  1. I found details on citylife - the ban comes into effect on 20th Feb for 6 weeks.

There are local private organisations trying to help with their own initiatives; pyramid composting project and warm heart foundation both showing farmers how they can use their farm waste to make organic compost and biochar respectively. Solutions which provide education and an income.

  2. We went early last year in the hope they would give us 30 days and bring the date forward.  Alas no luck they stuck to the anniversary.

I spoke to an agent who said ok to collect stamp (they charge 300b). So it should be possible. And if not at least now I have a back up plan!

I will report back with the official response next week. Thanks very much for your help.

  3. Thanks for the replies - and as is the case with immigration I guess we will have to try and see what happens! Does anyone know what happens if we don't collect the extension stamp until 6 weeks later?

The other thing I was wondering, is changing the date we have do the extension. It's currently 8th March

I know you can apply for 90 days or 1 year, is there anything to stop us putting in say 7 months so we in future do the extension every November when we will be in CM?

    Thanks

  4. Hello all,

Just a question I cannot seem to find any information on, does anyone know if it's possible to nominate someone to collect a marriage visa extension on our behalf?

We head south to avoid the smoky season, and the extension is always due to be collected slap bang in the middle of when we aren't here. Previous years my husband has flown in for a few days to collect, however his health cannot take the smoke, hence why we try to leave before it's too bad.

If there is a way to nominate someone (or any other solution) we be glad to hear of others' experiences!

    Thanks!

  5. Hey everyone,

I have read this thread with great interest, lots of great info on here, thank you all for sharing your knowledge!

We have just got some land in Chiang Mai which is basically a very sandy field. I am not sure if they actually dumped sand on top or whether it is just very sandy soil - there are water erosion signs so I know its freshly done. Now is a good time to plant, but before I run off to acquire seed. I just wanted to ask if anyone else had very poor sandy soil, and if so what did you find to work best?

    Thanks very much!

  6. Hi there, just picking up on this old thread, I'm looking for a game fishing trip. I've read around that this is maybe not the best season, or that there aren't any big fish left!!

If anyone has been out and caught kingfish, barracuda etc please can you let me know who with?

We would be looking to go in the next three weeks, if anyone is interested in sharing a trip let me know!

    Thanks

  7. Hi there,

I'm new to the site although I've been reading for research purposes for a while now.. Please may I check something?

I am from the UK and have a Thai passport, and about to move to Thailand with a UK husband on an O visa. He earns his money remotely from clients outside of Thailand, and I have been trying to work out how to get him a work permit so he can continue to earn from overseas - does this mean we don't have to register a Thai company?

Also, eventually we would like to go for PR for him, but I think (although I could now have read so much I'm confused) that 1) he has to pay Thai tax? Is this right and if so can anyone advise 2) what rates would be applicable (Is it PIT)? 3) Does this only apply to income we bring into Thailand?

I'm happy to benefit from anyone else experience or suggestions on how best to do this!

    Thanks for any assistance
