  1. If you're using Melatonin to sleep, recent studies suggest it only helps if you pituitary gland is not producing enough naturally.

But if you feel Melatonin helps you, then it's probably OK to keep taking it.

    Thanks Wrong-Turn. Interesting.

Am sure my pituitary is fine as I generally sleep well, but the melatonin definitely helps me sleep longer and deeper, with really, really intense dreams. I take it more for fun than out of necessity. First few nights on it there was a very noticeable waking dream state, but after a few nights it just seemed to assist sleep. The Melatonin Plus product also contains some L-Theanine which may also be contributing to the effects.

Always enjoy dabbling with meds in moderation, human psychopharmacology is a fascinating thing.

  2. ...specifically their melatonin supplements: melatonin-plus, knock-out, etc.

I can answer my own question, in case some future person searches for this topic.

    The answer is MBK!

  3. So, it looks like Bangkok Pizza is going out of business???? (http://bangkok.craigslist.org/bfs/428011431.html)

Too bad, still haven't managed to get over there as it just very inconveniently located for me. The Spicchios at Mor Chit skytrain still has the best location anywhere. I never get further east than Asoke.

Anyway, how much longer do I have to make the trek up to Emporium to try this?

gregb- they have a second branch on phetburi. their main business is delivery, i think they intend to close their eat-in places but continue as a delivery service. perhaps.

  4. I feel ######ing sick coz I've been eating ONLY pizza for the last ten days, but after this deliciously nasty research I can confirm that Bangkok Pizza is by far the best pizza in bangkok especially as they deliver until like 3am or something.

But no more pizza for me.

  5. I have so many books that I'll never read again. Where is the best second-hand book store to sell these to? In other words which store pays best?

    Preferably Sukhumvit area.

    Thanks.

  6. Thanks Sunbelt.

I have three condos here, but only one was bought from the developer, but it was bought for over three million Baht.

You say that I "can get an extension of stay based on my investment" but what does this mean? What type of visa does this entitle me to? And where does one arrange this? Can I do this now, here in BKK?

I will be in California soon, where I intend to grab a sixty day tourist visa, taking a weekend visa-run break once this expires, and then at Xmas will visit London where I was going to apply for a NON-B. But, how exactly can I use this condo ownership to my advantage?

  7. There is nothing of this new regulation on Thai Immigration's website:

    http://www.immigration.go.th/nov2004/base....;section=notice

Have heard of plans to do this for years now. I don't think it will actually make much difference. Instead of doing a one-day border run, you take a three day holiday, as you've officially left (as opposed to leaving for an hour which they won't count as having left for this situation) then the clock starts again. Right?

Also, how does owning property here help? I own three condominiums, with a total value of over ten million Baht, my NON-B expired four months ago and I've been doing day-runs since, I've been told (but only ever by drunks) that this property ownership gives me special visa rights?

    Anyone?

  8. Are folks from Eastern Europe welcome?
Actually, Eastern Europeans are welcome to join but are not permitted entry into the clubhouse, nor can they be seen in the bar on a Thursday.

British members are entitled to full club access, other zones such as "the cage" and the area behind the chemical sheds are reserved for Eastern Europeans and others of that ilk.

These traditions date back to the old Hillpig-Smythe rules from late in the 19th century and cannot be changed without much ado.

  9. I have to agree with Polecat. He's summed up the place to a tee.

It would be a shame for somewhere with such history to fade away, but the attitute of many members there over the years has led to this. I think the Thai phrase is "som nam nah".

What Gymkhana now reap is what they once sowed.

  10. Gonna spend a little time in Phuket and want a very sexy hotel, in a great location, with a great pool and, of course, with no joiner-fees.

Ideally within walking distance to the main nightlife, the price isn't too important.

Otherwise a private villa, with pool, and 3+ bedrooms.

  11. Where in BKK can I purchase good quality king-size smoking papers?

Not Rizla (except the Silver ones), but brands like Smoking, or OCB (the black pack, not the standard). You know the sort, as thin as possible, and nice and large.

    Anyone?
