Well of course Mr. Brown of Agoda would reserve top praise for Thailand.
He has alterior motives as Agoda is linked into the governments TravelTogether campaign for subsidised domestic travel and, most likely, looking for more "cooperation".
Just the big boys looking after each other.

Curiosity question.( seen in DIY shop )
What do the markings mean on a standard single phase meter?
e.g. " 15 (45)A "
Is that a 15A or a 45A meter, and why the two different numbers?

Please can you clarify if are you saying that 60 day extensions granted to non-imm O ME holders from Sept 26th to Nov 25th 2020 are now changed to run from 1st Nov until 31st Dec 2020?
Yes it can be done.
Phuket say NO. "Extension you have is for family and NOT Covid based, you do not qualify."
Rude, surly woman too.

Is there seriously still no clarification on the 60 day extension status?
On one hand, "All extensions start from Nov 1st, on the other, 30 day blah blah.
Does a 60 day extension done before Sept 26th qualify for Nov 1st start date for either 60 or 30 days continuance?
We have asked at Phuket Imm and they admit to not knowing but will not restamp either.

I've heard the wrong staff snuffling cleaner tips in larger hotels but it's less likely in smaller ones where the owner/manager is more hands on with daily routines, unless that owner is a scumbag of course.
My wife's place sees (saw?) the cleaners getting daily tips and end of stay tips. My wife is the one who usually scans the room at check out and often mentions if she saw BUT DID NOT TOUCH a decent tip for the cleaners.
At the end of the shift she sometimes teases them for how they got a good tip and then on a serious note always thanks them for impressing the guest.

Yes, all those on the main board(s) can be ignored. The start caps are bolted to the chassis somewhere as they are not board mounted. You can also follow the leads directly to/from the fan or compressor.

There are a few things you can check yourself when an air con unit drops in performance.
Clean the filters on the interior unit.
Check for accumulation of dust/dirt in the fins and also in the gutter area where the condensate is supposed to escape, also make sure the drain tube for same is clear.
On the exterior unit, is the fan coming on?
Remove anything that may be choking airflow, tree growth etc.
Under the cover are two start capacitors, one smallish black one for the fan and a larger "can" style one for the compressor. A faulty capacitor often bulges or leaks when in a faulty state.
Any half competent service geeza will check all of these, give the system a good clean and check the gas for pressure and leaks.

For me I would rather buy a property and own it 100%. Without that I refuse to buy even with my Thai wife of 20+ years.
Otherwise just the long haul flights if I need to go back to my birth country but that was my choice.

Good Thai restaurants in falangland are few and far between.
When we lived in the south of the UK we found just 2. One in Guildford and the other in Eastleigh.
The rest were mostly poor to passable, London seemed to have the worst. Some new ones were ok for while and dropped in quality pretty quickly. All the ones we tried were run by Thais and had Thai cooks.
I think the main problem is most places westernise their food to fit western tastes (they think) and/or concentrate on fancy presentation to justify stupid prices. Therefore, anyone who likes actual Thai food is most likely going to find it too sweet, too mild, too bland etc.

I have to say wifey's English improved massively over a very short period of time but she does seem a natural (she could speak three asian languages and so so English when we met) with languages as is our daughter. I did not speak to her in pigeon English, ever and discouraged her from using it.
I am bilingual (NOT a natural it took me many years) but not with Thai, I'm not generally encouraged to use it and find it tough to remember new vocabulary and those devilish tones but still try to improve beyond my current, fairly pitiful standard.

Took 2 years to get married, now married 22 years. We have our ups and downs just like every other couple I know.
Somone said ALL the thai/falang couples he knew back in the uk were separated/divorced.
I don't know 50, maybe 20 or so, out of those 3 are divorced. Better than the national average by some margin!

The problem is caused by humans and then exacerbated.....by humans.
I don't like the fact that some locals feed the legions of cats here but at least their hearts are in the right place. The cold view would be don't feed them, let them hunt for themselves (keep the rats in check & WHY) and food levels will adjust their numbers as nature intended. Unfortunately us humans have already messed up natures ways so it's only us to blame. Add to that a skewed view, I for example, do have this cold view to cats but not to dogs, "awwwww da pwiddy leeedle puppy", which is grossly unfair of course and unhelpful.
Some people take it on themselves to help and neuter these animals in a small effort to genuinely help. I have just donated to one such person in order to continue/increase their efforts, I don't have the heart to do it myself but am happy to encourage those who do.
Come on OP, it's not the animals fault but there are ways we can all help the situation.

My son has just been a month ago, showing an outward bound flight but not funds, although he had that too if it had been asked for.

What hotel lets you pay as you go? It's not a phone service. If you didn't pay for the days you will be staying already then buh bye.
Completely agree. A hotel will take the assured payment any day over a maybe. It's just normal business sense, especially in high season.
If you want the room for x amount of time, pay for it up front (normal procedure) and it's yours.

Ok thanks. Thats what we are hoping for.

New complication!
My son has re-entered Thailand on his 60 day SETV but we've just noticed he has been stamped for 30 days at Suv. airport.
A visit to immigration in Patong came up with zero as they advised a border run to correct it which will obviously expire the visa.
We're going to the main Phuket office tomorrow to see if they can fix it or if indeed the visa trumps the stamp by entry date alone?
Any pointers before we go are appreciated.

We would have to make the Thai birth certificate to apply for the passport anyway so may as well do the both.
According to the consulates website (London) we must all be there in person for the application appointment so we'll put this off until our next trip to the UK in May/June next year and renew his tourist visas in the meantime.
As said above he'll dodge the draft as long as he's not in the blue book.
All good stuff, cheers guys.

Now that is a very useful post samran.
I shall investigate this immediately as it could be an extremely easy answer to his problem.
Cheers

Thanks for all the comments guys.

Thanks to both of you for your answers, both useful information.
For this time I guess a tourist 60+30 is the best way to go. Giving us time to rethink, possibly on the ed visa as above.
Any up to date preference on consulate for easiest application with the least demanding requirements?

Reviving this old thread.
We decided against registering our son in Thailand as we met a few couples whose sons were indeed drafted, one of whom could speak next to zero Thai and had a pretty rotten experience. The only positives were he came out in one piece and could speak good Thai.
Meanwhile, my son has been gone and returned on 30day extended visa-exempt entries as he is on now.
For now we were looking to get him either a tourist visa or a business visa on a fly for visa run.
The business visa would have to be based on "looking for work", otherwise a tourist would have to suffice. He is 20 and I believe no longer qualifies for a join-mother non O.
I have seen a guy get a Bvisa based on looking for work at Penang and was wondering if this unique to Penang or generally available or even still possible.
TIA

Did this 20 odd years ago for my daughter. We completed the Thai adoption in approx. a year followed by the UK one (Thai one was not accepted by consulate or UK system) which also took about year.
Under the UK system, back then, we BOTH had to adopt her.
It was all pretty straight forward, just follow the rules.

Similar experience to most here. Have ordered small items, payment up front and medium items cod.
Every delivery was quicker than quoted and correct goods arrived. They were all fulfilled by Laz. themselves.
If the op has paid with a western credit card he could force a refund via his card provider?
Online 90 day reporting available from April 1st
in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits

There are two of us reporting in our household so address details are identical. Both have done first, on new visa, reports in person.
First family member online report went in and approved within 48 hours.
My report then declined for "Address does not match that on record", despite being copied in exactly from previous form. Two more attempts both declined for the same reason.
Went for in-person report, no problem, done in a flash. I dared to ask why online did not work, showing the declined form with address. They confirmed the address was identical between form and record with shrugged shoulders.
Strange.....
