhere... if you don't love her, then set her free so that a good man can love her... stop being greedy...!!! :-(

I am a 54yo Australian man who has observed the gradual rise in rudeness in Australian people (in general), I have lived in Thailand now for 17 months (I moved here 6 weeks after a 1 month holiday) on the fourth day of my one month holiday to Thailand, I decided that Thailand was the place for me to live.... the people are so friendly and so giving (even if they have very little to give). I married a wonderful 35yo Thai woman who has been a God Send to me...!
At this stage of my life, I plan to call Thailand my home for a very long time...! -
We probably need a bit more information.
Do you have a Thai Bank Account?
What sort of sums are we considering?
The reason being is that I have a great company that does exchanges, 1 baht spread, but charges a $25 fee, regardless of $1 or $1,000.
The Australian banks do, but their exchange rate is close to highway robbery.
Hi David, I would like so info from you please.
I am and Aussie who has been living in Thailand with my wife now for 16 months.
I have someone who wants to send me money ($5000) and would like to receive most of it and not give a lot to the foriegn exchanger...!
You say that the people that you use have a 1 baht spread, that sounds a lot better than all of the others I have seen...!
Could you please give me some info?
I have no idea if you can PM on this site (Just joined) or if I need to add my email address for answers... please advise.
Cheers,
Mike,
Top right of screen, picture of an open envelope, click on it , click on compose new..........
Thank you Transam :-)))

I was hit from behind by a drunk driver driving a Commer Van in 1971, and have been suffering constant pain and hardship ever since, my daily struggle to survive has always been worsened by the constant pain, which greatly restricts what I can do at any given moment... The consequences of selfish and inconsiderate drunk drivers on innocent people's lives is usually only ever suffered by their victims. 😞
Not only are innocent lives lost by drunk drivers, many innocent victims suffer for the rest of their lives, and like me, have never been able to live a normal life... pain dictates EVERYTHING in my life, and has done now for 53 years...! 😞
It's NOT FAIR that innocent people suffer the consequences of selfish and inconsiderate drunk drivers...!!!! 😞
So although many of you will disagree with me on this, I believe that drunk drivers should be put in prison for this very selfish crime....
And repeat offenders who have absolutely no regard for other people's safety should never be released...!
