  1. From the heading you understand what I am looking for. I currently live in Bangsaen Beach, Chon Bari. I and the wife and our small dog (Shitsu) are planning a trip to your fair city. We are contipateing a move. Can someone please tell me about hotels that will take a small dog 6 pounds.

  2. Hi people, I need some help from you pro's out there. On Dec 24th I ordered a new car from a local dealer here in Chon Bari. Before I made this move. I did a lot of research on this forum and other forums to make sure I could buy a new car in my own name. I learned that if I put 50% down the car could be in my name. I am expecting to get delivery late March 2013.

The finance company just called and told my girl that she would have to guarantee me. Can someone explain this to me. I am the bread winner in this household. Not my girlfriend. My girlfriend is a home make. She dose not have a job outside of the home

Have I been misinformed about getting the car in my name? I know about the guarantee thing when comes to land. Is the finance company trying to put one over on me, or what?

If any of you know of a place on the internet where I can find the rules/law about owning a car in Thailand please direct me.

  3. Hi People, As you know there are not that many English speaking channels on Thai cable/satellite/etc.

I mean other than sports. In order to get a lot of English channels it is going to cost a bunch of Baht.

I was thinking about NetFlicks but it is not available in Thailand. Has anyone found a service like NF here in Thailand?

  4. OK people, I have read all the post on this subject. It sound like speculation to me. Can any of you, provide a Thai Government web site that states in black and white. That a non-thai can register a new car in his name. I am the kind of guy that wants to make a copy of the rules (off the Gov web site) in my hand, before I go to a dealership. So if they try and put my old lady's name instead of mine on the title. I can stop that from happening.

  5. Welcome to the USA propaganda drug machine. Children must conform and not step out of the box. I sure hope that the Thai Government dose not or will not sign up to this belief. That all these kids must be put on drugs to suppress there action. Look how well that worked in the US. The children in the US are dumber because of all the drugs the schools tell them they must take. Instead of running schools like prison camps. My be the kids should spend a couple hours a day at play, out side in the open air. By doing this the kids have a chance to burn off some emerge. Why would any Government want to take away what comes natural in childhood?

  6. Hay guts, i am a old <deleted> that is retired in Thailand. I just bought my old lady a new F1 Honda. For some reason my old lady is giving a hard time when i say i want to buy a bike of my own. Question number one is: Can i buy a bike in Thailand in my own name? I have owned 5 Honda's over my life. My last one was a Honda Shadow, 500cc. I loved that bike. I would not mind having another one. I am sure that i can not buy a 1986 Shadow here in Thailand. If i could, i would have to pay some big buck's. As i am 6'1." The Thai style of a motor bike dose not work with my body size. Question number two is. Do any of you know of a bike i can buy here in Thailand. That is much like the Honda i mentioned above? Please, do not give me the old bullshit about just Google it. I have lived in Thailand for 7 years. The people of Thailand do not advertise much on the internet. That is why i am coming to Expat's for info. Turn me on.

  7. I don't undrestand why the press is making a big deal out of flooding. This has been going on for thousands of years. All the Thai Government can do is study the problem and try to make the damage less. The Government is not as powerful as nature. She will always do thing that can not be anticipated. If you live in a country that is subject to monsoons, then flooding is part of the game. Live with it!

  8. After reading about a hundred post. It looks to me as a person that wants to to buy a GPS unit for my car. It is clear that no one agrees as to what the best unit is. It looks like the only way i can get a unit that works without problems. Is to spend 500 buck on an iphone. <deleted>?? Is it just me or has GPS been around for WHAT? 15 years. How is it that we, the buying public can not buy a flawless mapping system. Mybe i need a contact in the CIA or NSA to get the latest unit. After all the powers to be can read my news paper from space, but we can not get a GPS that works. Is that fuc_k up or what?

  9. Hopefully, the Israeli and US embassies are getting intolerant of Thai mendacity, complacency, and coverups in their announcements regarding serious situations. It was the Israeli Mossad, supposedly the most proficient and respected intelligence organization in the world, that initially warned the Thais of a planned attack in the making on December 22 now indicated to be as early as the 8th. Probably after repeated cautions and warnings by the Israelis and the US without a diligent Thai security response, the Israelis and the US agreed that an announcement would perhaps motivate the Thais to take some action.

