  1. Not sure if this helpful as I don't know your background. But try and go postpaid. 18 months ago could not get postpaid without work permit. Now all of a sudden they allowed it.

Pay 700 a month. 3GB 3G/4G and unlimited wifi ( just about any public place seems to have true wifi on sukhumvit and Sathorn).

  2. Hey all! I live on sukhumvit soi 52 and unfortunately my condo has a library instead of a gym.

I am getting rounder and need to hit the gym ASAP. I see that major ekami mall and Terminal 21 have gyms.

Is there anything closet that anyone can recommend? I basically want a treadmill, bike, basic weight equipment and air conditioning. The closet to my condo the better, as my lazy ass needs to get there every day.

Your suggestions are welcome. Thanks in advance!

  3. Yet, under the Shins, corruption has soared to unprecidented heights.

Only seems that way because he published the price list....... The elites prefer an MSRP without a published price list tongue.png

I don't like corruption but the Shins did take it to far even for the Thai people. Some Thais even telling me that corruption is a part of "Thai culture"!

As some of my closest Thai friends said when YL was removed as PM:

Before the Shins a normal kick-back was 10-20% and under the Shins it has gone to 50% or MORE!

I know the guy is late 80's but would love to see Thanin Kraivichien back as PM. The last honest politician of Thailand.

  4. Wow, the guy is really showing his colors, ain't he? A dictator of his ilk won't stand much longer for a free flow of information and public expression of opinion on the internet. But I guess that would come after the shuttering of the judicial branch of gov't.? I'm afraid our days are numbered.

Our days are numbered? Come on already TV. Enough of the freaking fear mongering.

  5. There are plenty of ladies in Thailand who will not ask you for money. This is not a Thai girlfriend issue, but a rotten girlfriend issue.

Just like in any country rotten women have eyes set on marks. Don't be a mark, if you only see her a month out of the year rest assured she has other marks she is playing in your absence.

Find yourself a better girl, who loves you for you and enjoys your company, not your money.

In a nutshell, dump this broad and find another chick. There are too many out there to be used and abused by one, which is what I guarantee you are on the road for if you do give her money now.

    Good luck!

  6. When I moved from Bangkok to Ho Chi Minh about two years back I had an extra 60kg of items, (suitcase, large box, and all in one printer) I wanted to take with me. Found the best option was airline cargo. The same airline you are taking home offers cargo services. Contact them and take your stuff to their cargo offices.

I had done this with Air Asia and it was dirt cheap. I paid around the same price for my 60kg cargo that my buddy on the same flight paid for his excess luggage of 20kg at the airport. Definitely check this out its a better option then mailing it out and you get it a few days after you arrive.

  7. Two annoying issues:

Can't open to favorites section directly in guide.
50% + of all items in guide state "No information available". I have to tune the channel to find out what's on currently and next up.

Anyone else having same issues? Any solutions?

  8. Did this problem happen after a windows update? With the latest "background windows update" this weekend (win 7 home) I had some problems pop up with permissions (printer and my outlook.pst file). Had to set permissions for both to access properly again. You may want to just quickly review the properties and permission on your drive, if you have not done so already.

  9. Bob- have you tried the 4th floor AT&T MBK? They have shops which specialize in apple repairs, although I believe they are unofficial repair shops and could void your warranty, it's a cheap place to get it fixed.

  10. Tbailo- Thanks, please PM Mrs. Laundry's number, that sounds like a great deal! I will check out the shop in the alley, will take my suits there tomorrow. Will try the pizza place you recommended. Thanks!

Seriously, 20 baht per item is a good deal? I used to do it a laundry shop across my street (in Bangkok) for 30 baht a kilo. Now I moved to a different building I use the self-service laundry room and I can wash and dry all my clothes for 50 baht.

I have a washing machine in the condo. Have no problem waging my shorts, thirst, boxers, Etc. I had inquired where I can take my suits and collared shirts to. When it comes to my suits and work collared shirts I never use the washing machine. It may work, but I've personally never tried it.

  11. The only downside with GrabTaxi (which I love as a service) is that it doesn't guarantee you a taxi- drivers can choose whether or not to answer the request for a taxi and a few times I've found that it becomes impossible to get someone to pick you up.

I used these people when I need a guaranteed taxi to the airport- 1000 baht might not be the cheapest but they've always been on time and never been any problems.

edit: obviously you need to call and book in advance

Rumble- your contact was excellent, arrived on time and had ok problems. I have some family coming in town and have already hired service R/T Pattaya with him. Thanks again!

I just called and was pleasantly surprised the gentleman who answered spoke perfect English. Booked car for 6am.

Thanks again to everyone for the taxi, laundry and private car info. This group is great! Will be here for another two years so likely will be bothering you all for advice again In the near future. :)

  13. Flying out of Suvarnabhumi and unfortunately have a lot of luggage with me on this trip. Good to hear that taxis were at least out there for you on songkran, I am sure worst case scenario I can offer a bit more to any hesitant taxi. Thanks for the reply, you alleviated my concern.

Quick follow-up question, as you live in same area: Do you have a laundry/dry cleaner you can recommend for suits and collared shirts? Last week I had used the back counter across swensens ice cream in the mini shopping mall/Tesco mall, but nearly had a minor heart attack when I got the bill...

  14. I know that Thailand is essentially shut down 12-15 of April. I live on Soi 52 near on nut BTS, have a flight at 8am. How difficult will it be to get a cab? Do cabbies take off for songkran? Or am I just worried for nothing? I have half a mind of booking myself in an airport hotel from tomorrow night just so I don't have to worry about taxi availability. Please, someone with songkran experience in BKK, please give me some advice. Thanks in advance!
