What steps are required to apply for a new US passport by mail and how to do it from start to finish? I am looking for the easiest way to do this. If you can help, thanks in advance.

What Thai companies will be exposed if China implodes? Are there any Thai companies that invested heavily into China's real estate sector or in any other sectors that will cause problems here in Thailand?

My question is; was she vaccinated? Nature has a way of dealing with people in a harsh way. My condolence to her family. PEOPLE GET VACCINATED NOW... STOP THIS VIRUS

A question for Ubonjoe regarding 90-day report
How long should I wait before going to MTT after I have mailed the 90-day report using EMS mail and it doesn't return?
-
I am a bit confused. Why doesn't ASIA NOW put a correct date on each forum post? It is really confusing as I don't know how current this forum is. Put the current date near the topic title please.

If I do the 90-day report by register mail as some suggest. How long should I wait for the reply before going to Muang Thong Thani (MTT) if the receipt/response stamp doesn't arrive?

Why is the government passing these requirements onto insurance companies in other countries? A lot of the problems are caused by this government demanding these 2 policies here and instead of making it easier they are making it very hard for Westerners to stay in Thailand. It will cost my friend who is over 75-years old (according to him) almost Baht 350,000 a year to be covered by the $100,000. Corona policy and the 400k/40k in/out health policy. Thailand is not offering any solution, but are trying to push it on to other countries. If there was only one policy either the $100,000 or the 400k/40k policy then it would be manageable, but not two.

Hi Peter Denis.
If applicable, could you PM me the same information as you sent to Jingo01? I have a yearly "O" visa based on retirement extension and 800K in a bank account to qualify for the yearly extension. I am 73 years old, and would like to continue with self-insuring or understand my options regarding the 400K/40K insurance policy the Thai government is trying to push on foreigners here. I don't mind a big deductible as I would have no plans to use the Thai policy, but only to show it to the IO when applying for my yearly "O" retirement extension.

My mistake. I don't know how I could have missed the graph. Thanks for pointing it out.

Do they have VAT taxes in the Philippines? If so, how much is it?

Thanks ubonjoe.
I will follow your 2 suggestions. Damn its nice to be able to talk to someone who knows what they are talking about. Again thanks for your help.

Ubonjoe, what would you recommend a person to do if they are having the same mailed in problems of no returned dated receipt and several weeks have gone bye? The 90- day
form was sent by registered mail.

If Thailand really wants to get out of this real estate over supply mess there is a simple answer. Let foreigners buy houses that have been vacant for over a year. Or just let it continue to rot until it has no real value to anyone.

I have seen foreign people waiting in ambulances or taxis at CW immigration. They were waiting for the IO to do their paperwork for them. There needs to be an improvement in this system that would allow the elderly to be handled in a more caring way. This is the reason for me to think about leaving Thailand. Thai immigration is too harsh on the elderly foreigners and I don't want to go through a yearly harsh experience when I am not so mobile or have health issues.

Hi epic
We are thinking seriously about the SRRV program. Currently, we are healthy and have no problems. We want to have a visa that is long-term and offers PR security as we age. The last things we need are constant hassles/problems when we are old. I believe it is best to do it when you are not too old and it makes the transition a lot easier.
Tell me more about Rockwell; why did you pick there? We still haven't picked a place to live in the Philippines. We are looking for a city that has at least a couple of shopping malls, a good hospital, good restaurants, basically a decent place to live with most services, any ideas? My wife is Japanese.

Puchaiyank, thanks for your e-mail.
I like living in Thailand. Currently my wife and I are just plain tired of the hassles, reporting requirements and worry what will happen when we are too old to jump through the hoops that Thai Immigration requires or start forgetting dates due to old age.
I see old people who are forced to go to Chaeng Wattana in wheelchairs, ambulances or sitting in a waiting taxi while an IO goes through their paperwork. To me, that is the same as being held captive and I've seen it with my own eyes. To me, there is no compassion for older foreigners here and I don't want to be at their mercy when I am old.
Again, thanks for your reply

Hello everyone.
I am looking for any forum websites to learn about the visa requirements in the Philippines, and any other general living forums similar to Thaivisa. I want to do some research to see if it is possible to live there on a retirement visa. I am tired of jumping through the hoops.
Thanks for any help or comments you can offer.

The osmosis water machines here in Thailand are terrible. It is expensive to properly clean and replace the filters on a regular basis. I had the same problems with the machine downstairs on the ground floor...every time I used the water from that machine I had stomach problems. If you do not use bottled water from stores then boil it if it comes out of any osmosis machine or any machine for that matter. After I started boiling the water the problem stopped completely.

Thanks ubonjoe.
That is exactly what I needed. Again, thanks for your help.

Hi ubonjoe.
I will be applying (done several times) for the one-year extension of stay based on retirement, with 800K in the bank, no need to travel outside of Thailand, only do the 90 day TM47. I need the English rules so that I can show the IO I am within the banking rules. I tried to retrieve from the Thai Immigration site, but it keeps jumping back to Thai script whenever I press the English button.

Does anyone have a copy of the rules and regulations for Non-Immigrant Visa O requirements/criteria for consideration (in English)? As I have misplaced mine and can't find it. I will go to immigration (CW) soon and I want to be totally prepared and have the correct one.
Thanks for your help

Does anyone know where I can buy dog deworming medicine here or near Bangkok? I need to buy enough for up to 15 dogs. Any comment is appreciated as I know nothing about dogs and I am trying to help someone who is a nice person .
-
Hello Everyone.
I have recently met someone who is starting a dog rescue program and I have offered to help. They have asked me to try and find dog deworming medicine with fenbenzadol as the safest active ingredient. They already have many dogs with worm problems. I know nothing about deworming medicine or dogs so I hoping someone can point me in the direction of an animal veterinarian supply store in the greater Bangkok area.
Thanks for any help

Some of you can spin it anyway you want, but it is still an insult to the US President. Will he be so understanding and allow it to pass or will he do something about it, after all he has the power to do something or not...his choice. Let's hope he is as forgiving.

Making new passport at US embassy and transferring existing visa stamps
in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Posted
I live near the US Embassy. Can I just make an appointment and then go there in person with all the paperwork done? Then pick the passport up from the embassy when the new passport is ready, That way, I don't have to deal with all the hassle of money draft, registered mail, and credit card payment system?
