How is what you post relevant? Who broke down any gate or trespassed on the McCloskeys property? Take a good look at the picture. They are outside their fence and unarmed. The only ones that are a danger to society is the McCloskeys.
The lovely peaceful protesters did tear down the gate. The whole place is private. They were trespassing.

I do not mind who is in the right. I will not going to use that hotel. No way. Too risky.

After 20 years my rose coloured glasses fell off ( ok it didn't happen just now)I see even I am married to a thai citizen for over 16 years I am less and less welcome in Thailand. I gave up upon the idea retire there. I am not going to do 90 days report
. No reports if I leave our house for a week. I am not interested to do the marriage visa every motherlover year. No. I will move to Portugal rent a flat for 200€ no special visa needed. No hassle. No double pricing. I will visiting Thailand but no way I will jump around how they whistle. Thailand was better in my opinion. Now the prices are up friendliness down, everywhere, bars, restaurants, shops, markets. Even if I can speak basic thai. Ok I stop being so negative,Thailand still have good sides I guess I am just disappointed.

£200 for a week in Greece, no quarantine, do what you want and the food and beer is actually cheaper than here now....No ones interested in coming here anymore
Sure. I would not go back to Thailand now. I am sure EVERYONE from taxi drivers to the market lady would overcharge me not double but triple and more.

Locked up in a room ?
No.
Staying in a 5 star beach front hotel, free to use all facilities in the hotel and access to a section of beach/sea.
Sounds terrible!
Guests are not supposed to leave their room for at least a week, can't use the restaurant or Spa for 13 day. At least now. But I think this will be the same for the future quarantine.

Few years ago I waited for an hour to get my stamp/at airport immigration /. Not a pleasant experience spiced up with line cutters. Taxis never overcharged me,though.

Smells kinda metallic to me"The Burmese worker smelled blood "
How does blood smells?
It is quite potent a smell when in the quantities I suspect were present at this crime scene.

it is more than simple face. everyone involved truly believes that the merit earned and dedicated to the parents will actually aid in their circumstances of rebirth.I think what many of you good folk are forgetting is the ritual of the Son in the family going to the monastery is probably one of the most
important days in the Mothers and her families lives,it may seem farcical to some people but not for the Thais, for them it is very important.
At the end of the day it is about Face.......but would You want Your loved one to lose their Face, give a good party and make it a day where
Your Son's Mother can hold her head up high and be proud.
These 2 posts nail some crucial factors; The importance to family ,the face issue, merit earned.
I did not realise exactly what a huge event it is for the family until I attended an event for the brother of my GF.
What some posters are failing to acknowledge, is that there is not one size fits all. The style of celebration, duration, lavishness, is going to be different across areas of Thailand. It could depend on social standing, finances, size of family, location, belief in the process, ecetera.
With the type of celebration being different the cost is also going to differ based on event size, number of guests, duration of party.
Sir, you nailed it.
