The presence of a friend enhances all beauty and exalts every goodness.
Can't beat a bit of surrealism in a thread.

If you can isolate the birds that sound like The Rolling Stones, please send them to a tree near us.
Can they do requests?
'Pleased to meet choo, hope you guess my name.

Ruan Chomchan is a fantastic Thai seafood restaurant. The quality seems better than Romson and slightly more pricey. Its probably about 1kilometre from the Pala roundabout heading towards Garden School. Fantastic food and a nicely decorated place.
Wifey and I had brunch there earlier.
Very nice seating area, sturdy tables and chairs, clean and comfortable and fly-free. Interesting array of knick-knacks and paintings, a chiming clock and many plants. A sink with soap!
We had crab with garlic and ginger. (I think it was with ginger, anyway, delicious). Shrimp som tam. (Delicious). Large prawns with black pepper, noodles and greens. (W liked it). Rice. (Well cooked and fluffy).
All good. Attentive but not hovering service.
With two bottles of water and ice, the bill came to a reasonable 650 baht.
We'll go again.

Homepro have a thick shrouded cable lock with decent padlock for about 600 baht.
GT Rider on Pattaya Tai have some cable locks. It's a motorbike accessories shop, but the cable locks would be suitable for a bicycle. They also stock a D-lock.

I've been trying to post some photos on the forum without success.
I've tried clicking on the 'Choose file' option in the Attach Files section and, after waiting some time for the pic to upload, I get a message, 'Error-this upload failed'.
So I try the basic uploader, choose file and click on attach this file. Wait for it to upload and when it reaches 100%, there is a message in the bottom left corner of the screen which says, 'connecting to ThaiVisa', then a box pops up in the Attach Files area, 'Error-this upload failed'.
I'm using an Aircard connection, so maybe this is too slow.
Any other ideas?

I hope they are better than the Portsmouth Sinfonia:
I'd like a front row seat for a concert of this standard. I could do with a good laugh.
But I'm sure the Philharmonic will be fine and I am hoping for an enjoyable listening experience, provided I leave before My Way...

I take a colour photocopy now and use that for the display and keep the original under the seat with a copy of the green book.
I've decided to go for this idea.
I've attached a plastic tube holder to the number plate and put a photocopy in the tube. I will keep the original under the seat, along with a copy of the green book. A belt and braces approach.
Thanks to JonnyF for the tip and thanks to everybody for the replies.

I've got my green book. Just a few days short of six months in the waiting. It's like winning the lottery! Well, more like winning a coin toss.
So I'm on a white plate and I've got a tax disc.
But where do I put the tax disc on a PCX? I've bought one of those clear plastic tube holders, with the intention of attaching it to the number plate. But, on reflection, it seems a bit easy for a light-fingered person to unbolt it and make off with it if I put it in that position.
Are there any other places I could attach it that would be more secure? I've tried looking for ideas online, but haven't come up with anything.
Or should I tape it to the underside of the seat with clear plastic tape?
Thanks for any replies.

I thought the General was going to personally rewrite the soap opera scripts.
Hasn't he got 'round to it yet?

That must lead to some interesting gossip.

Thanks very much for all the tips.
At the moment I'll stick with downloading from opensubtitles.org and using VLC media player, but I may take up some of the other ideas at a later date.
Thanks again.

Wa-hey! Happy days are here again!
Using opensubtitles.org and unzipping the file, I've now got subtitles on the movies.
I spent some time on this yesterday to no avail. I thought I would ask on TV and in a short time the problem is solved.
Thanks very much for the replies.
Thanks for your detailed reply, bt, I may use your recommendations at a later date.

Thanks for the reply.

I'd like to add English subtitles to downloaded movies.
I've tried searching for a method online, but none of them work for me.
I've tried downloading zip files, renaming them so that they have the same title as the movie, putting them in the same folder as the movie and using VLC media player with the subtitles option engaged to play the movie. No subtitles appear.
Can anybody tell me which method they use to add subtitles to a movie?

How about the all-timber temple. It's an amazing building.
Also the Chinese/Thai museum a bit out of town. Some amazing works of art and life-size statues etc. Anyone know the name?
The all-timber temple is well worth a visit. Some excellent carvings. It's called The Sanctuary of Truth.

I also agree on the Chinese/Thai museum being put on your list. It's one of my favourite museums.
It's called;
Anek Kuson Sala (Viharna Sien)
Address: Na Jomtien Km 160, Sukhumvit Road, Pattaya.
Local name อเนกกุศลศาลา (วิหารเซียน)
Local address นาจอมเทียน กม.ที่ 160 ถ. สุขุมวิท -
Sharing one of wifey's delicious meals, then eating fruit, carefully chopped and prepared by me, while watching a movie, then off to bed for some How's your father.
Lovely.

Back on topic, the road that runs round Bang Phra reservoir and then on to Sriracha has some good twisties.
I went for a ride on this route this morning. Very enjoyable. Fresh air, lovely views and a road through woodland with twisties. I was hoping to find a nice place to sit and enjoy a sip of water when I found an open area, set back from the road, with public seating in the shade of a tree and a view that was out of this world. A wide view of the lake, with trees on the far side and hills in the background shrouded in mist. Wonderful.
Thank you for this recommendation.
On the way back I decided to make the route circular, so I turned left from the Sukhumvit at Si Racha and went on to the 3241. A bit urban to begin with, but a nice wide road with little traffic at that time. However, after passing through a couple of small roundabouts, the road becomes more rural, very smooth with sections to cruise on, then twisties to do a bit of leaning in to. Wa-hey! (Steady on, old-timer...). A very enjoyable ride.
Then on to the 331 to loop back home.

On re-reading my last post, I meant road 36, left onto the 331, then left to the 3240.
I'll be trying the Bang Phra reservoir route soon. Thanks, BKKB.
Papa Al, I went on the Bypass as part of my ride yesterday, en route to Jomtien. It's a useful road, amazingly empty at many times of the day, in comparison to the S racetrack, as you correctly call it.
