  1. Good morning,

I would like to make pizza myself but am not sure about making the base so if possible I would like to buy that part. I looked everywhere (Makro, Rimping, Big C. Tesco) but only found the small size, anybody knows where to buy the bigger size ?

    Thanks

    John

  2. Do you have any proof that her husband is with the police ? I have been living near Chiang Mai Gate for more than 10 years and know that her husband is not a police man but an ice delivery man. His pick up truck was parked many times in front of her office.

Does it have no use to go to the police ?

He he her husband is a Lt Col in in the Police. My wife tried that, Lamai Can give you full details if you want.

  3. Visa on arrival is easy, our Vietnamese partner will issue a letter and you can get a visa when you arrive there. Visa on arrival = US $ 25 and service = US $ 35. Total is US $ 60 which is probably not more than when you let an agent apply for you in Bangkok because that is what they do (send your passport to Bangkok).

With visa on arrival you do not even have to leave your house and your passport stays with you.

Any Idea on the price Loaded? cheers for the input.

  4. Must be the same guy since he showed me the bill of THB 85.000 he paid for 2 tickets Chiang Mai-Singapore-Paris return. He called the airline to ask a question about extra luggage and they coud not find his booking. He went to that travel agency and she admitted she just took his money and did not do anything. After he filed a court case.

Ok, she has told me about a french guy. I believe this guy actually heard rumours about what she was pulling and looked up the ticket in advance to find out it hadn't been paid for. If I got the story straight, I think this is also the person that has already taken her to court. She told me that she owes him 85K. Does that sound about right from what he told you?

Unfortunately, my lawyer got caught up in court today and can't get to it till tomorrow now:(.

  5. Hi, I do not think we meet before. I heard this story from a French guy and when they took her to the police station she was welll known over there already.

Thats right, "not too far from Chiang Mai gate". Have you heard about other cases to do with this shop recently, or have you and I actually met in person? We just spoke with a lawyer over the phone and will have a meeting tomorrow after he goes to straighten some things out with the police regarding the reports they made. It looks like the police may have been "on her side" due to a few details in the report. Apparently, the dated receipt is only valid for 3 months in this type of case so this needs to get rolling right away since I actually paid near the end of June. You could be right about it not being a civil case, but thats what the police made very clear to us, although it looks like they may have sided with her. We will see what happens with the lawyer tomorrow. I am nearly ready to publicize her name as best as I can, but I will first talk to the lawyer.

The shop you are talking about, is that not too far from Chiang Mai Gate ?

I am in the process of trying to get my money back from an agent about an air ticket that she never actually paid for. She called me the day before I was to fly and told me that we need to change my dates. She admitted that she has spent my money on the previous customer's ticket. She has been brutally honest about everything actually. She is very behind on all her payments, and have basically used todays money to pay for yesterdays tickets. We met a group of 3 Thais that came to her office with the same issue. We called police, they took her to the station to fill out reports etc so we could take her to court. Since its civil, the police can do nothing more. It was her 3rd time at the station for the same thing, and she has been there once or twice since too.

She managed to give me back 25% of what I paid her but hasn't been able to come up with anything more in the last week. I won't say who she is "yet" as she is still trying to correct the problem. If she doesn't continue paying me back, I will take her to court and post about what "her shop" did to me everywhere. I will even stand in front of her shop and scare away every customer.

Obviously this is effectively no different than the scam mentioned, but I do believe that this lady has really screwed up and is trying to sort it out.

At this point, I am trying to decide if I should continue waiting around in an attempt to collect my money, or buy another ticket and go visit home for a few weeks and deal with it when I come back.

(BTW, this was not from the MAU shop but if thats the one by Warorot market, I have heart about many people getting caught out there)

  7. Hi,

I just heard that there is apparently another scam going on where customers book flight tickets with a travel agency, pay the tickets but the agency pockets the money and never buys the tickets at the airline. In many cases customers are either already in Bangkok where they find out or even worse already in their home country and about to fly back to Thailand when they fInd out that the ticket has never been bought. It is actually very easy to check if tickets are really valid:

    1. When you make a booking you will get a printed statement with the details of your booking. At this moment you still do not have to pay anything to the agency, they will give you a date when the ticket can be bought latest. Note: The price can change when you do not buy the ticket immediately (for example airport taxes are raised or simply the offer from the airline changes)

    2. When you want to finalize your booking you go back to the agency and ask them to issue the ticket, at that moment you will get the final price. They will ask you to pay and after that they will give you the so called E-ticket (Electronic ticket) which is also just a print with your flight details AND your ticket numbers. Note: This is still no proof that your ticket has been paid by them , they just could make up the ticket numbers

    3. How to check ? Ask them your Booking reference number, this is a 6 digit number (also called Amadeus Reservation Number)and ask them to go to this website: www.checkmytrip.com

    4. Type in this number and your last name on this site and if the tickets are bought already the details will come up, if not they did not buy the tickets

Hope this is useful and will stop this few lowlife agencies to give the many trustworthy agencies a bad name.

