  1. I'm still waiting for the announced reduction of the wine import tax to boost the tourism and hospitality sector.
  2. A year ago I was thinking about buying a condo in Thailand. The 49% quota for foreigners would hardly ever have become a problem. But what definitely stopped me from buying is the new tax law. I am now even about to leave Thailand with my family.
  3. ...in the same boat: my bill would be higher too and I would def. be leaving too (after 20y in Thailand)...
  4. ...or you already bought a condo before 2024 (or a car) that you are still paying off. Do you have to pay taxes on the monthly installments starting this year?
  5. Two questions that I haven't found an answer to yet: 1. I am retired early and married in Thailand. My mother who does not live in Thailand pays for our children's education. Until now she had sent the money to my Thai account and I then transferred it to the schools. I would have to pay taxes on this money from now on, right? Are these school fees also subject to tax law if my mother transfers the money directly to the school using an international bank transfer? 2. How is inherited money treated when I send it to Thailand?
  6. Back in my home country for 2 weeks now, after 5 years absence. No one is talking about Covid here anymore, all restrictions have been lifted. In July we're going back to Thailand. I hope by then the Thais will have understood that Covid is over. I'm afraid it will take a little longer though ????
  7. I am in Pattaya for 3 days now and I was in soi buakhao too. It's true there were a lot of people but still all the bars were shut at 11pm and the place looked like a ghost town after 2am. Soi 7 and 8 are dead all night long. 80% of the places shut down. The ones that are open are mostly deserted. In soi 6 maybe 60% of the bars are open but almost no customers. Pattaya is dead. So, even if one takes the risk and goes through all the requirments to travel to thailand, where would he go if he likes the night life? I was also in BKK on last Saturday. It's dead after 11pm too.