Why would a Thai official, as quoted in the article, "reprimand" the US for announcing that Bangkok specifically was potentially a terrorist target, when it was the Israelis who notified the Thais originally and then teamed with the US on security? Why would this same Thai official refer to Bangkok as a "soft target in intelligence jargon," when everyone knows that a "soft target" refers to a vulnerable , undefended target likely to have people? It was as if the Thai official wasn't aware of the real meaning of "soft target" and was hoping that people would infer that his remark denoted something along the lines of "not high profile." His comments were preposterous.

The US and the Israelis obviously know, as do other nations, that Thailand is lax on security, a very suspect high risk country and region, and fertile for terrorist infiltration and activity whether planning or action. just look at the airport closing, the south of Thailand, and the flood security of its own citizens and residents. Thai corrupt immigration and police and social structure, as well as lack of regulation and adherence to law give rise to all sorts of potential underground, dark, and potentially terrorist activities. It's great that the US took the step forward to announce the threat and alert in the interest of its citizens and citizens of other nations residing and traveling to and in Thailand. Hopefully other nations will follow 'the right thing to do" and begin demanding, by similar announcements, that Thailand shape up and get its act together, be truthful, do the right thing, and stop shilling for its sex trade tourist business at the expense of the safety of people.

I sure hope you don't live in the land of smiles. To speak of the Thai Government as you have is distressing. Perhaps you can explain how you became such authority on Thai Government. It is hard for me to believe that anyone in this day and age would or could believe the Mos sad or the US is here to help. Go ahead and tell us how much the CIA or the Mas sad is helping the world. You might also mention how you would have handled 2/3 Thailand being flooded.

  10. Hi People, I to am looking for a replacement computer chair. I don't have 20-50k to spend. I am sure there must be some one that buys used office furniture and then resells it. I need help with who, and were are they located.

  11. Haacker, This pond (TV) is inhabited by mud suckers, minnows, crawdads, tadpoles, larvae, pirranahs, and sharks and your dignity is not a concern of any of them.

However, if you are looking for a/c units you will pay about 2 baht per btu. If you want to save electricity then look at Daikin with the inverter. Cost more but from our experience the consumption is lower, hence cheaper (maybe close to 30%??).

Nooo...we have no connection to the company nor do we recommend the shop we bought from...unless you would like some practice in maintaining dignity while dealing with a Shanghai bit_h. :annoyed:

    Cheers. M/n/s.

I had to be leave that there are a few good people here on this forum that want to help other expats. Thank you very much for your input. I just wish others would contribute. Its all about serving here.

  12. I have never see a post so littered with spelling mistakes and other such rubbish.

Everyone needs to ask them selfs is it my spelling or is it this guys plan to make a problem. He likes to start shit. He is a hater. That is his job. He spends his time going from fouum to forum taking the other side. he get his kicks when someone dose not go along with his ideas.I that what why we are here? We come here to see how expats get along in Thailand. It's not about if I can spell. But to this guy its all about how can I make people take my side. He want to play!!!!! Taking shit about can I spell is his way to get things going. When he wants to do a test on IQ, step up. I am only 60 years old, but I can assure you I am no dummy, dude!!!!!! 14. What's wrong with walking around a store? Probably get some better deals on things that way. Plus a bit of exorcise.

For most it seems. That is how its done here in Thailand. As for me I do not speak or read Thai. Doing a walkabout dose not help me with information about a product or a service. There are some here on the forum that think it foolish to research a product before you buy it.

  15. x 3 in regards to the spelling ...

But besides that, any site that has recommendations, experiences, etc is bound to get hijacked by competitors or people with a gripe against a particular store.

I have reread my post 3 more times. I just don't see all the misspelled words. Yes I have spell checker. Yes there might be some people that might try to manipulate the info. And yes some people might have a cross to bear against a department store. If 3-5 people have a bad experience at a store. That might be info I would like to have before I get off my ass, and go shopping.

  16. Ooooooh Haacker I wouldn’t stand for that! Them there’s fighting word!!!

Let me start you off: 7/11, main roads, 107, north bound, Mai Rim……..Mini Kit Kat bars………Wait for it, two for the price of one, (they are actually melted together) and the clerk was very do’ able, but I did feel like a bit of a perv as she was quite young….And my miss’s was with me…..but worth a look. Oh and the cheese and ham tosties are the mutt’s nuts……..That sort of thing?

