  1. Asking the counter staff about the new office or the bar code system is indeed pointless, but I don't think it's the same thing as asking them about what you did wrong when inputting your 90-day report on-line that caused you to receive a message that said "contact your local immigration office"

I think next time, if I receive this message, I will be more assertive, in a polite fashion, of course. I've found that sometimes works. After all, the computer screen said to "contact the local immigration office" that's what I came to do, so if the three fellows who scratched their heads over why my form wasn't accepted don't know what was the problem, who does? I have time. I can wait. Could I please see the person who would know what the problem is? Perhaps someone who would look up my record in their computer?

After all, what's the worst that could happen? I guess I could sit in the Immigration office waiting all day for someone who doesn't exist.

I went to Jomtien immigration to do my 90 day report as i was rejected and asked why i was rejected. They have not got a clue or cannot be bothered.

I asked if they could tell me my flight No as i did not know this so i left it blank they said they did not know this or could not be bothered to look it up for me, they said it is on my boarding card which i don't think anyone keeps after there flight. Final result they told me to phone up the airport to find out.

I was told that it is on my arrival card underneath the bar code, but when i entered Thailand i did not fill that bit in.So i guess it's my fault.

    I don't know it , they don't know it !!!

  2. OP, I've travelled many times with NCA in the past and I never had any misfortunes.

I'm sorry to hear what happened to you and your wife, but you should file a complaint with NCA.

I do think they take matters seriously and may be they can control or change their sandwich supplier, so no other person suffers the same.

Sorry for the editing OP, but I just thought of it.

Did you notice the other 30 or 40 passengers on the bus using the toilet as you and your wife?

If not, could it be something you ate earlier, before you go on the bus?

Complaint already in with NCA Costas. I didn't see any other Thais on the bus with a problem, but as I say, wifeys probs started many hours later. Maybe the Thai constitution? The only thing we ate in common that day was that meal. In fact I was bloody lucky no one else had a problem, 30 passengers, one toilet, would have been a brown trouser moment!

So if no one else had a problem was it only you and your wife that ate that food on the bus ?

  3. There are plenty of Ferrys from BanPae. But the speedboad operators will try to get you to go. At least 2 ferry boats to VongDuen beach. one from the Malibu Resorts (70 baht) and one from Vong Duen Resort (70 baht). You will pay a 200baht fee upon arriving for the entrance into the park. Do keep your ticket.

There are several boats making the ferry run into the Somet main pier for 50baht. Generally they leave on the hour. till 5 PM or so. From the main pier, if you wan to go to a different beach, you can share a taxi for about 50baht each (plus the 200 entrance fee), If you get a private taxi, its 300 baht for the taxi, and you can split that between your and your friends. If you're alone, you have to foot the entire 300.

As always negotiate your taxi rate prior to getting in. There are no metered taxis on the island. Motorbikes are about 300/day. The park at the southern tip of the island has some great snorkeling. You can rent snorkels there at the range hut. Theres food, beer, and snacks also. but being able the rent the snorkels there is a nice feature.

Almost no nightlife except silver sands, reggae bar, and the fight bar ( i dont know what its called but it has fight ring at the north end.) and a couple of others.

Generally I found the crowded places like the north east, expensive and smelly. I wouldn't get in the water in the northeast of the island. But from Ao Nan and south, the water is fine, and gets better the more you go south.

I saw little effects of the spill from a few years back, the east side was never touched at all.

I love the walk from sai kaew beach to the southern tip. most of the time along the beach.

Stay south of Ao Nan and you'll be fine.

    Enjoy.

Last time i went was about 4 years ago. It was 200 baht entrance fee but only 20 baht for Thai.

Show Thai driving licence and pay only 20 baht.

  4. I don't still have details of my flight number even though it was only October. If I make an educated guess ( I think airlines use the same number for daily flights, although mine was indirect with jet airways via Delhi) and I was wrong would immigration have a record of the actual number and get rejected? Or any way of retrieving the information from immigration?

I do not know my flight details, just left it blank & i am through to the pending stage.
