  1. I use transferwise all the time to send money in and out of thailand I would highly recommend it, you'll save huge amounts on handling fees and the conversion rates are the best on the market, sometimes even better than shown on Xe convert. If you want to send say £1000 it will only cost you around 240THB to do so compared to 1500-2000THB for bank transfers. You'll need to create an account with them and provide certain id but once you've done that you can send money really easily and usley within 1 day, depending if its the weekend or not. Its a no brainer really.

  2. Hi Mario thanks for replying.

The fee would be paid to my accountant so she can pay the relevant people? I thought this seemed a bit strange and a lot but i did read something a while back about the employer having to pay such a fee but was unsure if this was correct?

Do you know if the employer would have to pay anything?

If it helps i am the only foreign employee of this company and the business was registered with 100,000,000 baht of registered capital, which i should have probably mentioned before.

  3. I currently have employment in a limited partnership owned business and i wish to leave. I went to see my Accountant to see what i will need to do in order to leave without any issues occurring and what i understood from her was i would have to pay a fee of 20,000 baht because i have not been in employment with this business for a whole year yet. Like i said this is what i understood as my Thai is near to none and her English isn't the best.

What i need to know is.... Is this correct?

Are there any other fees which i might have to pay?

What does my employer need to do for me to leave without any issues?

Will my employer need to pay any fees for my departure from the business?

I would like to stress i am planning to come back in January to start employment in another limited partnership owned business and would like nothing to interfere with me doing so.

Advice and experience in this field would be much appreciated.

  4. Are Samui immigration police doing a widespread check on foreign nationals that have stayed in the kingdom for long periods of time.

I currently have a Non-b visa and i am waiting for my work permit to be processed. Today i was looking after a friends business ( also the same place where i live) whilst my friend was away doing some business in Nathon and immigration police in plain clothes came in and started to ask how long i have been in the country and if i was working here. They asked to see my passport and mentioned that i've been in thailand a while i told them i am currently waiting for my work permit and i was just looking after my friend's place whilst she was away. They left and waited outside for my friend in a pickup truck for over an hour and then left.

I told a friend and they said this is happening a lot too farangs in samui at the moment

Should i be worried that i was helping a friend and they asked to see my passport or are they just looking for a bit of extra cash and are immigration police doing a widespread check on farangs in samui?

    Would appreciate any feedback,

    Thanks.
