You may be able to have them reverse the cancelation.

Immigration here would not know it was canceled unless they checked to see if it had been canceled.

Tried to do that they said no. So I guess unless there is an amnesty covering those who missed the last one im on overstay

The amnesty was backdated to the 27th of September so you still on it now.

Have you done a police report yet?

All you need is your passport to apply for an extension while waiting for you new passport but there's no rush to do it now since you are now on the amnesty until the 31st.

Ok I was worrying  my overstay would start on the 27th. The Bangkok post said that it was only for people who got a stamp before the 27th. Which as I said I did not get. That would be an 8 week overstay.

    Thanks for the advice

You could still do an extension at immigration since it has not been stamped as canceled. Only international travel would be a problem.

You are under the new amnesty that started on the September 27th and allows you to stay to October 31st.

So even if my visa which expired in June and I missed the amnesty on the 27th I’m on a new amnesty now?

if I go with my canceled passport, police report and appoint to apply for a new passport will I be able to get an extension?

  3. I’ll keep it simple I stupidly lost my passport. And tried to find it but couldn’t. So, I canceled it. It will take 8 weeks to replace. It was returned to me by someone in my local area who recognized me and knew where I lived.

So was on the first amnesty but missed the dead line. I’m I covered by the second amnesty and if I go to immigration will the put a stamp in a canceled passport?

    Thanks in advance

  4. I used a debit card from Kasikorn to set up an online virtual shopping card. The payment was accepted no problem The only problem was setting it up Kasikorn in my experience of dealing with them on this and other matters are staffed by lazy incompetent fools.

SCB have told me that I can use my card in a similar way. You might want to email their customer service center they will send you a link to the page to sent everything up.

  5. When I applied one and a half years ago they would not except Thai issued debit cards. Not sure if it's changed. I activated my Kasikorn card as a virtual credit card. As I mentioned on a previous thread it wasn't easy. On the the same thread I mentioned I used my SCB card as a virtual credit card for an online purchase.

Basically you can pay with a debit card, but Thai debit cards are not issued ready for oline use, you just need to set it up as a virtual credit card- one time code to activate, set limit on the amount of credit and I think time period it will be used. SCB were really helpful answered an email quickly followed up after I used it to check no fraud involved.

Get ready for fun at Trendy place- the staff member I dealt with her English wasn't great, had to talk in Thai to explain simple points- ten years worth of Thai non-o visa show I live here, she wanted me to go to the embassy and get a letter of residence, stood firm she excepted the application and said, "Problem you, you no get passport."

  6. Savanaket is truly one of the most boring places to go for a visa. The food is even worse than in Thailand and that's saying something.

There is a supermarket however. Just down from the Thai consulate is an empty shopping mall and next to it is a smaller mostly empty building with a supermarket. No fresh produce just imported dried noodles, tinned food, snacks, etc from Thailand.

  7. Hello,

I just wonder if any of you still let any Thai waste food as an habit ?

I do not talk about someone not feeling well one time and not finishing his dish.

I am talking about Thai ALWAYS ordering more than they can eat and ALWAYS wasting dishes at restaurant.

This is not acceptable and nobody eating with me is allowed to do it, because I am the one who control what they order anyway.

But I wonder if for some other foreigners in Thailand it is acceptable ?

I also often see Thai going to restaurant, ordering 1 dish, eating 3 spoons and leaving, so why did they go to the restaurant ?

Is it because of the Thai way of not being able to plan anything in their life ? Even a dinner ? Are they really unable to know how much hungry they are and if it is time to go to eat ? Really want to slap them when I see them doing it...

Any idea to help be to understand what some might call cultural difference but that I call stupidity ?

And before anybody tries to explain me that when someone let some food in a dish it means that he is happy and not hungry anymore (full), I know about this, but when this person is eating alone and only eat 3 spoons, what is the reason to order food that he doesn't eat ?

Thai food is cr-p. Two or three spoons is enough.
  8. As my mother used to say!! there are people with brains, and some people without.!!

I am not that harsh and feel some pity for those who hit the wrong day.

    It's indeed quite a mess.

This Royal Ploughing Ceremony (May 9) is an absolute no event anywhere out of Bangkok and has no effect on ordinary peoples daily life. But good enough for a government holiday.

And today is a present of Mr. P. to his loyal subordinates tongue.png

I went to Savannakhet after Songkran and the consulate gave themselves an extra holiday for Laos new year
  9. Vientanine is more interesting than Savanaket. The consulate in Vientiane is full of visa run company clients and queues can be long. In Savanaket it's locals getting their Thai visa and they seem not to understand the concept of a queue. So get there early at both places.

Also the number they give you in savanakhet to collect your passport is not a queue number so get there early the next day to collect your passport.

  10. Hi,

Looked around on the forum found different answers, So, a quick question.

I have a double entry tourist visa it finishes in a week (meaning both entries have been used). I was going to get another 30 days at immigration, but a fellow expat told me because I'm married I can get 60 days.

So, he said original and copies of the marriage certificate, something I forget the name of in Thai, but it's that white double-sided paper with all the info and copies of the wife's blue book and ID, signed, no originals needed.

The question I have is does my wife have to come with me? (She needs to arrange time of work) I saw some answers saying yes, some no.

I'm in Bangkok and the marriage was registered here.

Sorry if the info is already here, searching from my phone.
