It's just an utter disaster, I am utterly sick of everything now. Also sick of wearing these damned muzzles and being looked at like I'm evil personified if heaven forbid the thing isn't covering my nose..

Answer me this, how come the UK has approx 70000 covid cases a day still, this country now has approx 7000 a day and the UK is pretty much back to normal and we are still in this rut all muzzled up?? Both countries have similar populations.

Maybe that´s why UK have 70.000 cases aday, and 145.000 dead.

good luck with your project. You really should be on sight, buy and choose everything yourself.Get as many quotes before deciding on a builder.......as a yardstick if you want a decent job done allow costs to be approx.11000 baht a square metre.Insulate the roof, put in a 1500 litre water tank,so if and when the govt. water is turned off you'll always have water. If the land size is more than 1 naan put in a deep well......cost between 15000-20,000 baht.

You cannot rely on relatives to protect you from a builder doing a lousy job....you should not build if you are not in thailand to oversee the project in my opinion.

    Lots of good advice.

But where did that 11.000 baht a square metre came from.

We build our house five years ago 150 sqm for about 600.000 baht.

It´s a big beautiful thai style house with two bathrooms, tinted windows, AC.

Everything you need for a comfortable life, we stay there four month every year.

As I said before, my wife bought all the material and a lokal builder build the house like we wanted it to be.

    Here´s a photo.

Alot of things different from US standards. As said in previous posts, be there. To that end, wait , get there, then rent for the first year. Rent is cheap in Thailand.
Draw up the  rough floor plan to get an idea. Act as your own general contractor and be prepared to wait. The first word with workmen is “prung nee”(tomorrow).
Insulation of walls is unheard of. What some people have done is make a double wall with a dead air space in between. As for the roof/ceiling SBC makes a roof tile that has insulation and foil in the back side. A powdered roof vent fan is a good idea too.
Plumbing, make sure it is vented, not a standard practice in LOS. Electrical insure it’s a 3 wire a ground. Separate circuits for ACs and water heaters.
Tiling is another issue only a few know about back buttering tiles. Most will lay mortar bed and just tap, tap, tap. Out of 5 tile jobs only found 1 that back buttered. I called the wife over to see. Said see this guy knows the right way to do it. If you don’t you will always get hollow spots under tile. You will always hear it.

Also as stated earlier buy your materials. If you don’t you’ll be paying 100% markup.
I’ve rambled on enough. Good luck in your home building.

It´s all so true, but I must say that I´m very pleased with the Thai way of tiling, in our house and four neighbors new build houses as well.

If you do the way "we" use to do, you need a smoother concrete base. Is that the way to say it?       I think you understand what I mean.

I can repeat it again, be there, or it will be very expensive.

If you have millions maybe it doesn´t matter. If not you must be there.

  4. We have a house some km from Siwilai close to Phon Charoen.

We was building a garage on the sunny south side of the house, the garage is warm but the wall to the house is cold.

As Finnsk said, you and your wife must be there. If you have no time now, wait till you have time, it don´t take to long time to build a house.

Your wife must be there when it comes to buy material for the house.

If you´re not there it will be way much moore expensive.

When we were building our house, my wife and I bought all the material and the lokal builder build the house.

Our neighbour used a "construction company" way much more expensive.

They were cheated in many ways.

English is not my language, hope it´s readable.

And good luck, maybe we´ll meet one day at the lokal market in Siwilai.

  5. They can take off and take down the plane without visibility.

But they don´t do it beacause they need to see that the runway is free from objekts like animals and other things.

I´ve been grounded several times because of fog.

Happend in France not so long ago with KLM, we had to wait 4 hours before they could take off.

  6. only 73? it certainly cant be death from old age or natural causes. something is obviously amiss.

I had a friend who did´nt wake up a week ago in Ubon, he was only 47.

He had a not gay boyfriend that try to get rid of him a couple of times before.

My friend was a heavy drinker, quite easy to put somethihg in his drink.

Are they always doing an autopsy to se what cause the death?

But of course nothing will happend, only to say that he eat the "medicin" himself.

  7. That was what happen to us a couple of days ago

. I didn't know it was that far away Took a taxameter. It was about 100 km from Sukhumvit.

Nothing to say about that, i could ask, but when we arrive there was two options 4.000 THB and 2.000THB.

I just said, Go back. 200 km taxi, almost 2.000 THB and waist of time, for nothing.

  8. You have already the answer. It´s not expensive to get married.

But to get a balance about many replys about how greedy and terrible Thai girls are.

I´ve been happily married with a Thai woman for almost 10 years, from day one she bring more money to the household than she spend.

We live in Sweden but we spend about 3 month in Thailand every winter,

In Sweden she pay all food, all cloth, everything for the household, sometimes gasoline for the car,

she even payed half when we bought the Lexus car that we have now.

I use to pay the airplanetickets and then when we´re in Thailand she pay everything.

She pay for domestic flights. We use to stay a couple of weeks in hotels and the rest of the time we spend in her house in Isaan.,

I don´t use my Visacard one single time

It´s a beautiful house that she built with money that she earn herself in Sweden.

She work in a greenhouse 7 month a year, but she make money on many things, fishing, mushrooms, growing vegetables (she sell to supermarket).

