This discussion about pilots not taking off or exiting the runway fast enough is utter BS. As a pilot I can tell you that as soon as takeoff clearance is received the plane moves. And everyone exits the runway at the first available taxiway. I would love to see factual statistics that back up the ridiculous statements made in this article

I would bet that Lockheed is behind this and the foreign sales folks in the Pentagon won’t sign off.

Unfortunately I believe more and more will cancel as more changes and restrictions come out. Multiple COVID tests, very few businesses open, increasing from 7 to 14 days, etc etc. and this for vaccinated and pre-travel tested tourists?? Just does not make sense to spend thousands on air travel and hotel. I have reservations but will cancel soon.

While I understand your sentiment I ask you....who do you want to engage and in what way. ANY interference from outside of Asia would be condemned in the loudest way. And no other Asian country would dare cross China and get involved. Also, I have to point out that Thousands of Rohinga men women and children were brutally murdered by the military of Myanmar and the people of Myanmar stood by and even supported the genocide. Including Aung San Suu Kyi. Where was the outrage within Myanmar. Where were the protesters? If there was ever a justification for other Asian countries to get involved it was when Myanmar was brutally exterminating the Rohinga. It did not happen then and it won’t happen now.

Everything is spelled out in Thai embassy web site.

It is asinine to think that there will EVER be a 100% foolproof way to insure communicable diseases are not introduced by tourists. BUT a 95% efficacy rate with Pfizer and Moderna vaccines as well as a pretravel negative test is about as good as you will ever get If that is not good enough for Thailand and the expats who smuggly don’t want other farang s around then so be it. Thailand will strangle their economy and their people will suffer. Not the HiSo of course but those who depend on the tourist dollar. As I always say, their country, their rules. No matter how much they don’t make sense and how much they hurt their own people.

I understand this approach only works for a second year. I have found it simpler to get a Non Imm O-A visa through thai embassy with multiple entries. It only costs $200, does not require Thai bank account and once you do it once or twice it’s quite simple. I have done this for 10 years. Only issue is running out of space in your pass port. ????

Unfortunately with or without the pipeline, the oil will move. Instead of a pipeline it will move via trucks or trains which will be more prone to accidents, derailments and environmental damage. Yes, this is politically correct and will be welcome by the Progressives in his Party but this is very short sighted

I wonder if having the Pfizer vaccine will obviate the need for Covid insurance. HAHA....just kidding...I know the answer....TIT

If you have been vaccinated AND you have tested negative within 72 hours of departure, which is still a requirement, then quarantine is superfluous and should be eliminated

I did PM you a Guideline document on how to meet the mandatory Non Imm O-A compliant health-insurance requirement. It is relatively easy and not expensive to comply with.
My point is not how to get insurance. I did that last year when I got my visa at Washington DC embassy. My question is whether I will be issued a visa even with all correct requirements met??? I don’t want to pay thousands of non refundable dollars for insurance if US citizens are being denied the OA visas as part of Thai government Covid policy

Washington DC consulate website says USA citizens not allowed to get STV. BUT the wording on their website leads one to believe you CAN apply for Non-Imm O-A visa (retirement) as long as you comply with all the normal requirements (age, income etc). BUT when you go through the online application process they ask you to upload insurance documents. My problem is I don’t want to pay for an insurance policy only to be told they won’t issue a visa! Does anyone know if getting a “retirement visa” and gettingbi to Thailand is actually possible from the USA. By the way. I know about all of the requirents regarding tests, documents, quarantines etc. thanks

It is thanks to the total ineptitude of Trump and his administration that large parts of the world.....Africa in particular .....have been delivered on a plate to the Chinese.....MAGA...what a joke!
If you think China started their expansionist policies and only engaged in vast and undisputed human rights abuses etc etc ONLY during the past 4 years of Trump then you have not been paying attention or you just want to take another swipe at Trump. China played Obama like a fiddle and most Presidents before him were not interested. But it was during Obamas 8 years that the South China Sea islands were built and became militarized and China started their Loan and construction policies with third world countries. I am not making a political comment. It is just reality. I would say that one thing that Trump did in a positive way was to shine the light of international malfeasance more directly on China. Like him or not (and I don't like him), his China policy was at least an attempt to expose them for what they are. Unfortunately, it appears human rights abuses, economic espionage, corporate blackmail and all of the other wonderful things China engages in does not seem to disturb the rest of the world except Australia.

There is no “pickle”. These women face certain execution if returned to North Korea. International law is clear in cases of this kind. They must be given sanctuary in Thailand or another country willing to take them

I have made multiple flight reservations in February and March in hopes I can get a retirement visa from Washington DC consulate. Does anyone have solid information regarding “semi-commercial” flights. Are all Cathay Pacific flight to BKK acceptable? Sorry. This is confusing to me

Every year I go through the not so easy process of obtaining an O-A (retirement visa) and spend many months in Thailand. Alternating between my home in USA and condo in Chiang Mai. Even adding the cost and difficulty of obtaining required health insurance from a Thai company did not deter me last year. Thailand is a country I love. A country where I have amazing friends (Thai and Farang) and a country I will miss immensely. But this STV visa leaves me asking. .....where are the details. Who are these so called agents that I must work through? What will these agents and the Thai government charge me for coming back to Thailand and supporting their economy? Who, how much, where from and when do these flights of 100 happen? Are there specific cities I must go to get these flight? Will the country where my "approved" flight originates allow me to spend 1-2 days in the country as I wait for my flight. I see this program falling flat on its face because of its own complexity, cost and lack of people really interested in going through this arduous process for only a 90 day visa. I will truly miss being in Thailand .....There has to be a better way.

OP, I can understand your wish to change to non O and get rid of the non O-A and it's ridiculous Thai insurance
However at this time I would do one more year with the extension to the O-A.
I realize it has expired just now, however being under amnesty you most likely still can obtain extension. There is cheap throw away insurance that you can obtain.
Please direct me to "cheap throw away insurance" that satisfies Thai immigration. I understand some have been denied entry based on having insurance from companies NOT listed as authorized on the long stay insurance web site referred to by Thai Immigration. I am out of the country and will need to reapply for a new retirement visa once thailand opens up to my category. Last year I paid 20K for insurance and if possible I would like to reduce this amount. But I am leery of buying insurance from any company not listed.

I mailed 3 greeting cards from the US to Thailand over the past 3 months (April May and June) and NONE of them have arrived at the address in Thailand that I mailed them to. I will try a package tomorrow which will be certified and insured so it can be tracked.

While your statement regarding Mayor Pete’s problems with millennials and minorities is true, it is also true that neither millennials nor minorities tend to turnout. However, Sanders nomination for the Democratic Party nominee for President is a gift to Trump. He will eat Sanders alive with Bernies socialist views and unaffordable/unpassable health, education, childcare plans. I spite of current polling numbers I can see another Nixon/McGovern scenario.

Here’s another example of rampant corruption in the military. My friends brother was in the Army. He was frequently sent home by his commanding officer so the officer did not have to pay him. The commander kept this kids salary. Apparently schemes like this are common. I was. Dumbfounded this occurred so openly.

I would love to see the statistics of when diplomatic immunity was used to avoid serious felony charges within the USA. Anecdotally I can remember 3-4. I am sure there are more. But of course the outcry is because in this case the “criminal” is American.
Aeroflot to Resume Moscow-Phuket Flights in October

Sanctions include embargo’s of approved parts for western built aircraft. Given the fact that Aeroflot is flying Boeing and Airbus airplanes I would not be anxious to fly with them. And it should be of concern to Thailand that potential unsafe aircraft are operating in their airspace.