Now thats what I am taking about!!!! Thanks alot. Yes, I get the joke.

  17. Would'nt be great to have a place you could go when you need a new aircon unit.
    ?

Aircons all over the place, just bring your own knowledge !

I think you miss my point. It was not just about aircon. Its about getting info from expats that have been there and done that. Buying stuff

  18. Hi Gang, I think Thaivisa should open a new category in this forum. Hence the title of this post. I have only lived here for a couple of year now. I just moved from a furnished one room apartment to a two story two bedroom two bath house. As a result of the move I need almost everything. I have spent many many hours on the Internet looking for info on stuff for the house. If your not Thai. then shopping starts to be a nightmare. The major stores here have not heard yet that 40% of American will do there Holiday shopping on line. As a result there is little info on there web sites that can help the consumer make a chose. With that in mind. We could put are good and bad shopping experiences here for all to learn from. Also recommendation on stores you like. Or the clerk you just meet, that has received training in the big ticket idem he is trying to sell you. Were the good deals are. Most Thai think that falungs have buckets of money. Weather we do or don't is not relevant. Know one I know likes to spend more then they have to for stuff. I have only one bucket of money. So I need to watch that bucket closely. Would'nt be great to have a place you could go when you need a new aircon unit. And know the info you get is right on the money. Based on someones personnel experience. This will not only help us. It will help the department stores as well. Once they see that the people that are trained about the producks they sell, sell more. Then the training will start in earnest. Give Thaivisa some feed back on my idea.

  19. Hi Gang, I went to Power Buy service center and bought a WH-55, brend name Sharp hot water heater. On the wall type. Took it home and had a guy install it. This guy has install at least 60 hot water unit in his day. The unit would not work. I have one year training in electrics school. I checked it out myself. No power coming from the control unit. My guy took it off the wall and put it back in the box. Off I went to the store to exchange it. BUT NO!!!!!!!!!!!! Not in Thailand???????? The store POWER BUY SERVICE CENTER told me they have to send it to a Sharp service center to have it checked out. 3-7 days.If the unit dose not work Is that my problem. NO! Is it my problem that I have to pay a guy another 700bt to install yet another hot water unit. YES! Why not just give me a replacement unit (new)and let me take it home so the install guy (who was waiting for my return) could install the new one on the same dime? NO!! They have to make it as hard a possible. I was told on my return to the store with the bad unit in hand. Had I used there install teck. Cost 900bt. That he would have install the unit and made sure the unit worked. Or he would replace it with a new one that would work. Well the salesman never said a word about that. Is that my problem, NO!!! So, because a Sharp hot water heater would not work. Its going to cost me 1,400bt. Is that the way Sharp take care of customers? If so you guys need to buy another brand.

  20. He can get a double entry tourist visa in Vientiane, Laos.

This will give him two 60 day entries that each can be extended with 30 days at immigrations for 1900 baht per extension.

This will give him 180 days in Thailand.

This bring to mind a question I thought of. This has to do with people that are all ready in Thailand and have to make visa runs every two weeks. Could they not fly from here to Laos and get the 60 day visa?

  21. Hi Gang, A friend from the US. Who is currently traveling in asia. Asked me this question: Can he get a 90 day double entry tourist visa some were in asia. A couple of years ago I got one from the Thai consulate in LA. Just drop passport off in the morning and pick it up in the after noon. Can someone tell me/him if it can be done around here? Outside Thailand

  22. Hi gang, I just moved from Bangkok. I check the forum archives on this subject. All dated back a couple of years ago. I need to know were I can go and have a couple of drinks and speak some english. Bangsaen is about 98% Thai. Once in a wile I like to be with some one that looks like me. And speaks USA

  23. God damm it....those pesky interfering Americans are at it again....what a field day the US knockers are going to have....

Hay Stan, come on the word knockers gives you away. a Brit!!! What, no help from your country??????? Cheep carleys HaHa.I am from the USA. I think the US gave cumpchange. $50,000 buck. PLEASE!! Yes that will help. It is not enough. It just kills me to see the US dump money into the sand, rather then put it in the rice bowl of southeast Asia. How about 50 million to start????????