She take care of peoples summerhouse, when they´r not there.

We met in a bar in Jomtien, where she did work at the time.

So, things are not black or white, there are good and bad people everywere.

English is not "my" language hope you can read and understand.

Great post. I enjoyed reading it. Have you ever been to Stampens in Stockholm?

We live in the south of Sweden.

Been a lot in Sthlm but never Stampen, but for sure a great place.

  9. OK, that is nice that you  are feeling alright in Sweden. And everything is OK. I am from Malmo and we have big problems with immigrants. You have maybe seen some on the news on TV. We have about 40% immigrants here. Actually these are old numbers. I think it is more by now. In the Malmo jail we have 85% immigrants even if some say others that is the way it is. I beleive in the future you will get more immigrants as well. I hope you will not get the criminal ones. I believe not becuase they use to settle down in big cities (more people-more business in drugs).

And unfortunately a LOT of our taxes are used for that as well. You mentined the helthcare system. That was much better before than now due to lack of money.

I think that´s moore a politikal problem, that they put to many people together in the same place.

Lack of money, I don´t think so, it´s politic. In the end it´s the people that make a country rich.

I don´t know to many imigrants but  I know a few, one guy from Palestine, a couple from Libanon, one family from Bosnia,

five women from Thailand some, people from Poland, one woman and her son from Moldova, they all work  (with no support from government) and pay tax

A lot of imigrants in jail, thats good is´nt it, that they put criminals in jail, I only know two guys that been locked in, one for six years, and one 2x8 month

    They are both very swedish..

Another thing about that people from other countrys is expensive for us

is that we have no problem buying cheap cloths, tools, TVs, and many things that are made of people that work for peanuts in poor countries.

My wife she spend two years in school to learn swedish, after that she get a job,

It´s a part time job she don´t work in the winter and that´s perfect for us,

We can spend some months inThailand, the last two years we have been there together.

  10.

Sweden is a great country to live in. When I see all problems around the word I´m happy that I´m born here.

Maybe we have most imigrants per capita, but we are only about 9 mil. people in this very big country.

Without imigrants it would be a very boring place, so many fantastic people coming to Sweden.

God people, bad people have nothing with race or religion to do.

Many people like the cold winter (like my thaiwife) I dont, because of that we go to Thailand 2-3 month every winter

Sometime I go alone, sometime we go both. She have a beautiful house in Isaan.

She build and payd it herself with money she earn in Sweden.

I think that many of them that complain how terrible it is, they are just not satisfied with themself.

They live a crappy life, if they move to Thailand they will start to complain about Thailand.

Again Sweden is not only a beautiful country, it´s wonderful to live here.

Hope this is readable, only four years english at the time I go to school (long time ago).

Were are you living in Sweden?

We live in the south of Sweden, 20 km from Tingsryd.

I can also say that after my wife get a swedish passport it took 5 years before she wanted to go back to Thailand, she love the life here.

She said that she have been in Thailand so much and it´s to hot, no holliday for me.

About this topic, no big deal. If it make somebody happy, why not.

The present governmen is since 8 years a right wing government, before it was kind of left.

The only different is that this government has make life hard for people that have no job and people that is sick.

It´s a little bit like if you loose both your arms, they say that you have to find a job where you don´t need arms, no money from us

    .

We were used to from before, if we had some serious illness like cancer or something like that.

We was taken care of financially, that´s one of the reason we pay tax.

Now they say like, if you can walk and sit, you can work.

  12. Canadians do not have balls, they have hockey pucks.

Anyways..this topic always shows a good amount of ignorance... Check the DNA of any Canadian and you will probably end up with Brit Balls or Welsh Balls...with a few French Balls thrown in. As for Americans....you got to add in the African DNA, which constitutes about 99 percent of the total population ball mass of the world. lol.

Seems that I can be lucky that I´m Swedesmile.png

  13. you can take the girl out of the bar, but not the bar out of the girl………

Getting tired of this now, heard and read it to many times.

My wife worked in a bar when I met her.

We have been together for eight year now and have a fantastic life.

About money, she bring more money to us then I do.

We also have a house in Thailand that she build and paid with her own money.

If the belgian man beat his gf, I think he deserve what he get, just hope he survive.

    Maybe he learn something.

  14. Go to the spanish migration homepage, Im sure they have all details and all the paper you need for download.

Read on this forum about relations with thaigirls, if youre a newbie. It can be wonderful and it can be a nightmare. 90% is about money and the rest is about money and love. That was an sideline from your qestion. Im married with a thaigirl, we have a great life. But there is a lot of paperwork and travelling to do, before she is inside EU legaly.

    Good Luck.

  15. Imagine if British men had to learn Thai before moving to Thailand, there wouldnt be any here!

Very true, long time ago I was with an Cuban mulata she couldn´t a word english, but I learned spanish, we had a great time, and after we came to my country (sweden) she learned swedish. It´s always the rich against the poor people. Can you imagine Thai government force us to learn thai to stay in Thailand, I think not. Don´t say its moore easy for them to learn english than, for us to learn thai. We are often more educated and used to learn than the thaipeople, I say often, not always. But ofcourse if you live in a country like England, you must learn the language, but that is something else. Hope you understand my "schoolenglish"
