I always go to Bangkok Pattaya Hospital. He uses the suction/machine and you can even watch it being done on a live camera (a little gross though).

I use สุก or สุกๆ for well done. Also I've heard มีเดียม for medium well eating out with Thai friends.

It just takes lots of practice reading Thai. You start to recognize the words in any font.

I hope something is done. I live nearby and I've complained several times to the Pattaya noise line about the Makasan Club. It doesn't even open until 11 pm and and 3am it is really jumping. Hard to sleep at that hour hearing that racket.

I've seen a booth at Chutuchuck Market that sells nothing but shoelaces, but I've forgetten which section it was in. Also, Big C sells shoelaces on the same aisle as the shoe polish.

I don't think watching Thai movies with sub tiltles is a good idea at all if you goal is to help you learn Thai. If you watch without the subtitles, you are forced to pay attention to the speakers. When the screen has subtitles it's easier just to read the translation and not pay close attention to the Thai being spoken.

This is the best, available outside of Thailand,, plus channels are in HD.

I have lived here 8 years, and I voted a 10. One of the best things I did was to go about learning to read and speak Thai, When I go back to the states, I am homesick for Thailand after a few days.

Bar girls. I like the real Thai.
If you learn to speak Thai, talking with bar girls is part of the benefits. I started by studying Becker's books on my own, and also used several other series, tryng to memorize and absorb as much as I could. I then had a private teacher guide me through the Thai readers, ending up at a sixth grade level. She had me read the readers to her and she gave me dictation, vocabulary lists to memorize from the lessons, etc. I now read Thai newspapers every day, including 3 times a week with my Thai teacher. My favorite is the Thai newspaper "Daily News". I read the articles to my teacher, discuss the articles, and look for new vocabulary that way. I also watch Thai TV nearly exclusively. It's all good, even soap operas. Just listening to Thai all day is good practice. I especially enjoy channel 5. Becoming fluent in a new language takes time. I'm starting to feel pretty confident in speaking Thai, and I'm usually understood. Whatever works, but really learning Thai takes a lot of work. Learning how to read the language for me was essential for gettting the correct pronunciation, the major problem Farangs have speaking Thai.

I learned enough to read the Thai newspaper, "Daily News" for 10 only baht, Bangkok Post is 30 baht. Isn't that a good enough reason.

Did you mean to write ศรีสะเกษ in example 15?

I thought the video made fun of Thai culture and the Thailand langugage. Totally agreed to have it removed.

I found this website that lets you view Thai TV for free online.

You sure can get lots of chances to practice your Russian, living in Pattaya. I am often asked if I speak Russian. I notice many signs all the time that are now in Russian. Even TukCom is now multilingual in their signs, Thai/English/Russian.

1. What level are you at?
Intermediate-advanced

Yes, I read the Daily News every day at Starbucks, and with a Thai teacher 3 times a wwek. ( http://www.dailynews.co.th)

about 12 years.
4. How did you learn?
Thai for Beginners and Thai for Intermediate Learners books and audio before moving to Thailand.
Moved to Thailand in 2006, since then I've had a private teacher take me to a 6th grade level. Since then, I've been using Thai newspapers with the teacher to improve my vocabulary. Thais don't ignore me when I speak Thai, they take me where I need to go. I don't see the problem.

I go the clinic every six months, nothing but praise for the clinic. I always go midweek, leave Pattaya on the 5am bus, so I arrive at the clinic early morning--they open at 7:30am. I get the results after one hour, a little shopping and lunch and I'm on the bus back to Pattaya.

I personally don't like watching Thai programs/movies with English subtitles. I find myself reverting to reading the translation and not paying close enough attention to the person speaking Thai. I do think listening to Thai on tv is very helpful in learning the language.
