  1. I figured something like this would happen.  4 days ago I got my TP for the 7 days quarantine, for the 4th of February.  I live in Khon Kaen so traveling back & Forth would be ridiculous, but it'd be nice to not be in lock down for no good reason.  On top of that my car is there in Bangkok at my usual hotel and just the other day they started their ASQ status.  It could have been very nice to be in a one day quarantine with my car with me.  I wonder if I could get it changed... but I'll bet you can't apply for the Test 'n Go until the 1st.  If anyone has any insight I'd love some input.  Tim

  2. I have a question about TV service in Thailand. I've been living in Khon Kaen for years, and slowly but surely every TV service provider has discontinued carrying the good English language channels (Fox Action Movies, Fox Sports 1, 2, 3) ESPN, Fox News, ...) the last straw was when AIS dropped everything on October 1st. I returned to the US for surgery on 23 September so I dropped AIS before I left... So I'm looking for a way to get the USA channels again. Either by a Dish, or Streaming through my computer. I will be back in Khon Kaen around the end of January 2022. I still have KTV for my Thai family (but worthless to me). Any suggestions (positive in nature) will be appreciated. My email is: <email removed, please us PM function to contact>, and my lineID is: <Line ID removed, please use PM function to contact>

  3. I had the Moderna Vaccine in the USA.  The 1st injection on 7 January 2021 and the second on 1 February 2021.  Going back to the USA next month  for medical and dental appointments.  Will probably be gone for 3 to 4 months and if a 3rd injection becomes available from Moderna I will get it.

  4. Hi Rayfish... I just made the flight back and I'm  in day 12 of my quarantine.  I used what they refer to as a "semi-commercial" flight from Tampa Florida thru DFW thru Incheon Korea, then on to Bangkok.  I departed on 4 February and arrived at 11 pm on the 5th. Like you I had the vaccine on 7 January and 1 February... it made no difference.  Once i arrived in BKK the process was smooth and very fast.  They checked all of my paperwork and I had my bags and was out of Customs and in the Hotel Van within 45 minutes. I used the Washington DC Consulate.  They were for the most part helpful.  You need to complete the online application for your Certificate of Entry.  Which serves as the app for both the COE and your Visa, but once approved for the COE you must send in your hard copies for the actual Visa.  You'll need  to select and acquire your Alternate Site Quarantine (ASQ) Hotel (quite expensive) reservation and there's a list showing prices.  I went the cheap route: 32,000 Baht... no microwave, no window at the Qiu Hotel.  The food has been good, you can buy from 7-11 for a10% surcharge.  I'm ok with my choice of the ASQ Hotel.  So you need to get your insurance, Fit to Fly Letter from a doctor, & Covid-19 Test within 72 hours of the flight.  If you have any questions just let me know.  If you have "Line" my Line ID is: timd2019

  5. Hello Everyone,

I just returned from the USA after 10 months because of COVID-19.  My Car Registration Expired in August.  So my plan is to find the office to register the car prior to driving it back to Khon Kaen.  My Quarantine is finished next Saturday.  I assume that I will need to wait until Monday to register the vehicle.  I have the vehicle in storage here in Bangkok (probably need a new battery).  My car is located near the Krung Thorn Bridge so I will most likely book a few nights in the Royal River Hotel, which is close by.  Does anyone know the location of the registration office?  Also, that title insurance, I believe it is pronounced: "Por-Ra-Bore" will also be necessary.  I don't remember the fee amounts, but in Khon Kaen both the title insurance & the registration could be done in the same office.  Is it that way in Bangkok?  I have my "Car Book" and "Driver's License" with me.  Any help is appreciated.  Tim

