Battery probably on the way out. Eventually won't charge at all. Has it been running hot for extended periods? That'll reduce its life.

It is normal for the restaurant to provide extra chopstick
It isn't normal at all. Usually one has to request some kind of community serving spoon and even then it doesn't guarantee people will use it, thus continuing to double-dip anyway.

It's an old saw of sociology that how people plan for the future depends on their level of income. Poor people struggle to live day by day and lack the resources to do effective planning for the future.
Are you including the Chinese in this wildly generalised theory?

There’s a vid on YouTube, someone filmed driving through the streets of SF in the 1940s. Quite surreal to see.

So I guess the question is, do we have to pretend we're full on GF and BF to improve her chances of getting that visa?
Don’t ever pretend anything with immigration, they’ll smell something is up and immediately come down like a ton of bricks.
She’s your friend and she’s a girl. So, she’s your girlfriend.
As the fat controller rightly advises, whatever you do be completely honest.

A friend coming to visit for two or three weeks? That’s a tourist visa innit?
I doubt photos of you together will mean a lot, unless she’s visiting as your wife or fiancé..? Pretty sure that’s a different visa?
But yeah, an invitation letter from you providing evidence of your ability to cover her for food, accommodation, sightseeing and travel costs won’t go astray. Include recent bank statements, pay slips, maybe a pic of your house, her sightseeing itinerary in the UK etc.
The main thing is convincing immigration she will return to Thailand. She’ll need a pretty strong reason why she must return home, otherwise I dare say it’s not gonna be easy.

Dunno if Thais can think outside the square but you could suggest she turn up to interview with freshly baked scones with jam and cream, or donuts or whatever... preferably something that wafts through to the back office. Might pique their interest?

Australia has a demand for Baht, to come here on holiday, to buy cars, hardrives, air conditioners, cheap seafood at woolies etc, thats the demand that pushes the baht price up.
Besides a couple of well off thais and some gold imports, Thailand doesnt have much demand for Australian currency.
And where do you think Thailand gets all the raw materials to build these cars, hard drives, airconditioners, or even the seafood from OZ that’s packaged in Thailand.. Out of their ass?

Why didn’t she just pay for the item when accosted, tell the bloke yeah I was just bringing it to the counter in my bag, I’m intending to purchase it. Surely the whole thing could have been resolved as a misunderstanding, being a foreigner especially. She doesn’t sound like the full quid to me.

Hey guys, wondering about Phuket in January. Flying in from China. What're the immigration queues like... any worse than swampy? Anything around $50-60AUD that's not a backpackers? Yes, I understand January is high season.
Cheers for any insights

^ I think there used to be a longer shoulder season and a slow tailing off, but these days there seems to be a markedly high period, then a sudden drop off... like <deleted> did everyone go?

Correct me if I’m wrong, but it isn’t the alleged high season when all the scandinavians roll up in droves? To escape their winter?

Could it be because Chiang Mai is a bit meh? Wonder if they ever consider that as a possible reason.

I’d like to use Thai as they’re a direct flight for me but since they can’t be arsed to park at a gate like a normal airline and just drop you on the tarmac and shuttlebus you to the gate.. and not even close to immigration where you’d expect to be dropped off... oh no.... that’s a bit much to ask.... still gotta walk half mile through the walkways just to rub it in.... bloody rude.. never again will I use their so called service.