  8. I just heard from Miss Jacky at Thailand Treks that her selling price = THB 11.800, not a big difference with the other company. They now have Amadeus booking system installed and can make bookings for all destinations.

    Thanks,

    Hans

  9. Any news about this ?

I found out that Mau Tour service at Charoenrathet road , gave me very reasonable

prices as well , beat the one mentioned with a few thousand baht .......

Also gave me a fair discount on the already cheaper prises given , so MTS for me .

This travel agent (MTS) has caused numerous people in Chiangmai grief and if you have survived unscathed then consider yourself very lucky. Of course they will beat any price going by a few thousand baht, that's because often they fail to pay the airlines!

Ah wow that changes a lot is it , did not know that .

But now I remember that my returnticket to Cm after a long flight from Holland , which I

could not use , cause it was not registered or something and had to buy a new ticket .

But the travel agent gave me back the money . I thought it was an unconvenient mistake , it isn't I understand now .

......I will not go there any longer from now on , thanks for the feedback guys .

Wow, you must be blessed - can I touch the hem of your garment before picking my lottery numbers? :o

Latest news about Mau tours.. I have heared they (finaly) arrested the owner. how ever the shop is still open.. that suprises me!1

I really think the police is getting a piece of the cake.. since they are doing their funny bussines for months now already!!

  10. I want to buy a Toyota Sportrider, now it seems that they were made until about 1999 with a 3.0 D engine, apparently using a lot of petrol. After that a so called KZ engine later on with turbo. The last engine is D4D.

Does any of you have experience with one (or more) of this types, fact is that the car with oldest engine is very affordable, D4D almost always with automatic while I am looking for a manual.

One dealer over here has this KZ engined car (it says 3.0 EFI Turbo)

    Please your opinion.

    Hans

  11. :o That is dreadful. What you did was the opposite. Don't beat yourself up about being kind (and gullible) I am sure that most people would fall for it.

There is a French guy in Chiang Mai who has been pulling this stunt for years.

I hope that there is a special place in hel_l for those who take advantage of the kind-hearted! :D

I would like to have more details about this story.

  12. Is this the same car ??

    2002 Toyota Sportcruiser

3.0L turbo diesel, manual gearbox, 4x4, leather interior, 95,000KLMs, full service history from new, Expat owner, many extras, bull bars, load liner etc, full power and electrics, good clean condition. 460,000 Baht. Car can be seen in Chiang Mai.

  13. "My chopper was parked" you say. I do not know you but could it be you are driving a big 200 CC Honda Phantom or Kawasaki Boss "Chopper" ? According to your reaction you are just the guy riding one of these mean machines.

    :o

A few days ago I parked my motorbike unfotunately at a street with parking restictions.

Found my bike half an hour later with lock, chain an police ticket.

Well, bad luck, that what I thought.

But what a surprise at the Mai Ping Police station, they charged me a 400,= thb. fine.

Thais friends told me that the regular police ticket for such a ,,criminal parking misbehaviour,, is

100 ,= thb. for the Thai.

I went back to the Mai Ping station to complain. As I already expected a useless action and waste of time. The aswer was that I should not worry as long as the fine is not yet 400,= USD.

Comming and living in Chiang Mai for over 20 years I see my sympaty for Thailand slowly melting away. Now it even looks like Chiang Mai police turns to Pattaya style. Thsi does not make it any better.

    Amazing Thailand.

Hey, in 1995, I was fined 400 baht for exactly the same thing on Thapae rd.. No big deal then, nor now...

I was fined 700B about 5 years ago when my car was 'steel booted', on Chotana near Novotel. The 'no parking' sign was well up the road, inconspicuously posted. Actually met the cop as he was remounting his M/C draped with more steel boots. No compassion; I didn't expect any, just wanted to know where to pay the fine. He took me via his bike to the police station, I paid 700B and was returned to my car. Just last week on Suthep Rd at the BkkBank there were about 6 M/Cs being chained as they were blocking access to the the side road. The Thai owners were complaining as the cop silently continued his lock-up and promptly left. Equal justice, good police work.

BTW, good coffee and small talk from the Thai chap selling espresso etal from his VW van...the Italian espresso machine is a magnificent thing, mega baht. Must be doing well as he is importing the penultimate machine in the near future.
