  1. I have gone through this over the past 3 years.

Recommend ROON + Qobuz . Tidal will be ending its association with MQA as the company is no longer solvent . MQA was lossy anyway.

Many ways to stream , but I have settled for a laptop running a debloated

Windows is noisy so AOhttps://www.highend-audiopc.com/audiophile-optimizer  and Fidelizer Prohttps://fidelizer-audio.com/fidelizer-feedback/  assist in making windows less noisy.

MQPlayer software is a must for upscaling and filters- Requires a substantial CPU to run this software at extreme settings.https://www.signalyst.com/

One last piece of software that enhances the SQ - Trusted clean .

  2. I am into my 4th week suffering from Bronchitis , which I picked up in Australia or more likely on the numerous flights I had - 12 take offs and landings.

Started with Nurofen and have since been on Amoxicillin - But still no improvement.

I am concerned that the covid vaccinations have weakened my immune system

Not for someone playing in the 1960's - 70's (which is probably when he was playing, given his age).

When Kevin Keegan signed for Liverpool in 1971 he was getting a basic wage of £50 a week. And that's for one of England's best players at one of England's top clubs.

Somebody playing at Coventry and Shrewsbury would have been getting considerably less.

The era of footballers earning more than the average worker didn't start till the 80's or 90's, with the influx of foreign players. And footballer's careers can be incredibly short - most are lucky to get as long as 15 years at the top level.

Even if this guy played for that long (and we don't know that he did) he wouldn't have amassed much of a nest egg with the wages they got back then.

In 1961 the maximum player salary was abolished and Johnny Haynes negotiated a 100 pounds a week salary .Keegan would have been on a lot more than 50 pounds a week 10 years later

MY case- retirement visa about to be extended for 12 months -So far no mandatory medical insurance.

But I'm leaving Thailand immediately I get the extension.

I return -Now I have to buy medical insurance ok no problem , but insurance is 30 day restricted .

I intend to remain in Thailand for another 12 months -But my insurance cover has lapsed

The question is do I have get another 30 day block of insurance and continue to do so until my retirement visa comes up for extending .

Darren of Key Visa indicated that a 30 day only insurance policy will result in visa length being limited to only 30 days.

Can anybody give some light on this

    Thank You

  5. I have a couple of audiophile power amplifiers that need renovation.

I am proposing to remove the pcb's and get them renovated  back to spec ,here in Thailand.

But I need a recommendation for a quality tech to do the work .

Can any member recommend such a person -I reside in Pattaya , so that would be preferable , but other locations would be acceptable.

    Thank You

I suppose everyone has to make their own decision on these Jomtien rules. But for me, keeping within the rules, being 100% legal, gives me that warm and fuzzy feeling.

Only a few minutes at counter 8? Yes - but it takes me more than 2 hours to get there and come back. And some are not even that lucky.

In respect of some days before - I got a very clear statement that you can't come before because the law clearly states 90 days and not 80 or whatever before. But perhaps up to the officer.

And all this because some people tried to cheat. They punish the wrong ones... ????

My submission date is 7th June , which falls on a Sunday , so looks like a Monday for me

  7. I have bought an active speaker system -ELAC NAVIS ARB-51

Actually better suited to condo living.

Using TIDAL for source streaming only and very impressed with the MQA master files.

Invested in an upgraded USB cable for digital transfer from laptop into DAC-Awaiting its arrival so have no opinion on its capability yet.

  8. I have quite a bit of hi-fi gear sitting in storage in Perth.

I have owned it for 20 odd years -high end kit.

The time has come to bring it to Thailand , but I am concerned about Thai duty and tax etc

There is a point where the economics of importation exceed the value of the goods.

As I am on a retirement visa , does that allow me to bring into Thailand without excessive charges?

    Thank You

  9. Bit of a cheek really , but my own audio system is currently still in Perth WA , awaiting repair/shipping to here in Pattaya and wont be here for weeks.

Meanwhile I have subscribed to TIDAL streaming - Primarily for their studio Master files selection .Masters stream at or exceed 24bit/96kHz

So I've ordered myself a DAC with MQA decoder (https://www.mqa.co.uk/)- should be here in a week or so.

I would appreciate it ,if I could audition this piece of kit on your system , have a few beers ,as what I have here in my condo just won't cut it.

    Overclocked the Ryzen 5 3500U to 30W

Created a 1 Gb RAMDISK for Browser cache ,Prefetch and TEmp TMP folders.

Am proposing to increase RAM from 8Gb to 20Gb ( Remove 4Gb stick and replace with 16 Gb stick)

Enforce GPedit.msc and recover 20% bandwidth reserved for microsoft!
