Two people shot dead at traffic lights in our area for over zealous use of the horn! ...Seriously!
I press the horn for a fraction of a second to politely remind people that are daydreaming that I am letting them out, letting them cross etc but never ever a hand on the horn frustrated blast that is clearly a sign of rage. One day you will encounter a drunk driver or passenger that will get out the car and show you who is boss. Listen to your wife.
You described this situation:

It is you that is driving like a nut also. Why get up close behind him and flash the lights? What are you trying to achieve? Make yourself feel better for 10 seconds and then have to organize the funeral of your wife/kids because the bullet hits them or the guy in front gets rage as well, slams his brakes on and you both cause a pile up? You need to destress. Drive defensively and when people on bikes cut across in front of you and turn right at traffic lights or drive stupid/fast, just get out of their way and let them get on the inevitable journey to their own funeral but at least with out you and your family. Just actively ignore them
and only ever drive out here in a style that takes care of you and your family.

No it's not OK but you could always carry your own gun and try shooting them instead, though I don't fancy your chances much of living the dream for long without getting a long stay in an overcrowded room with bars for walls. I say again...listen to your wife ? Good luck.

It's Thailand, so car A is in the wrong. Further evidence that colonial occupation was not always a bad thing......Education, Roads, Police etc etc.

One has to wonder that the radar does not have a collision alert?
There will be big trouble for someone.
This is a very modern battle ship and sure the radar systems on the bridge would have been fitted with every tech gadget available, definitely alarms and if engaged possibly some form of collision avoidance system - tomwct can you elaborate.
But if you are earphones in listening to Dire Straits while you are playing candy crush saga, you might miss it all. (a tongue in cheek comment before anyone jumps on a soapbox and falls off ).
It does appear to be Human Error but what needs explaining is the Philippine vessels strange u-turn. I am with Gulf Sailor - Tom Clancy has the answers.

I wonder if it was iPhones/ipads on the bridge during the night shift? They were at a critical point of their route with well known well published shipping lines. Something made those on the bridge lose situational awareness and it could be so embarrassing we may never get the full story.

If they info is true about the men lost overboard I can't believe that a huge search was not initiated.

I can't see this woman ever getting out of jail. By the time the hired assassins have given evidence about how she hired them she is a goner. Welcome to a maximum security prison until you die !

Hi all, my first post so be gentle with me. I have read these pages for a long time as a guest but am now prompted to register to find out your views on the use of Carbofuran in Thai agriculture.
Me and my 4 year old love watermelon! We can quite happily sit down together and eat a whole one between us, however, I have now been informed that it is absolutely the norm in Thailand for Carbofuran to be used on watermelon, pumpkins, cucumber etc etc. So, just when I thought we were eating healthy it concerns me greatly that we are in fact being poisoned by a chemical that is banned in Europe and many other countries.
Do any of you farmers have any knowledge on this subject. Is the chemical present throughout the whole plant it is used on? In watermelons is it in the flesh, or does the chemical only reside in the skin or rind? It seems my wife knew about the issues but only thought you have a problem if you eat a lot. I said I was going to do a 3 day watermelon fast and then she and my MIL said, oh be careful you might get sick??? She was referring to the common knowledge (amongst Thais) that carbofuran was used. She had no idea the toxin is accumulative and in the worst case we could have been poisoning our child.
If anyone can provide information I would be grateful. This matter is serious enough to me to have registered. Is there a more friendly alternative to carbofuran. Thank you for any help.

All true! BUT........the fact is, it is a real phenomena and people will shoot you or beat you up no matter how stupid or ridiculous you think it is.