  6. I have been living here in Thailand on Retirement Visas for 11 years until this past November.  I am scheduled to leave on 6 April for the USA.  I plan on getting a Non-O Visa through the Consulate in Washington DC to return on 18 June.  I am married so I don't anticipate any problem, but everything can change especially with this Virus scare.  Based on what I have read here on the forum there is a new requirement for a Fit-to-travel letter.  Is this a downloadable form letter?  Also, I planned to get a Medical Certificate here in Khon Kaen before heading to the airport.  Will this 2 month old letter be acceptable and the Consulate?  We own a house here in Khon Kaen.  Will my "yellow book" be sufficient or will I need to bring copies of her Blue Book, her ID Card, the marriage document, the Bank Book and Proof of Income Letter from my Credit Union in the USA?  Immigration wouldn't accept my insurance for a Non-O/A although it is unlimited in coverage amounts.  I intend to try for the "Unlimited Entry" Visa at a cost of $200.00 and have my return ticket departing the USA on 16 June.  Are there any other things that I should bring with me to prevent problems at the Washington DC Consulate?  One more question: Can I get a Non-O based upon retirement?  I have started using Transferwise since November and typically transfer over 100,000 Baht each month.  Ubon Joe has helped me in the past for which I am very grateful. However, I know things may have changed, so I am asking again.  Thanks in advance...  Tim

  7. My Garmin GPS problem.   I have a Garmin Drive 50.  It is 5 months old.  My trip map is not working in Thailand.  I contacted Garmin USA about it, and they thought that my Thailand map may have been corrupted and sent me an update.  That didn't work.  It is still doing the same.  The trip keeps updating... The triangle that represents the car is off the highway.   Does anyone have any ideas about how to fix this?  Thanks

  8. Does anyone know what is the earliest number of days, prior to the expiration of a one year visa extension, that you can apply early for a new extension of a Retirement Visa?  I have a surgery appointment scheduled on October 1st in the USA, and my Extension expires on 6 November.  I'd like to do the extension before I depart for the surgery.  Thanks in advance for the answer.  Tim

  9. I will be applying for a 1 year extension of my Visa soon.  I will need to get the certification letter from the Embassy, and my current extension expires on 6 November 2017.  I live in Khon Kaen and there will be an Embassy Outreach held, in Udorn Thani, on July 21st.  Would an Income verification completed in Udorn on July 21st be accepted on or about November 1st?  That would be just  over 90 days old (112 days to be exact), or will I need to travel to Bangkok?  Obviously much closer to go to Udorn Thani.  The Embassy outreach in Khon Kaen will be in late November... too late to help me I'm afraid.

  10. When I was a young boy (13 or 14) I used to hang out with my friend Alan.  One weekend day, Alan and I went to the local drug store in our small town and we both took a pair of sunglasses.  It bothered me for years.  About 10 years later, when I had returned to my parents home for a visit, I remembered the incident and I went back to that very same drug store.  The owner had not changed, he was the same friendly man he had always been.  I told him the story of what Alan and I had done, and I apologized to Joe DiPietro (the owner) and I paid him for the two pairs of sunglasses.  I also offered him some additional money for the problem I had caused him.  Joe refused the extra money and thanked me for being honest.  He said that he thought that we had stolen from him that day but wasn't sure what we had taken.  He then offered me an ice cream sandwich, and we sat together and talked a while about what had happened during the years that had passed.  My family had been trading with Joe for years.  His reaction to my confession taught me a lesson, and he never mentioned anything to my parents that I am aware of.  That was my first time, and that was my last time to have taken anything that I hadn't paid for.  I had learned a valuable lesson both of repentance and of forgiveness back then.  Maybe she has learned a lesson too.  The former workplace will not forgive her, but I suspect that you can, and I think (and hope) she will cherish that from you.

  11. It always amazes me how the pundits on the left always come up with what is going to happen, when they have absolutely no idea and have no input.  Let the President Elect take office and watch the first few months and actually see what he and his people will try to do.  If he does something you don't like and something you feel is wrong vote for the other guy/woman and take your feelings to the polls, and try to get the change that you want.  Stop throwing "BS" ... it means nothing!
